Three Oaks Motel

This is an awful place
The fridge did not work, WiFi did not work, the doors into the room were dirty.
They had painted the outside so it looks ok at first glance but its truly terrible.
At least the sheets were clean

Generally it seems that if you want to save a buck, you need open minded about your accommodations. The outside of this property is in need of some serious sweeping. One note, the street sign states that the rooms have HBO, they in fact do not but there is a cable network. Well let’s take a gander inside. The bathroom was clean but was showing some wear and tear. The lamp above the bed was out of order so the room was therefore dark. The carpet was generally clean and the bed acceptable. There was little road noise but because this is a low budget motel, the clients next door were very bad neighbors (yelling at each other about money of course and screaming periodically and slamming the front door). REAL neighbors from hell.

For 40 bucks a night, two days after Christmas, this is exactly what I would expect for this kind of place. It is clean but shabby. The ice costs 50 cents a bucket but the soft drinks are only 75. I was surprised to see a microwave and a refrigerated box. (a repurposed monster drink cooler– but what the heck– it works!) a few monthly tenants give the place a little of an unsavory flavor. But the folks are nice. Some over night guest were concerned about no heater. But my room had one of those dual purpose ac/​heater wall units. I think the manager finally gave up trying to explain it to the guests and just brought them blankets. Maybe they finally figured it out. 2011

Three Oaks is exactly what you should expect from a motel two blocks from the water in a small seaside town. The facility could certainly use updating, but it’s clean and everything works. It was a great place to stay when watching a middle-​of-​the-​night shuttle launch and needing to stumble back to bed right afterwards.
