The bún special bowl was great! The grilled meats were perfect, and the restaurant was clean and bright.

It was a cold and rainy evening in the Glass City. I had just grabbed Sincero B. from work, and as he hopped in the car he looks at me and asks, «Hungry?» I reply with a, «Yes», and thus began our journey to Amango, A Restaurant. When we wandered inside my buddy was greeted in an old school Italian way… «Hello. The usual spot? **insert your own imaginings here**.» It was just short of the ring kiss, haha! Anywho, we were seated, and placed our order with the server. My friend had his usual(Phở), and I grabbed some Phở with Beef Flank and Brisket. As I mentioned, it was cold, and would be ever so satisfying for such weather. That and when in a Vietnamese restaurant I make it my first dish. I also ordered the Vietnamese omelet(the real name fleets me). It would come mid main course as I had to remind our server, but as I was in no rush. It really wasn’t a big deal for me. We were here for a nice long meal, and all the food that we ordered along with some great conversation made it exactly that, long. The food was good, and for Toledo great. I’ve traveled far and wide, and my palate has had some fantastique Phở experiences. The broth was very good, the noodles the same, and the normal trimmings were nice and fresh. Amango is good, and ranks up there amongst the above average. (My fave was once more challenged and not dethroned. It resides at a undisclosed location in ABQ. Not really, and if you really want to know just check my reviews.) The service was good, but my opinion might be skewed as my friend was a friend. So I must leave you to formulate your own when you visit. Amango was quite fitting on that dreary night in Toledo. We had some tasty and hot Phở that evening, and the service was ideal. I’ll be back when I’m home. If anything for the experience, or do I mean the memories? Hmm… I’ll leave you to figure that one out.

I realize a fourth update on Amango may seem ridiculous but I am really impressed with how their menu keeps changing and expanding. I don’t visit often enough to understand how frequently things update but the fact that they had soft shell crab as an app was a pleasant surprise. It was a crab all chopped up before being fried, and it was a fun way to eat what is without a doubt one of my favorite proteins. I also tried a most delicious egg & sausage banh mi. It was a really unique combo of flavors, with savory and salty mixed with the tang and brightness of the cilantro and pickled veggies. The fried egg had a soft yolk and the sausage was cut lengthwise into a few spears that added a great subtle note. For a saturday lunch, the place was pretty empty. The service was great, and they’ve taken to projecting CNN on the back wall which added an oddly wonderful element. It’s a one of a kind environment for a one of a kind menu in Toledo. Check it out if you haven’t already.

I’m so happy I found this gem! For starters, let me say, that I am a HUGE fan of Vietnamese food. I love the freshness & simplicity of the cuisine. I was very skeptical at first because I come from California where you could get the best of every type of cuisine out there. So yes, naturally I was judgmental. I came here with my friend because, according to her, it’s the best phở in town. She wasn’t lying. I then rekindled my love for phở and started coming here on a consistent basis. I love their phở with rare steak but recently I’ve been having Rocky put tendon in there for me and it sent me over the moon! The tendon added such a rustic flavor which I love! Takes me back to eating caldo de res at home. Their service is excellent & you could tell they take pride in their dishes. Presentation is always immaculate. We’ve had the spring rolls with the peanut sauce(so good), quail, fried rice, pad Thai & a dry noodle dish with chicken which was also delicious. The only negative thing I’d have to say is that their drink selection is terrible and you’d have to pay $ 2 for a can of soda. But, if you’re adventurous, try it! You won’t be disappointed. I take my 9 hr old stepdaughter here for phở and she loves it! It’s quite a sight to see(:

Bahn mi. Delicious. Pad Thai. Rubbery, clumpy, and not filling. Spring roll. Also rubbery and only had lettuce and noodles in it. Service, it was not a good night for service. We got seated right away and then we had to wait for menus. The waitress was young and eager but everything was just off. Our plates were cleared while we were in the midst of eating. The spring rolls came out quick but then it took 25 mins for the pad Thai to come out and then another 10 mins for the Bahn mi. Entrees should come out at the same time. The kitchen was pretty hectic and there were many other tables experiencing issues. Moral of the story: Bahn Mi Take Out Only!
