Went to the Comedy Cantonese show tonight. I bought a ticket with the food option, a friend did not. We showed up after 730pm and because my friend did not purchase the buffet option she was not allowed in until 8pm. She could not even sit with me at the table(which they were going to seat us at anyways) because she was told it would be «disruptive to the flow.» No where on the website does it say that you can not sit before 8pm without ordering the buffet option. It even says on the website: «Show Details When: Thursday, Dec 24, 20158:30PM Ticket Price: $ 25.00 — $ 40.00 Door Time: 7:00PM Show Type: Stand Up Restrictions: 18& over Cash bar and buffet.» Very disappointing, not in the holiday spirit and the whole situation was dealt with unprofessionally.

I can’t say much for the food or performances; I can only say that the owner of Magooby’s was incredibly and unnecessarily rude to me – and on Christmas Eve no less! I intended to attend a Christmas Eve show(with an optional Chinese food buffet beforehand) and I arrived with my friend who had purchased the meal option, though I had not. I was assigned to sit at table 408 and attempted to sit there with my friend while she ate, even though those of us who had purchased the«show only» option were not supposed to enter for another 15 minutes. I was not bothering a soul, but the owner demanded that I leave and told me «I hope you never come back.» The staff, while very kind to me, seemed very scared of their boss. Edit with response to Andrew: I fully admit that I was attempting to sit with my friend while she ate even though the fine print did not allow me to enter for an additional 15 minutes! All I wanted to do was to keep my friend company while she ate. It was a very disappointing evening, though drinks at Liquid Lib’s nearby were great!

We attended the Anjelah Johnson show. It was great and our front row seats gave us a perfect view. Seats were comfy. This place is different than any other places when it comes to seating. They sit you at tables. Our table was a small 4 people table and it just my girlfriend and I. It was perfect. We made conversation about the comedian before the show and then it was all good. Not too close. I like that they had two comedians open for Anjelah that’s always cool to see and get to know new comedians. Good was good and drink menus were very interesting, especially the names. Now this is where they lost a star… They make you buy two food menu items!!! That’s absurd, we had plans to go out and eat after the show but those plans were cancelled seeing how they made us spent $ 50 on food. There wasn’t a fine print or a warning when buying the tickets either, trust me I looked.

I was honest on my review. You didn’t owe me an apology or explanation because I didn’t bring my concern to your attention. With that said, a plate full of butter that looks like grease was still a turn off. Thank you for responding.

Always makes for a fun, entertaining night. Staff is friendly, and the comedy is always good. I wish there was some preferential seating for people there in advance though. We usually get out right in front of the stage, which while some may like that, we don’t. Fun place!

First time going to MaGoobys– heard great things from friends. Now I’m not sure if my husband and I just aren’t «comedy club» peeps or what, but we thought it had an awkward vibe. My husband described it as weird. I will try to articulate: Pros: I thought comedians were pretty funny but hubby disagreed. They often have groupon deals which makes the whole night more affordable. Good selection of cocktails and bar bites. Service was fairly attentive. Lots of free parking. Weirdness: They sat us at a «table» on the side of the stage which was awkwardly placed and did not seem like a real table at all. It was hardly any room on it and just made us feel like we shouldn’t be sitting there. It was right where the comedians walked up. Almost like when you are at a restaurant and you get sat by the kitchen door. Hubby thought the comedians were so so and there certainly were times of awkward silence. A bit uncomfortable. The waitress was soft spoken and we couldn’t really hear her and she apparently couldn’t hear us because she brought us the wrong drink and dessert. This was corrected and no one was upset by this, but again– the exchanges with the waitress were awkward. We also had to wait to get our exit ticket which was fine by me because I had a drink to finish but hubby didn’t like this and thought it was weird. Overall the vibe was weird. But I think most comedy clubs are set up in a similar way/with similar systems. Maybe we are the weird ones.

I have been here a few times now and always enjoy myself. This particular visit was to see headliner Jim Florentine from That Metal Show on tv. I didn’t know he was a comedian, too. Jim did a great job keeping us going, & improv w/a couple of the audience members, especially the guy who couldn’t handle the attention very well. I should have written down the names of the other two. The one hosting the show was voted best new comic at Magooby’s for 2014(?) Shane or Shaun maybe, & the opening act is also a Baltimore native. Also making an appearance was a little mouse who ran across the floor a couple times. I was tempted to tell this one girl to close up her purse on the floor just in case it got in there, but 1) how often is a mouse really going to go in a purse, &2) if it had, her reaction would have also been worth it to not give the head’s-up.

Awesome place. Good food, funny comics and great staff. I will absolutely be going back again. The website is well designed and makes it easy to see who is coming up and buying tickets.

Have been to Magoogby’s several times over the last few years. The club is laid out well unlike others I have been to where everyone in cramped in like sardines. I have been to regular shows and special events and have never been disappointed. The price for drinks and food are reasonable.

Fantastic experience! We went for their once yearly Murder Mystery Comedy Show and it was so worth it! COMEDY: Great! Audience interaction, hilarious comedians, and funny story line. FOOD: I’m from DC so this seemed like a great deal to me. Good french fries and chicken strips for $ 10. But the drinks were stupid expensive at $ 3.75 for a small cup of soda. I understand it is a 2 item minimum so they price the drinks high. But, I think if someone orders food they should get one free refill. Small beef. SERVICE: It was pretty busy so I’m going to cut them some slack. Liked that they took the order via I-phone since it prevents mix-ups, does automatic separation of the bill, and makes the process overall quicker. I had to ask a few times for service for drinks but they did try to be responsive considering the large group. They were also very nice. Would like to go back!

This was my first time back to Magooby’s in 3 years. I brought my wife, my daughter, and her friend. I spent a grand total of $ 168 on the four of us. Con: The owner denied my Groupon for the amount paid of $ 12. The Groupon was expired and it clearly states that«The amount paid WILLNEVEREXPIRE and must continue to be honored by the merchant after the promotional value expires.» I then specifically pointed this out on the paper which he also promptly rejected. We had a mutual agreement(Groupon). I am a man of my word and my expectation is the same of others. Because of this basic principle we be not going back to Magooby’s. Other than this problem I would have rated Magooby’s a 4. Pros: Comedians were funny. Club was in good shape. Service was good. Seating was comfortable in our 100 section. On the lower level it gets tight. But that is typical for a comedy club. Food was good. However I cannot recommend the cheesesteak sub and fries. The $ 13.45 plus tax and tip of $ 16.80 is not worth it to me. Follow up 3÷22÷15: I contacted Groupon and their response was«These were redeemed around on 3÷14÷15. When the girl checked them it more then likely redeemed them. The person at the door should have accepted these.» Groupon provided me with paid value credit for a future Groupon purchase. I am grateful for Groupon. I will not be going back to Magooby’s.

Fun show and friendly faces from the front door to the wait staff. I loved that the folks who dealt with a long line of somewhat confused people were still friendly when I got to them. The parking lot is free, location is right off the main highway but note that the lot fills up quickly but dont fear, there’s an extra lot up the hill. The comedians I saw were pretty good when I attended. The main act picked on the audience members only a few times. Hey, I happen to like comedians with an act, the ones who have funny jokes and good material and not the ones who make a living off of making fun of the audience so I was happy but guess this would depend on the individual comedian. Waitress was very nice so that’s a definite plus. Oh! And there’s a «2 item per person» minimum which isn’t that bad. The service was a bit slow, though. I think there were too many tables per wait person. Also, when you pay at the end, you get what’s called an «exit ticket» with a 50% off coupon for the bar next door and 50% off an upcoming show but… the slowest part of the night was waiting for the waitress to take our payment, process it and dole out those hot exit tix. So, is the ticket worth it? Yes! For 50% off a good drink, you best believe it! Is it fun waiting around for it? Nope. But if you’re with a group of friends or having fun, the wait shouldn’t be bad. So let’s talk about the bar next door! Efficient and friendly bartenders and best of all, SCOTCHES, WHISKYS and BOURBONS!!! Oh yeah baby! And they’re not horribly priced either, especially if you use your handy dandy half off exit ticket for that good drink. But hey, if a chocolate martini is your thing, do you. It’s all good.

Other than being a fan of stand-up the best thing I liked about Magooby’s is the seating. There doesn’t seem to be a bad seat in the house and I appreciate the fact that it’s almost stadium type seating. The food is standard but good and service was OK. I bought the VIP card, which cost $ 75 but the benefits are 10% discount on food and drink, $ 5 admission price(non special events only), and preferred seating. After two trips here the card will have paid for itself.

The comedian I saw tonight was great. Very funny guy. That’s where the good ends. Service here doesn’t exist. My table had to ask three times where the server was. Every table around us/next to us was being served. We asked the same waitress twice if someone was gonna take our order. Both times she said yes. We even grabbed a food runner. No one was helping us. Eventually a server did appear, but a 45 minute wait time just to place a drink order is unacceptable. It took 10 minutes to get a bottle of beer. Fine. Took another 40 until my food-a plate of hummus-arrived. How do you sincerely expect anyone to adhere to a two item per person rule when we can’t even get served?! I work in the service industry. The other waitress should have started the tab and let the other girl close it. That is proper and good customer service. I am not coming back. Fix your service standards, please.

They always have great comedians in attendance! I have been to so many great shows here from Artie Lange to Damon Wayans to Wendy Lieberman — seriously great shows! I also love the people who open for the headliners sometimes they make me giggle more!!! I highly suggest filling out the comment cards because you will be entered to win 20 free tickets and who doesn’t want to laugh for free??? With the free shows you still have to purchase 2 items but I like that they let you buy food or water as your items which gives you flexibility and doesn’t make you feel like you have to drink though drinks always make people funnier(just saying)!! If you haven’t been to Magooby’s yet, I highly recommend going and there’s always tons of parking!!! One day I’ll check out their bat the Wit’s End but not today!!!

Had a Groupon that was about to expire so we came here last Friday and saw Joe Matarese, who was great, and a few opening acts, including Stavros Halkias, a Baltimore local, who I thought was hilarious. Tip: Don’t get here when doors open unless you want to sit right up front. I definitely did not want to but that’s where we ended up. Some other people were able to fight their way out of it though. I just shoveled down my food before the show started and tried to make sure I wasn’t doing anything awkward or anything else that could be commented on by any comedians. Luckily, one of the tables near us was filled with a wide variety of different awkward people, so, each comedian mostly focused on that table. There’s a 2 item minimum, either food, drink, or a combination. The menu wasn’t huge and the food was pretty basic, but good. We got the fish tacos(good) and the cheesesteak«sliders» which was actually just a sub roll cut into 3 portions. There’s an extensive mixed drink menu, plus some wine and beer. For two entrees and 5 or 6 drinks, it was around $ 80 before tip. Service was pretty quick and also friendly. Groupon’s are available pretty frequently, and the exit tickets for the night(the way they’ve ensured you’ve paid your tab) have half off deals so it’s really reasonably priced. Tons of parking, a lot easier than going to a comedy club downtown. Will definitely be back.

Fun date night option. Two-item minimum per person is very reasonable, and discount tickets aren’t too hard to come by over time. Fair amount of parking in the attached lot. Quality laughs which have been auditioned for attendee enjoyment, but with a development structure to support amateur comics. Seating capacity is healthy, with an indoor mini-amphitheater setup, plus tables right up front. Cute joke paintings and dark décor, good sound system, discreet and moderately attentive servers. Very handy that they carry around the spirits list on their phones. Food is surprisingly decent– wings are crispy and the panini hit the right savory and sweet notes. No problems with the exit pass system, and I consider the discounted drink coupon next door to be a bonus.

I enjoyed my time here very much. I am sure that the night will differ depending on the comics you see and how drunk they are during the sets. I found a Groupon and got an excellent deal($ 10 for two tix normally $ 36). It was not that busy so we had no issues waiting in the bar or getting to our table. Ordering was fine, they use iPods which is a step in the right direction. The only issue was that half of our order didn’t get through to the kitchen but it did come out after a little bit and it wasn’t cold. The buffalo tenders were solid, good portion and plenty of blue cheese. The fries are excellent!!! I love the seasoning they use. They have a good alcohol selection and the prices are decent. I will be back!
