Metzger Community Preschool

I am BEYOND happy with our choice to attend Metzger Preschool! I can not say enough good about this school. I would recommend it to any parent who can and wants to be an active part of their child’s early learning experience!
Our story — I started my oldest child at another preschool when he was 3 years old, we were looking for him to gain some independence and social skills. It was a good first experience, but in my heart I felt it was lacking that communication and sense of community I was searching for. I felt I wanted to be more hands on and a part of what my child was doing, so I began the search… We found Metzger and decided to give it a try. I had never heard of a co-​op or knew what it was all about so for me the entire experience was new and refreshing vs. the pick up, drop off, and somewhat cold routine school day that we had come from. My child went from, «Mom I don’t really want to go to school today.» To every single night asking, «is tonight a school night mom? Do we have school tomorrow?» He is now eager to go and that makes my heart so happy. He loves his friends and teacher Mary so much and is really thriving and becoming a fun person to watch grow and excel in his learning. Honestly, as a parent what more could I ask for?
My youngest starts this upcoming year at 3 years old and we plan to continue until he is ready for kindergarten! Everyone is so welcoming, outgoing and nice to work with. You get lots of chances to meet all the other parents as well. I love that Metzger does a lot of outside of school hours extra activities for people to be a part of if they chose to. Such as, *fruit festivals *costume parties * caroling night and holiday festivities *ginger bread house making *open houses *family Saturday’s for parents who can’t always come to the class room *field trips *spring outings– just a few to name off the top of my head.
So, needless to say I have had an amazing experience and could not be happier! Thank you for letting us be a part of such wonderful school.

My son loves Metzger Preschool and Teacher Mary. We found the school when they had a booth at the Tigard Farmers Market a few years back, and our experience has been excellent so far. My son is in the class of younger kids this year, and I can see how much he has blossomed since starting in September. Teacher Mary has worked with him on skills like using words to communicate with his friends and adults, learning the alphabet (through passive, fun exposure only), and basic group social skills. He will attend one more year at MCP, and I feel he’ll be very ready for kindergarten when he goes.
As another reviewer said, a co-​op can involve a lot of work and time, so know what you’re signing up for. We joined because we had the time and wanted something with this level of involvement. It has been great for us, and I’ve never felt my time was wasted — but just make sure it will fit in with your life.

We absolutely love this preschool! Teacher Mary is the most positive, dynamic, full of life and joy and we adore her. My child has blossomed at this school and we couldn’t be more pleased here. No qualms about this school– it is wonderful.
