Love the Y. But when I pay almost $ 800 for an annual family membership(plus all the extras for classes) I should expect a bit more. Actually a lot more. This Y has great staff. Never had a problem with them. I’d definitely give them five stars! but this is not a review about the staff. Unless you come in the mornings, good luck trying to find a place to sit, or a gym to shoot hoops in, or a machine to work on. Workout room is also almost always packed. My major issue with this location: The amount of unattended teenagers is ridiculous. They’re loud, obnoxious and rude. Make a huge mess of the common area. Take over the TV’s. Then the gym. The pool is nice. They have a slide(only open during certain hours) and a decent size lap pool. Expect to get a bit cold though. The pool area is a bit chilly. Locker rooms are a decent size. Family locker rooms have four(?) bathrooms with showers. A fair amount of lockers but not nearly enough room if there is more than two families in there. I would rather not come here. But their daycare staff is wonderful. And they offer certain classes that other Y’s don’t. And when it’s busy, good luck trying to find a parking spot. Especially if Start Highschool has an event/game going on. Also, always call and check schedules. They have so many classes at the gym and the pool, so if you’re going to do your own thing you might not be able too. Schedule online is not always reliable.

When I signed up, no one bothered to tell me they RENT out the WHOLEYMCA to a church for most of the day on Sunday(my preferred gym day). If I had known this, I wouldn’t have joined. So that’s $ 50 each month down the toilet. What makes me madder about this place though is they promote themselves as so military friendly and how they bend over backwards to help military families. Totally False. They run multi million dollar ad campaigns promoting how they serve the military yet it took me 3 visits to 3 different Y’s and about 5 phone calls to even get 1 person who knew what the ad campaign was about. And she didn’t even know that much. Long story short, they don’t do anything for the military and I can’t wait until my useless membership is up. For the record, I’m not anti Y(just anti Toledo Y). I was a member in Philadelphia and loved it.

Been here a few times, west Toledo YMCA is fairly new. Wonderful and welcoming staff greet it’s members the moment they enter the facility. Family oriented association. Kid zone is clean, has a camera in the play area and see the kids playing on a monitor in the gym while you work out. This location has a good size swimming area and a lap pool. The gym is clean, equipments are fairly new and well maintain.

I am truly annoyed by the number of unattended kids you find here. I thinking that families have decided because the c in the YMCA is Christian that this is a great place to drop off their kids. Dear lord their is no time where their aren’t kids running around. The pool is nice but always noise their us always a wait for a machine in the weight room. The positive here are the instructors they really motivate you and take care with kids.
