Our new favorite diner. Went there on Thursday for the first time, and again tonight because the first time was so good. Excellent food with great portions and good prices. Great friendly smiling staff outstanding service both times. Oh, and the desserts are also outstanding. Extensive menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Thank you Glendale Garden Café.

The atmosphere of this restaurant is one of a nice family, community place. The owners have pictures of their children up and it just creates a nice environment. The menu has a huge variety and something for everyone. I’ve been going here for around 15 years and never disappointed. Dine in or take out, the food is great!

SWMBO and I returned this past Friday for another meal without Little SWMABO. We hadn’t planned on GGC, but fate brought us. You see, once a month my mother-in-law takes her grandkids to a movie after school on Friday afternoon. We take that time for an adult dinner. Jackie asked me where we should go and I suggested a great burger joint we go to on occasion. Prior to us meeting there, Jackie spoke with her brother who reminded her that it was Friday… during Lent. Oooops! No meat for you! SO, since GGC has such a huge menu, and we like it, there we were. Jackie got a Fried Shrimp dinner and I looked at a couple of seafood selections but then wound up going with an all-you-can-eat whitefish dinner. With 2 sides and a roll, it was a great value at $ 12.95. I really like the soups there, so I asked if there was a selection of the day without meat. The waitress said just French Onion and that it was an upcharge. The extra coin didn’t bother me. Just not in the mood for that soup. As I was ordering the sald and fries as my sides, the server said«oh yeah, we do have clam chowder». I took that. Jackie’s Dinner looked great and she said it was. My clam chowder was AWESOME. They continue their streak of great soups. When my fish came… HOLYMOLY! It was like an 11′ oval platter with a fistful of steak fries and FOURHUGEFISHFILLETS. I mean these were easily 4 – 5 oz fillets when raw. I said«Man, that’s a lot of fish». Server says, «let me know if you need more». Now, I’m a big boy and I likes my fried fish, but this was a challenge in front of me. Anyway, the handbreaded in house fillets were lightly coated and crispy and hot. The tartar sauce they served was well balanced. Not too sweet, not too mayonnaisey, just right. This is fish and chips that you HAVE to try. It was so good that I was going to finish if I could. I had just started digging in to the third fillet when the server came and asked if I needed a refire. I LAUGHED… uh, no. I just could not eat the fourth one. I probably COULD have, but it was such a great meal that I didn’t want to end up uncomfortable from eating too much. At the end, the server asked how everything was and we had a little discussion. I told her it was excellent, but that was an awful lot of fish to serve. She said the owner had asked her a couple of times if it was enough or too much. I said, too much. Especially since it was AYCE. Seriously, there must have been a lot of fish thrown away. I say, give two or even three and let the customer order more if its not enough. I’ll be back for that fish again. I’ll even tell them to only give me a small portion. I’m not too shy to ask for a refire. Not with fish THIS good!

Being a widower who hates to cook, I often drive the 16 miles from Temperance, Mi to dine at the Glendale Café. I’m a restaurant junkie… I know about every restaurant within a 100 mile radius of Toledo. The Glendale is, by far, my favorite moderately-priced eatery. They have the most extensive menu that I have ever seen. I have tried many, many items on that menu and have NEVER had a «bad» experience when it comes to the sheer quality of their food… THEBESTBANGFORYOURBUCK, BARNONE! If you’ve never been there, give it a try… You won’t be disappointed… You’ll be back for more!

Every time I come to Toledo from Cleveland It is a must that I stop and eat at Glendale Café. I love the boneless breaded chicken wings. Big portions for little money.

I’ve been to Glendale Gardens several times for breakfast, and I’ve always received fresh, hot and fast food and coffee. It is a typical diner setting with standard fare, but they put effort and quality into their food.

Went and had the broasted chicken(I am a big fan of it) the chicken was over cooked and dry in the center. I tld the server and they said they would tell the cook and would try better next time. I was alittle put off by this but they were busy and it was late. I will try again and if its the same I will never return.

Great reasonably priced food. The café has a huge menu and almost everything is delicious and made very well. The exceptions are the omelets… The omelets«with cheese» don’t have cheese mixed in; they have a lukewarm processed single serve cheese slice thrown on top of them. Despite that, all of the other food is great.

A favorite of mine from years back(when I first started coming here, the quads in the pictures above the register were infants). This place always delivers. Good service, good food, and reasonably priced. I especially enjoy their breakfasts, served anytime.

Service… Great! Food… Eh… If anything, those burgers were from frozen patties. I know the look and taste of it — unimpressive. Wouldn’t eat there unless I had to.

Yes. I am a fan. Mainly because of the home-cooked, non-restaurant chain meals that they serve. Wow. beef tips, turkey and stuffing, hot sausage. all good. Ribs, are adequate. probably the only item that I would not actually recommend. I agree with Jinx in a previous review that the décor is a bit dated but the food more than makes up for the décor. Makes you feel like you’re in a genuine diner.

Stopped here on Saturday, before going to the Toledo Zoo, for a quick bite. My daughter had the yummy cabbage soup and practically licked the bowl. I enjoyed the chicken salad on a croissant. Coffee was good too… We then came back on Sunday around Noon to have another meal. My daughter loved the Lasagna, I had a taste and she was right, very yummy. I had a Burger & fries, coffee was good again. The service is warm and friendly. The prices are perfect. If we are in the neighborhood we will be sure to stop again…

Not as many good independent family restaurants in Toledo as their used to be, especially on this side of town. The strip by walmart/kroger has Applebee’s, Star Diner and other chain places. GGC, as it is oddly named, is sitting in the kroger parking lot, and looks like a nondescript cousin of GNC, you’d almost not know it is a restaurant. The décor is faded and in need of redecoration, but it doesn’t matter. They have a vast menu as others noted, and everything we had was solid. My mom had surf and turf which was a nice NY strip and a ton of shrimp. Very friendly, attentive service. And they make their own pies. This was our second trip.

Huge servings at a good price!!! Pretty traditional stuff eggs, bacon, sausage, breakfast stuff. I got the country skillet breakfast special($ 6.25) and I was only able to finish half of it(ate cereal earlier that morning, saving the rest for later). It’s hard to get breakfast food wrong and they didnt. As I’m eating my leftovers… I think they gave me a whole potato in the hash brown portion of my skillet… this easily could’ve been 3 meals(albeit small)
