They make you buy more than you need here. They won’t sell you less than 2 ounces of any herb, spice, etc. Even if you just want to try something out for the first time. But, they are not the only game in town. We found what we needed in another local store, so with this non flexible way of doing business for a small store, Thousand Oaks may get another vacancy at some future point in time.

Caveat: I really don’t know much about herbs and tinctures. Maybe more than the average Joe, but certainly not much. However, I have seen shifts in health through the use of these products. For me, I find the service helpful, more knowledgable than myself(not saying much on this subject), courteous and the store quite interesting. I think the products we have used have been helpful. Besides it feels good in there.

I’m kinda traumatized. I just opened up my container of loose leafed tea and it seemed weird, so I dumped it onto a large plate. I had to use a knife to break apart what was stuck in the airtight jar. I thought maybe it was moldy, so I researched a bit on the web. I returned to my plate, moved it around and that when I noticed all these hard shelled things. My thought of … «Hmm…Is that toasted rice?» Was cut short when one sprouted wings and tried to take flight. I kinda felt bad for the guy, finally smelling the smell of sweet freedom only to have his life cut short. But I digress… EWW! There are 100’s of these things in my tea. Barf factor: 100%

Well, THAT was depressing. The two kids working there were VERY nice, but knew nothing. Where is this tea from? Is it Chinese or from from Taiwan or? When was it harvested, what year at least? Is this a 2014 or 2015? Ok, maybe that’s asking too much. How about what kind of puerh ARE these mini tou cha’s? Nope. Ok, how about a tasting? Maybe they will have been trained well in that. Fellow uses a gaiwan, that’s good. Oh, you are going to put honey and coconut oil in that, um, can we NOT do that and just try it ‘straight’? No rinse of the leaves, really? Another employee or guest asked ‘why a rinse’ and employee waves off the question saying ‘it’s just an old tradition.’ Geez. There are lots of reasons for rinses, from cleaning off dirt/debris from an older puerh, to just ‘waking up the leaves’! I told them they could steep this tea half a dozen times or more and they both seem surprised. I wish I needed or wanted a job, I could turn this place into a veritable experience of mindfulness, joy in being One with a sip of tea and some knowledge and history of tea and Chi and Huigan, and like I said, I am a relative newbie. This was so depressing. CUTE space, cannot believe I didn’t spend money here, very silly experience makes me literally ache for a more tea savvy city. This community desperately needs more Gongfu tea drinkers and this shop is all we’ve got, and the lack of knowledge was disheartening. I myself have only been into good Chinese, Taiwanese, Thai etc loose teas for six months and I knew way more than these two sweet kids. And I’m no rocket scientist. I would also have bought things, even with the lack of info on the tea canisters etc, but for instance, to buy the smallest amount of Goji berries,(as I have never tried them so didn’t want to make a large commitment) was 2 ounces, over $ 12! No way! Love to buy one of those little individual gold wrapped Puerh squares, but you CAN’T. I walked out with my wallet as full as when I went in, and I am a person who spends hundreds monthly from online tea vendors. I am hopeful if the owner, Mo(?) had been there the experience would have been totally different. If not, then I would rate The Healing Tree far lower, but I will go back when the owner is there and hope to find someone with a true knowledge and passion for tea who wants customers new to tea to leave excited and a little more tea-savvy than when they went in. If that happened my tea money could be spent locally and I would be thrilled.

Chinese people… I like your style. Instead of pumping all of these manufactured drugs into your system, you like to take the natural path. That Eastern medicine approach. I can dig it. So for a natural answer to my sleepless nights(and other stuff), I looked to The Healing Tree to hocus pocus me a batch of tea… actually, SEVERAL teas, and I’ve been pleased ever since. So aromatic and soothing! Yes, Lawd. But beware: this is real shit and it ain’t cheap. I thought I ordered up about $ 50 worth of remedy teas, but my calculations were off. Turned out to be double. But I’m getting my $ 100 worth. I’ve been drinking and drinking and this shit is never ending! Help! I bought too much tea!!!

Dr Moe is a very gifted healer. He instinctually knows the body and it energy flow. I have experienced cupping, Gua Sha and percussion therapy. Each time he has managed to help heal my issues both physical and emotional. I’ve been lucky enough to have been worked on by gifted healers all over the world and Dr Moe is truly one of the best. We are very blessed to have him here in Thousand Oaks. He has extensive knowledge of herbs and Qi. Highly recommend him.

If I could write two separate reviews, I’ve give this place one 5 star rating and one 1 star rating. 5 stars for the shop, the products, and the knowledgeable help provided. The store itself is charming and there’s an incredible selection of organic teas and herbs. As mentioned in many of the reviews, which I’d read before going, Moe was there and helpful in recommending herbal remedies for improved digestion. I’d go back again for the teas and herbs. Nice to know there’s a place with such a great organic selection! As for Moe’s approach to body therapy, using percussion instruments to scrap and drum on the skin, plus cupping… not for me. These approaches set me back in my healing process… and I’ve waited a few weeks to write this review, hoping to have a better report. If it were simply not helpful that would have been okay, having a set back is disappointing. My fault for not doing some research first and paying more attention to my initial hesitation. Anyway, it’s a pretty aggressive approach… The experience itself was unpleasant and at times painful. Moe did tell me ahead of time that most people find the process painful, and it wasn’t as bad for me as it apparently is for some. What he didn’t mention was the black and blue and crimson bruising that would result… Wow, shocker. If I were to redo this whole experience, I’d still go and get the herbs, it’s a very nice shop as I said, then I’d do some research on the rest, and wait until I felt a clear sense direction for anything further.

I had this pain in my right lower arm since 3 months and thought it might be associated with old age but NO! Moe did scraping(painful) and then the wooden stick drumming(more pain) and all this gook came out and even so right now I am bruised the arm has NOPAIN. I guess I stored a lot of grief and separation pain in my cells in my arm which were released! Going back to do more work on my body ;) Moe also suggested different healing drops which I bought ;)

You’ll feel 236% more zen just walking into this place. They have an incredible selection of teas, a tea bar, and a little cupboard of delicious snacks(preserved meats, chocolate covered nuts, dried fruit, etc.). I had an awful cold and they mixed me up a blend that helped my cough and congestion tremendously. The staff is extremely knowledgeable. Everything they make at the tea bar looks delicious, but I can’t get past the turmeric latte. So flavorful and delicious! Prices are steeeep, but you get what you pay for, I suppose. They have this amazing pickled spicy mango, but at $ 10.25 per ounce, I’ll have to settle for wishful thinking.

You pay for what you get and what you get is beautiful tea. The selection is bewildering but Mo, the owner is so helpful you just cannot go wrong. Mo knows everything about tea and will make you samples to try which is invaluable. Comparing tea side by side really lets you focus in on what you like. I bought some Lapsang Souchong and it is fabulous. Although it seems expensive I find that I use very little per cup and it has lasted me ages — much, much longer than I had anticipated. Ask to try the hard Ginger — quite an experience and if you end up buying some(I did) buy much less than you think. It goes a long way and we still have lots left after 5 weeks!

The healing tree has one of the largest and finest tea selections anywhere around. I l love being able to stick my head in a giant mason jar full of oolong and just inhale it into every inch of my body. Mo is awesome. He is more passionate about tea then anyone I have ever known, and that’s what makes this such a great place.

Did you know it against the law to cure Americans with plants? There is no money in the cure, just the chemo and pills and the return. Look how much they lost on Polio! This place uses the teas which appear to work and a treatment which did work for me. My hip was so bad I could not go with my son on a walk. I thought I was going to need a hip transplant. The weird thing of tapping out the gook and memories and whatever from the cells around the affected area. After 2 sessions in 2 weeks, that fixed my hip to where I can run and it’s A-OK. Now, it does not matter if it was the tapping(which I must warn you — does hurt a bit) or that I just believed it would work is a moot point, my hip is happening. I am going back to fix a few other parts which, after the car wreck and emotional traumas have damaged parts of me. I feel like it is a tune-up.
