Fresh cut and cleaned pork, beef, chicken, and more! The Country Butcher has a handful of assorted local cheeses, condiments(jarred from local farms) and goodies spread throughout the store. It’s a small venue, but they have everything you need to stock the refrigerator or freezer for a long time. Catering/party services available, and they are able to even spice and cut any of your orders to your liking! I left with a 5-rib, bone-in pork roast that was pre-spiced and it was DELISH! Although it is a little pricey, I will be back again! They warned us when walking in to buy well before the holidays, because they are usually sold out from the locals around then, throughout the year!

rented a pig roaster this weekend! They gave great advise about what to do and what you would need. i was just really disappointed with the fact that the gauges on the equipment i rented we broken!!! When i got the cooker home and started my first pig roast!!! i was nervious and had a party of 60 people coming! i woke up early and started the coles and prepared the pig! Put it on only to find out the gauge on the equipment was broken… this is a VERYIMPORTANT part of the process… TEMPERATURE! !!! i worked thru it stresssed out!!! Got it done and everything turned out fine. But when i brought this to the attention of the owner upon return… His response was all the gauges are broken. i found that to be offensive!!! Sorry but you are renting me the equipment i expect it to WORK!!! if you know the gauges are broken… THANFIXTHEM!!! This is a part of renting equipment! You put me at a disadvantage out of tue gate!!! i was able to over come the major problem!!! THANKGOD! !!! 60 happy people latet! i understand you prefer to cook the pig but dont cook the guy renting the equipment to do it!!! Unilocal101!!!

This place is a hidden gem! It is literally out in the middle of nowhere. I probably never would have found this place if I hadn’t been exploring back road ways to get to Costco in Enfield from Willington. Luckily I was taking this journey on a Friday since they are only open on Friday and Saturday. I zoomed past it, did a double take, then made a U-ie to go check it out. The Country Butcher is a family-owned operation specializing in beef and pork, although they sell other things, too. Their beef comes from Iowa(I think) from ranchers that do not use hormones or antibiotics and pledge to humanely treat the cattle. They do their own butchering in-house, and only sell prime and the highest grade of select cuts. This is not your supermarket beef. Their pork comes from PA. In addition to steaks and roasts, they also make a huge variety of sausages fresh every week(that’s what they are doing the other days of the week). Also available are a veritable plethora of canned goods(such as pickled good and jams), smoked cheese(they don’t make the cheese, but they smoke it!), Bell(& something) chickens, and eggs from their own pasture raised hens. If you live in or are passing through Northeaster CT on a Friday or Saturday, I urge you to travel a couple miles north of I-84 and pay homage to The Country Butcher.

This small store front is the best specialty meat shop I’ve been to in CT. I hesitate to say ‘best butcher in CT’ because you won’t find every cut/roast/steak a butcher should carry, but the meatstuffs they do have are all fantastic. Seasonally they get really awesome thigns too. Capons and fresh geese, ftw! They have some steaks, some hams(country style hams too!!!), some house made sausages and kielbasas… their black forest bacon is hands-down the best bacon I’ve ever had and their house beef jerky is of the same quality. Both are smoked in-house. They have a lot of other specialty foods, pickles, sauces too, all of it delicious. Their prices are a little higher than what you’d pay at the mega mart, and you may spend a little extra money in gas to get there seeing as it’s in the quiet corner, but it’s definitely worth every penny. The hours are a little funky too, so check to make sure they’re open before you go.
