Horrible !!! Just nasty ! I ordered 2 meals and so did my friend. 1 was stew chicken with white rice and cabbage to eat for dinner and jerk chicken for lunch !!! This is the most disgusting thing I’ve ever tasted in my life. The chef didn’t even remove the skin on the meat. The chicken was pink on the inside ! And the rice was sticky and too sweet ! The stew chicken taste as if I’m eating literal sugar ! Worst thing I’ve ever tasted ! Jerk was nasty too! My American friend couldn’t even eat hers ! We will make sure never to go there again! We should have known when we found out it was in a gas station! Then the cashier couldn’t explain food properly !’ Not to mention she is American ! Just horrible ! This is BARFARONI!!!

The food here is great! I usually get the brown stew chicken, rice and peas, and Festival. The chicken is very flavorful, and falls off the bone.

Delicious curry goat and cabbage stir fry. I’ve had better coco bread, but the festival was a first and it was sweet and yummy. Rice and peas were good, oxtails were okay but expensive for the amount of oxtails in the meal. I think like $ 12 for a large for only two oxtails. We will be back!!! But I’d suggest calling ahead.

I love it here! The food is delicious and the service is always wonderful. I typically order the goat curry over white rice with extra gravy and it never disappoints! The food is a tiny bit pricey but it’s definitely worth it.

OK. The first thing you have to get comfortable is that this place is in a gas station. That’s right the place you normally get tube like food off the«roller». That said the Jerk is irie mon! As good as I have had in Jamaica. Spicy, with a choice of white or dark meat. The cabbage, festival bread and rice and beans are all great sides. Liked the curried goal as well. Plus this is the only place that I know of in the area that has Pattys. Beef and chicken and you can get them to take home.

I was a little surprised at the location, it’s in a gas station/c-store. We had very low expectations but the food was great. I had combo meal of jerk chicken and oxtails, rice & peas and cabbage. We didn’t realize it was basically a carry out, only two small tables by the window if you want to dine in.

Perfect place for students to try new foods, for a beginner I would recommend the goat. However for the more experienced the ox tail. Love the food here, and the staff. Great place to stop, make sure to try something different! They will give you samples to try so you can make your choice.

Food… AMAZING! I’m very picky with my Caribbean food, growing up on it, and this place(now called Jamaican Spice) did not disappoint! Food was great, I ordered a large Curry Goat with Stir-Fry Cabbage and rice and peas, portions were big, food fresh and delicious! I want to go back for more! Plus, finding a place that has my favorite drink Ting, just brought excitement! I hope they plan to add some things to the menu soon. The place isn’t in the greatest of locations, and it’s a hole in the wall, but the food is well worth it!

Their stirfried cabbage and goat curry were great. I also got the coco bread, which was like a giant hawaiian roll(delicious, of course). The service was so friendly and helpful. I did not expect a lot based on location, but I will be back.

I can’t believe that Toledo has Jamaican food! That said, I didn’t actually expect much, but was pleasantly surprised by Mirage(aka Jamaican Express). I second everyone else’s reviews in that the place is definitely a very dive-y kind of take out joint attached to a convenience store of sorts. But don’t let the informal space deter you, the food is great! We got the oxtail, curry goat, and jerk chicken to go, which were all very good. The jerk chicken was REALLY spicy; I don’t tolerate spicy very well, so maybe you won’t struggle as much as I did. But it was delicious nonetheless. Oxtail was tender and fall-off-the-bone. The rice and beans were solid, I wasn’t quite as psyched about the festival(cornbread fritters), would take the rice and beans over that, but worth trying just for the novelty. The lady at the counter was very nice and welcoming – always a plus. Will be back!

Great food, and I like how I can order a different size depending on how hungry I am.(medium is usually just right with a beef patty on the side)

Just stopped into Mirage Express on a whim looking to try something different for lunch. I tried the jerk chicken with rice and beans and island corn. The food came quickly and was very reasonably priced for the amount that was there. The jerk chicken was delicious — amazing flavor and plenty of spice. I’ll definitely be back again for more.

Great food at a good price, I love the jerk chicken with the cabbage and festivals myself. The curried goat and oxtail are also good(the ox tail has many small bones however). Small place so ordering to go is best, though I usually eat in since very few people do and there is often an open spot.

Mirage was surprisingly good. I got the oxtails and the goat, with the festival and rice with gravy. Definitely try the festival! It was so good. The oxtails were pretty good, but there wasn’t that much meat in them so it wasn’t very filling. The goat was good as well. All in all I will definitely be back.

I’m going to resist the temptation to compare Mirage Express to Dexter’s, because it’s a different type of restaurant, entirely. As the name implies, ME was intended to be more of a «take out joint,» and it fits that bill perfectly. The service was fast and friendly. It took 5 minutes to prepare three meals. The prices were low…14 bucks fed me and my wife, and when we were done eating, we were more than satisfied.(Mind you, I didn’t feel stuffed like a gluttonous hippopotamus with gastroparesis, but I don’t need to feel that way after EVERY meal!) The food was excellent. The curried goat with stir fried cabbage was great. The jerk chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly; it fell off the bone and brought on just enough heat. The cornbread fritters(Festival) were fantastic. Not so great were the oxtails. They were«just ok,» as was the rice and beans. Although ME doesn’t have alcohol, they have a cooler full of American and Jamaican soft drinks. The patties? Like those from Dexter’s, the patties, unfortunately, are not made in house. Caribbean food is something that this town has been lacking; I’m really psyched that Toledo has a second Jamaican restaurant!
