This is a tricky place to review and I will tell you why. Years back I would have given this place 5 stars no problem. But now… it’s gone downhill. I know there have been many changes, including in management.
The student massage therapists use to be consistently good. Sure every once in a while there would be someone not so good, but overall I was happy. Now their not as good as often. And too often they call in sick or just don’t show. You plan for this only to be disappointed. Last time they didn’t show so there wasn’t even a phone call to let us know, though they usually do let you know. Still it’s disappointing. I left in pain and having planned my day around the appt. Appointments ar harder to get than ever too.
Don’t expect to get a full hour either. You are lucky to get 50 min. When I got 40 though, I complained. They tell you the students need to do this or that as part of the hour which has nothing to do with you getting the massage. Well then, don’t advertise it’s an hour then eh?
It’s a better price than going to a professional, even with Groupons and other discounts. If you get a student that is good, you got a great deal. But if you didn’t, you lost time and money. Last time I was there the customer on one side talked the whole time and the therapist said nothing. Why? It’s suppose to be a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Yack yack yack. Blah blah blah. Yada yada yada. Then on the other side an oversized grizzly man was loudly moaning quite inappropriately if you catch my drift. «Oooooh that feels good, mmmmmm… yeah… don’t stop, yes, right there! Harder!» Ewwwwwwww I say… Their therapist also said nothing to stop this.
Honestly, there are as many good students as there are professionals out there. You either got it or you don’t. No amount of schooling can make you great if massage is not your calling. The problem is the lack of consistency, you have no idea who you will get versus going to a professional you know well and like. But the price for a professional massage on a regular basis if you have chronic pain like my mom, it really does add up. So bottom line, it’s a trade off and ultimately where you go likely depends on your $, like everything else in life.
