Steak ‘n Shake

I love steak and shake! The four dollar meals are really good and get a shake to complete the meal. The fries are perfect to dip in your shake in. The drive thru isn’t worth going through because it takes too long so just go inside.

Steak and Shake’s food is pretty much consistent anywhere you go but the service is not. We strolled into this location on Thanksgiving morning because we couldn’t find a nice breakfast restuarant open (& we knew the food would be good). Due to it being a holiday, I anticipated the employees would be grumpy & rude but it was the total opposite. We were welcomed with a smile, the food was hot & fresh & my egg nog shake was delicious!
Bonus: There was another nice family enjoying a meal, too. The service was so amazing the tip we left was more than our bill. Thanks for being open on Thanksgiving & providing great service!

Awful!!! Service is terrible– you say something and you can hear the employees making fun of you behind the counter. Not the only one… other customers complaining as well– while paying the employee is apologizing for the manager that is not there… what a dive.

The food here is very hit or miss. I’m not usually a fan of fast food as it is, but the last time I got their burger I didn’t feel well after eating it. Not sure what the problem was with it, but I doubt I’ll be going back to Steak n Shake.

Regardless if there’s one car ahead of you, it will take forever to get through this drive thru. It is the slowest drive thru. Today I went into the drive through, placed my order, waited 15 minutes to get to the window only to be told, they’re out of what I ordered. Oy.

Restaurant is full of workers but service is so slow. Shakes took 20 minutes and food another 10 minutes. Had my eye on 9 employees when ready to pay at the counter, no one showed up for over 5 minutes. Never dining here again.

Love this place. Last time I went here was when I lived here. I had the chicken strips combo. With water and a butterfinger shake yummy. The waitress was great. The bathroom was clean. And the food was great.

Their shakes and food are good, same goes for their prices but service is not the best. The staff seem like they don’t care about you after you are seated.

You get a good meal for a decent price. Double cheeseburger with fries for $ 4! The fries were thin and crispy. I love the fry seasoning. My burger came out right, but not my Mom’s. They corrected it right away. The waitress was very nice and attentive. No issues there. The place was dead at 1130am, which seemed odd and concerned me. It wasn’t like that last time. One of the bathroom stalls was busted, so 1 toilet is a bad idea for a place of this size.

Firstly, did not greeted. We didn’t even know if our server was prepping our table. We followed her anyway. She spoke no words. No napkins. No utensils. Our drinks took about 20 minutes to get to us.
Food was okay.
But that customer service needs a makeover!

Went through the drive-​through took a long time, two shakes really good, large fry only half filled.

Let me start off by saying that this was my first time ever having steak&shake and the food was amazing but absolutely horrible service! Didn’t see a waiter at my table for 15 minutes. There was two tables in front of me that got service before anyone noticed that I had not been helped. Save your breath and go to another location, because I know I won’t be back to this one ever again!

The wait to get your food inside and outside in the drive thru is ridiculous! I CANNOT believe how long they made people wait in their drive thru! I left after 15 minutes but a friend of mine was stuck and said it took 45 minutes to an hour for some. Wth?! How hard is it to make a burger, some fries and a shake?!

Terrible! Even though my 4 year old son likes going there, they can’t seem to get orders correct! It’s not rocket science! My wife has been there 6 times in the past 3 months and each time her order was wrong and the service was slow! The last time we were there, they got her order wrong… TWICE!!! They gave us money off the bill, but I’d much rather they just get it right.

Service is far too slow. Showed up at 5pm and no waiter till 5:10pm. We put in our order immediately and we don’t see anything until 5:40p, but just the shakes. It’s not until 6pm that we actually got our food. I also noticed that many customers that came in after us got their food before us (same party size and included shakes too). Visiting with three kids, it’s impossible to keep them seated for that long with no food at all. Never coming back here again.
Then to top it all off the food sucks!

All I wanted was a chocolate shake. Been sitting here 25 minutes. Still no shake. One guy waited 15 minutes just for a mr.pibb. STUPID slow service. I’ll go to oberweiss next time

My finance and I stopped in on the way home from a wedding. I was a little tipsy and wanted food. The first place we hit up was a drive thru with far too many cars.
So we ended up here. After going back and forth at dining in or going to the drive thru, we went inside and waited to be seated. We should have just continued driving and not bother.
We waited for a table for about 20 minutes… not because all the tables were full but because there is no hostess on duty. So we stood and waited while the waitresses took orders, brought out food, and then tried to seat people.
In the process of waiting for a table, the line to pay a bill was rather long. I think I saw someone stand at the register for 10 minutes before he was allowed to pay.
I understand that there was a concert nearby and they may have been more busy than normal. But I felt like they were too understaffed to really handle everyone and that wasn’t really far.
The food was okay… but again this is a chain restaurant. So I expected it to taste like the one down the street and the one in the next state. This is why I avoid chain restaurants.

This place could be a winner, but it isn’t yet. I think it is a management problem … and that leads through all the other employees. Service was decidedly slow on our day, but that usually isn’t such a big problem. On our last visit though, they compounded slow service with terrible food.
Our table ordered three single hamburgers and one salad. The hamburgers were finished and then put under the heat lamp to wait for the tardy salad — for 15 minutes. Finally, the salad comes out and it is as fresh as a daisy and the hamburgers are all tepid! Hot plate and tepid burgers/​fries. Big mistake. When there is a difference in food arrival times for whatever reason, they should always offer the table to get the hamburgers now and the salad to follow — at least give us a choice.
This store location is always dirty too … sticky floor and counters. With a black & white tile floor, dirt really shows. Bathrooms are a pigsty also. Until they change managers, methinks this place will continue to bring up the rear (puns are always intended).

Good food and service… little dirty though but, it won’t stop me from going back.
Well it’s a Steak ‘n Shake… nothin’ too special about this location. All Steak ‘n Shake restaurants look the same and the food all pretty much tastes the same too.
Here’s the skinny:
Old building, rough lookin’ exterior.
Decent looking inside, considering.
Quick service for the most part.
Food is A-​OK but, typical S&S.
Here’s the fat:
Though the building is definitely old and the signage atop the entrance way is precariously perched, I still risked walking under it to get in. I’ve been through more harrowing situations…
The inside is decent, stained ceiling tiles, some cracked tiles and the grout looks kinda eh… but, the important part is that the seats & tables are clean. What’s NOT clean… the bathroom. I mean it’s «clean» but, when I went to wash my hands, there was a nasty, encrusted glass, pretty damn gross…

Being seated didn’t take long at all considering it was lunch time. The waitress (Amy) was also quick to get my order and all that too. Food came in a jiffy and was all in all good to go.
Bacon and Cheese double — good, not GREAT… it’s your typical Steak ‘n Shake burger. One thing that did stand out was the fact that this locations burgers weren’t swimming in grease like most other Steak ‘n Shakes I’ve been to.
Points for that!
All in all though I gotta give it a 3 star though… maybe 3.5 but, that bathroom just kinda ruined it a bit. Food and Service was good though.
