HelioPower Solar

Installation was fine but they promised that I’d have no electric bill. They lost my stats and found that they owed me money because I did, in fact, have a bill at the end of the year. Then they asked me for my bank account so they could take money directly from my account. When I refused (I pay the day the bill comes in), they added $ 5 a month to the invoice. I even offered to pay for ½ of additional panels and they didn’t respond. Would still go solar, but not with this company.

We moved to La Quinta in January of 2011 and our number one goal in beginning our new life in the desert was to maximize our savings in Air Conditioning and Pool operating costs. We decided to begin discussions with HelioPower on the recommendation of our realtor. We live in an area serviced by the Imperial Irrigation District (IID) power company and needed to submit our application for installation and to apply for rebates. The HelioPower team laid out a great strategy and took us through all the paperwork requirements (even applying in person for the rebates).
Even though we initially were not able to secure rebates for the system and had to wait for several months, HelioPower never forgot about us and contacted us when our rebates came through. The system was installed in the heat of the summer and the guys really worked through some tough conditions, but did a great job! We started seeing immediate reductions of up to 75% on an annual basis. A real savings!
Solar panels are a fabulous way to reduce energy costs and carbon footprints for the environment. Apparently they are also a fabulous place for pigeons to call home. Several years after the installation, we started noticing a lot a bird droppings around our house and our pest company told us that a family of pigeons had built nests under the solar panels around our home. We were totally surprised by this and no one told us to expect this.
I contacted HelioPower about the infestation and were told that we would have to install netting around all of our panels. HelioPower told us that they would have installed the netting for free as part of the original installation, but that is pretty much 20 – 20 hindsight. Anyway, we had to pony up about $ 2k to have the bird infestation cleaned up and the netting installed. I have to say that it was quite a process and there were a couple of stumbles along the way, but the guys that installed the netting were persistent and after a couple of visits, the birds were gone. Thanks to HelioPower for hanging in there with us for the 4 years that we have the solar array and we are so happy with the result.

Terrific company. I am one of four neighbors on our street to have HelioPower install solar this year. It was a good experience from start to finish: from salesman Matt McPherson (he’s not high pressure) to the installation crew (polite and professional) and follow-​ups from the company.

After having my system on for almost 2 years at this point, I have been beyond happy with my decision to go solar. My bill came at the end of the first year and it was only $ 85 (FOR THE WHOLE YEAR!). At this rate the system will be paid for in only a few more years and I will have virtually free power from that point on.
I tell all my friends that ask that this was a very smooth process from the beginning to the end. From my sales rep to the installation crew, I could not have been more pleased with my experience with HelioPower.
