Wow, by chance Kim and I stopped here for a bite. The menu made it difficult. So many tasty sounding dishes. Kim chose the steak, I chose the pork/veal meatballs. We weren’t that hungry when we came in, but we left empty handed. Just couldn’t let this delicious food become leftovers. Oh, and the owner, sorry didn’t get his name, was a delight to talk to. His staff, genuinely happy and friendly. We are definately going back

This is an excellent farm to table eatery and I’m so glad it’s only ten minutes from my house . Everything I’ve every eaten here is superb. Soups(ginger pear butternut soup with herbs and cashews was fabulous, great Bermudan style fish chowder), salads are perfectly chilled and fresh. Appetizers are tasty, creative, and coupled with one of their great soups or salads makes a fine light meal. Entrees are always good, creative, and you can tell a lot of thought and effort goes into creating their dishes. Steaks and chops are flavorful and always cooked exactly as I like. Fish is local catch and what they create with it is awesome and again always cooked to perfection. Ive never had a even close to a bad meal here And has become a «go to“restaurant for us. They have awesome specials and I love that they change the menu up just enough to keep it interesting and I look forward to the creative seafood specials. It’s amazing what they make in this little restaurant. Has to be one of the best restaurants anywhere. Glad it’s right in tiverton . The only con I have is that their dessert choices are too heavy to enjoy after eating a meal here. I suggest some lighter dessert offerings.

The meal we had was exceptional from start to finish. It was apparent that each course was prepared with care and each bite was absolutely delicious. The waitstaff also made this a great experience. Giving opinions on dishes and letting us sample the wine before committing completed the experience. We started with the ceviche and octopus and decided to add the Sakonnet oysters. All were delicious. For our main meal two of us ordered the lamb shank special of the night and one ordered the pan cooked skate. Not a bite left on anyone’s plate. We finished off by sharing the lemon-buttermilk pudding with huckleberry sauce. Again, delicious. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back.

My husband and I are big foodies and we’re huge fans of Steve Johnson, the chef/owner of the Red Dory. We used to eat in his restaurant in Boston all the time. If you enjoy fresh local ingredients and great seafood, this is the place to go.. I love the fried oyster appetizer and the pastas are delicious. Would highly recommend! And don’t forget to get the lemon buttermilk pudding for dessert!!!

What. a Joke went with my wife at 5:30 on a Saturday place was empty. They asked us if we had reservations I had to laugh. They offered us a place at the bar telling us they had people coming in between 6:00 — 7:00 I looked at them and said the place is empty. If this is how they treat customers from the start I can only imagine how bad it goes from there. We won’t be back, your loss we love to eat & drink.

I’m a foodie so I like to look for places that will offer foods that I don’t regularly cook or have never tried. We are locals and had a great experience. with the service and the food. We started with well chilled oysters that were delicious. We moved on to shrimp and grits that had a perfect amount of heat and creaminess. Next was the Mediterranean platter that contained huge flavors with olives. Babaganoush, Chickpeas, edamamme, almonds, feta and a few other treats. My only complaint is that I wish it was served with pita bread. We ended with the best dessert I have had in a long time. For $ 6, they offered a caramel custard with raisin/cranberry biscotti, fabulous! It will be added to our restaurant rotation.

Eaten here twice. First time, soon after they opened, I think they were trying too hard, hadn’t figured out what they could do well, how to get things out on time. This time: food was interesting, not standards but original ideas, and mostly pulled off pretty well. Good fresh fish, desserts very tasty. Excellent, friendly service. Looking forward to returning.

Soooo good. Fried oyster app was perfect, with a wonderful slaw and tart tarter sauce. Entrée was meatballs with orecchiette and kale. Pasta was slightly crunchy after a pass in a cast iron skillet in the oven. Just perfect melding of flavors and textures. Can’t wait to go back.

Top freakin notch food! We were looking for seafood so drove from Providence. I had haddock ceviche for app, cold seafood salad & shrimp and grits for my entrée. Loved all of it. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like haddock for the ceviche but it was perfect with hints of dill and mint. Salad with a variety of fish was good, loved the beans add to the dish. And shrimp was perfectly cooked with grits. Great bread, wood fire, pleasant server!

Delightful! Everything was perfect. The grilled sardines appetizer(which I have back for 3 times in two weeks) are fantastic. Super fresh, slightly charred. The Linguine with red clams sauce was particularly good. Mopped up the sauce with the homemade rustic bread. The the roast chicken was also a hit at our table. The wait staff were friendly, professional and helpful. The ambiance is modern but welcoming. The view from the restaurant and deck was charmingly Rhode Island.

Thoroughly enjoyed my experience at the Red Dory. The restaurant was beautiful, the food was delicious and the service was excellent. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for a tasty and unique dining experience. I had the bucatini with cauliflower, garlic, anchovies, capers, and toasted pine and it was light and delicious!

In an region that seems inundated with humdrum shanty shacks and awful fried food chain-like traps(you know who you are), The Red Dory is a welcome and fairly priced stop. while not quite original, the lobster risotto, choppino-ish stew and fish chowder were seasonally fresh and perfect. Spare, sassy, saucy, salady and sublime. More like TRD in this area, please! I’ll be baaaaack.

We had a terrific meal tonight. We arrived(2) at 6:30 right after a much needed rain shower and discovered the restaurant filled to capacity. We had not made a reservation and hoped we would get a table with little wait time. Was told about a 60 min wait but the hostess suggested outside on the deck would be nice. Luckily the busboy was wiping off tables and chairs on the outside deck. We sat down at a nice table outside and right then the sun came out and the view of the Sakonnet River was spectacular with a flotilla of boats and day sailers passing by. We ordered a Rose and rum and coke. The Rose came in a Rocks glass and was only half filled. The rum and coke was 7.00 which was fine, but the Rose in the half filled glass was 11.00 and we thought this was not right and are only thumbs down. We ordered the Corn-Meal crusted fried oysters with tartar sauce, lemon and a delicious cole slaw. The oysters were spectacular with a light flaky coating. For the main course we had the Grilled swordfish with ratatouille, fingerlings and salsa verde. Awesome! The Roast chicken with preserved lemon and a summer vegetable salad was also excellent! The chicken was moist and tender. For dessert we shared a Lemon buttermilk pudding with huckleberry sauce and this became right then and there my favorite dessert! The hostess, and waitstaff were attentive and gave great suggestions. The owner/chef came by our table and asked us how we liked our meal and also took our dessert order. Will definitely go to The Red Dory again.

I would move to Tiverton just so I could live near this place. Had Bluefish there the other night. Was without doubt the best fish dish I’ve had ever. The salmon cakes were wonderful too as were the oysters. What I also love about the restaurant is that everything seems local and in season without hitting you over the head with it in a pretentious way. Sadly, no room for dessert.

Well, I’ve been back to The Red Dory and am pleased to report that I still really like what they’re doing. We started at the bar with drinks and oysters while we waited for our table. The Sakonnet Point oysters were so fresh and wonderfully briny. Once seated, we shared the Grilled Octopus. As with the first time I tried this dish, it was again delicious and I hope they never take it off the menu. Although, I could swear the portion was much smaller this time. Hmmmm… I had the Skillet Roasted Skate for my main meal and I was so excited to try something I’ve never had before. The skate itself was delicious and flavorful and seemed to be cooked just right. I do have to say on this dish however, that the sauce and vegetable accoutrements were crazy salty. Yes, there were capers in the dish but I think they also must have added a lot of salt because I my mouth was burning and parched by the time I finished eating. My husband had the Bucatini and he really like the flavor but again, his dish was also very salty. I do have to mention that I was a bit disappointed to see the waitstaff just as timid and«green» as they were the first time I dined here. I was hoping those kinks would’ve been worked out and I think it’d be great if the waitstaff were polished up a bit in terms of knowing the ingredients and the dishes and also in terms of dealing with dining customers. For this particular meal, we had FOUR people tend to our table. Thus forcing us to repeat requests and clarify matters that had been settled with other waitstaff members. Overall, I still like the food here and I love that you can get seafood dishes that are more original than most of the restaurants in this area and I will definitely be back again soon.

Very swanky considering the location — great visuals, beautiful location, and fabulous food. Have to say that the service was also very, very good. No complaints, but a tad bit noisy(to be expected in a restaurant that everyone seems to love). Next time I plan to eat at the bar or in the main dining room(we were in the side room).

Hello, I made the mistake of coming here with no endorsement, or looking up menu… my bad. I have to start this way because based on the two things we did find to try, the food must be great. But, those two things were the only things… main courses excluded…(just came for quick bite… lunch), and it was«Mothers day»! Now if you’re one who likes, squid, mussels, sardines, oysters, and such, these mostly dominated the menu, especially the apps! We just came in for some scallops, or chowder, fish… of some kind, none of which are here, except the monk fish offering. This place is for the refined palate, or folks who seek out fine dining… that’s fine, it’s probably spectacular! I heard they will be adding a «simple» lunch menu, soon. And as a suggestion, it would have helped the uninformed walkin to have a menu on display as soon as one enters, so they can see if it’s for them. If you’re reading this review you must have access to their menu, if I had know it, I wouldn’t have gone… but, still glad I did, and I plan on returning… after Memorial Day. The 2 stars are for the lack of variety, not quality… but only in our case, like I said, we just don’t care for all those variety of fish items in the apps. I wish them well, and hope they make it.

Wanted to like this place, since it was recommended, but it was very disappointing . Went on a Saturday and was shocked that they had no specials. Menu is very limited. Bread has a nasty black crust that is almost inedible. My wife ordered linguine with clams– most clams were rubbery. I had the sirloin which had nice seasoning but 20% was gristle. Surprised that a $ 28 steak came with fries and not something more appropriate. I wish the owner the best of luck, but we won’t be back.
