This is a family owned and operated winery with really good wines and personable customer service. The venue is nestled in the mountains right off route 15 in Thurmont, Md. It is also a beautiful wedding venue with a gorgeous bed and breakfast. Be wary of trollers that leave negative reviews. We have been going here for quite a while and have never had a bad experience. They take great pride in running a local business and making you feel like one of the family. John, Amy, Valerie, Nick, Chis, Madison, Sarah, Cory, Torrie… we know them all because they take the time to talk to everyone and make them feel special. Really should make the trip here to sample the wines and food offered.

This winery is the perfect place to spend an evening or a day. The patio is bright and cheerful. The wine is tasty. We were most impressed with the owners and their family. This is our secret cheers spot and we could not ask for a better place to spend time listening to music and drinking wine. Thank you Springfield you never let us down.

I brought my out of state sister, daughter and neice to an event we saw for $ 5 lavender bundles we can pick. We paid $ 10 for 2 bundles and the staff provided us two pairs of scissors with instructions that said clip above the brown base where the green begins to grow. After we finished, we walked to get a drink as it was hot and we were thirsty. My sister got assaulted by a rude brown haired girl who grabbed her bundle and asked if she had paid for a ticket. No one offered a ticket. Only took our cash. At first I was to use my debit card on a staff workers iPad but I then said, just take my cash instead. But no one gave us a ticket or offered us one if that was a keepsake we were denied. So then this rude woman became sarcastic and said that our bundles was not the bundle they claim to offer us. And she said what we picked was a lot more so she had to remove much of what we picked. So I stopped her in her offensive approach to ask how much was the value of what we picked. She scrambled to estimate but said $ 25 in a demeaning voice. So I said, ok, then do you want to request $ 25 from us? She was then doubling her idea to threaten to was $ 50 for 2 bouquets. Recall that the offer says we can pick a bouquet. There are no visual examples as to how much a bouquet was. And there were no staff members there to help us as the workers left when we were picking. So I reminded this rude woman that no, no one had given us any boundaries as to the size of the bouquet. And that threatening and insulting 2 ladies with there 8 year old daughter’s who are trying to enjoy there first visit is very inappropriate. That if we picked more than the quota, they should politely notify us that the size we picked exceeded their offerings and that this was ok, we have the option to purchase more or to take less. This rude woman also claimed people told us things that no, no one had told us yet. And recall her original approach was assuming we didn’t pay for this so how can she be threatening they informed us of something she was just projecting in a ride tone at us? Note there is nothing in writing anywhere. Just a fat short woman projecting insults and threats at new customers. After this rude experience, We just wanted to leave. I didn’t get to sit down and enjoy a glass if wine because the staff scared us away with the assault. They really should print out a brochure explaining there rules and regulations so that new customers know them and are not assaulted by rude staff. It is shocking that there was no apology for her misunderstanding and hostile attack.

Was there for a wedding this past weekend in the wedding party. Beautiful place and the inn keepers and wedding coordinators where every friendly and helpful. Would have been 5 stars but the company that they work with for catering(carriage house) had horrible food. completely inedible. steaks where cooked to leathery oblivion, tortellini sauce was flavorless and came strait from a can. I did not see a single plate even half way ate. Kids would not even eat the Mac and cheese. I do hear the food with the wine tasting is good, but not what you get for a wedding. go and enjoy the great location and people, just eat before you go…

We were here today with a group of 9 people. Beautiful day outside listening to live music. The service and staff were very attentive and made our day stress free and relaxing. Great wines and spirits. It was warm out and we tasted several wines and had some delicious white sangria. The group ordered several appetizers. The Italian platter was full of several cheeses, meats, and assorted yummy treats. I like their spinach dip that is served in a warm bread bowl. Several of the guys tasted the spirits on the distillery side. Oh my… the fruit brandies are made from local fruit, Apple was my favorite. Lavender Gin was a hit with my buddies, as was the dark rum. They also have corn whiskey, grappa, and new small batches of interesting spirits in the process that will be aged in new oak barrels. Stop in for a warm welcome! You won’t be disappointed. We will be back again soon.

Miserable service and definitely not child friendly. Told us to get a baby sitter and go to Cunningham Falls

Sadly we had just terrible service. Family who own seemed particularly pretentious… Even their employees talked about how they really skimp on tastings and don’t like to have to service customers. Yuck yuck yuck!

We traveled from Winchester Va hitting wineries all the way into Maryland. This was our favorite stop. It’s family owned and two brothers were working on the wine side they were very knowledgable about their wine and about the process I actually learned a lot!!! The wine was great and the boys were really nice. We went on the other side to try the spirits. They had several brandys, corn whiskey, Grappo, gin, and rum. We were joined by another group of patrons who were sampling the spirits we had such a fun amazing time. We were sucked right into to the family atmosphere of the place. It’s a gorgeous plantation with delicious home and locally grown ingredients in the spirits and wines. Everything is made on site and the family that runs it is wonderful. It was truly a heart warming and amazing experience. Thank you to everyone that helped make the day so special.

Not a bad little place. They had nine wines. Tasting was $ 10 each person to taste all nine, which is about twice what it should be. The trim was really good, everything else was ok.

3 stars for the wine, 4 stars for service and facilities. I get the feeling this is something of a hangout for locals, so the wines trended towards crowd-pleasers. 7 wine tastings for $ 8. Since I went on a weekday I didn’t get a chance to see the entertainment, so I lost out on one of the main selling points. I kinda liked the Iron Master Reserve(Bordeaux style I think?) which had a nice cherry nose but wasn’t as smooth as I hoped for. They also had grapes from NY which I found to be unusual, although by no means a bad thing(especially if you like NY whites). They also have spirits tastings; max 3 tastings per visitor. I’m not into spirits by hey — why not try it? The Grappa(think of it as Italian moonshine) was… an acquired taste. I also tried a rum and an Oak aged apple brandy, but wasn’t a fan of either. But still; I like that they even have the option, so points for trying something different.

For $ 6.00 you can taste 7 wines, an extra $ 1.00 gets you a taste of their Sangria, which they just started on April 11. Although I am not much of a brandy drinker, you can also taste 3 brandies for $ 6.00, and if you want to do both, sample the brandies before the wine. They also have food– not sandwiches and salads, but hors d’oeuvres that go lovely with wine. The brie with chutney was my favorite, which was enjoyed with the Farmhouse White– also good for making sangria. You can eat inside or out and they sometimes have live music. The wines were delicious, but I was blown away by the service. Liz was friendly, knowledgeable, and paid personal attention to each person there. Valerie, the owner’s daughter, was amiable and efficient, and– she signs. I was wowed! My son is deaf, and so when 3 people came in after me and Valerie just started signing away, I couldn’t believe it. She made them feel so welcomed and special and ensured that they had a terrific experience. I would go back for the product, but I am telling everyone I run into that they need to visit because of the service. Do yourself, and your tastebuds, a favor and support this family operation. It is well deserving of your time.

Very cute place for a date. I love the lavender shop and the ambience here, but I wish they had more food options.

My husband and I moved to Frederick from NC and this is our favorite place to spend our weekends. The family that owns the winery and Liz are wonderful. Great wine, lavender and being here takes away some of the homesickness. It’s cozy and inviting and we always feel welcome. We love this place.
