Great place to see the world’s largest collection of lithophanes! Images carved into very thin pieces of delicate porcelain, lithophanes are usually accented with a candle or soft light positioned behind them. The curator of this little museum is very knowledgeable of the involved process behind the creation of these beautiful pieces of art. He’s also more than eager to give free tours and answer any questions you may have. This place is a little gem and definitely worth a visit if you’re in the Toledo Botanical Gardens area. The building is small, but the large collection of lithophanes are presented very nicely.
