If you’re looking for excellent chicken, go no further than Maryland Fried Chicken. Ignore the Yankee taint in the name — you’re getting delicious fried chicken. The place is packed at breakfast time, so I hear, but I generally only come for lunch. Get there early or you won’t find a seat. The menu is, as you might guess, mostly chicken — white, dark, strips, livers and gizzards are available — and come either as a «snack» with just a biscuit or «dinner» with biscuit, mashed potatoes and cole slaw. The chicken is fantastic — just enough crunch, just enough salt, just enough pepper. I could eat it all day. The sides are excellent, too. I especially like the white pepper gravy. My true love, though, are the fried chicken livers. They’re always perfectly cooked every time I come — crunchy on the outside but still tender and moist on the inside. A little Texas Pete splashed on every couple of bites keeps the palette clean, especially when washed down with some delicious sweet tea!
