I am an absolute camping novice. I grew up in the city and have never missed a day without showering. That being said, I was pretty worried about camping out at Kirch Flat for a rafting trip down the King’s river. I was told that it’s as close as you can get to being down &dirty with nature. There’s no running water or electricity. Oh and did I mention that I was afraid of bugs? yea… But the site did have some amenities: — Kings river(main water source) — Two outhouses with occasional toilet paper. — 17 campsites — Fire-pits — A couple picnic benches — Oak and pine trees for shade — Great view of the bazillion stars &galaxies at night Surprisely, camping at Kirch Flat was actually really fun! It might have been the company I was with, but there weren’t that many bugs(I don’t have one bug bite), there were candles in the outhouses to burn off the smell &brighten them at night, & there was a park ranger always driving around so I felt pretty safe. Plus the King’s river is gorgeous and perfect for some good ol’ fashion rapids. The campground was completely full when I went this past weekend. &I heard that people book them way in advance… so plan ahead!
