I used to work here back in the day, so it’s interesting for me to note how far The Oar House has come! At that time, it was basically a biker bar that also attracted boaters, sand volleyball players, some college kids and some locals(Shorelanders/PointPlacers). There was, essentially, no food and almost no draft beer(or bottled beer, for that matter), only cans. Definitely a dive. Plenty of fights. Great location, but no atmosphere. Now, the place has spruced itself up, and has added a great menu. It’s a slightly scaled down version of the menu from the Bier Stube(same chef)…or…is it called the House of Eats? Either way, the burgers are good, and the chicken chunks and sauces are great. The beer selection? Could use some serious improvement. Location: Outstanding. It’s located on the Ottawa river. Great sunsets. During the summer, people jet ski or boat in, and in the winter, when the ice is thick enough, they ride in on sleds(you know, what some people call«snowmobiles.») The huge patio is serviced by an outdoor bar, and sand volleyball leagues play, on two courts, all summer long. It’s not the best bar in town but it’s still a cool place to eat, drink and chill.

Great place to visit, by land or by water. The food is amazing, the volleyball is a blast, and the staff make an effort to know your name. A local favorite place. Glad we have it!
