Well I don’t give many 5 Star ratings, but I must say this place deserves it. Just a great job with the entire establishment, you can tell a lot of pride went into creating this place. The brisket and ribs were outstanding, and just a great place to hang out and enjoy a nice meal! Well done!

I loved Tejas Chocolate when we ran across their stand at the Tomball Farmers Market. The chocolate is locally crafted with simple ingredients and so yummy. And they sell truffles in the store. The cappuccino is my favorite but honey lavender is delicious too. Then they opened a store front and started selling BBQ?! It’s so good! I recommend going early if you want brisket. It’s worth it and they’re likely to sell out. The turkey is really good too. I saw the carrot soufflé in a few other reviews and was skeptical but on our last trip we decided to give it a chance. Wow. I’ve never really had anything like it but it was a little like baked pudding and a little like cake with a sweet flavor. I don’t know how to describe it but my husband, two picky boys and I all loved it.

Tejas is a high quality local business which is hard to find today. Just one of the amazing gems popping up in Old Town Tomball! Great barbecue and house made chocolates!

This is a nice cozy spot with an unusual combination of BBQ and Chocolate. I tried both and even dessert. I ordered the Spud which was rather small for the $ 9 price tag… fully loaded with chopped beef. The beef was not as delicious as I expected and furthermore it wasn’t hot. The entire spud including the beef was room temperature at best! Moving on to the chocolate. I dont remember all of what I had but one piece was the Chipolate(?) chocolate. It was tasty and had somewhat of a kick to it. There’s several different types of chocolate to choose from and I’m sure anyone could find something they like. Finally, dessert. I tried the bread pudding. First of all, the piece I had didn’t look like the piece I saw another gentleman receive from the kitchen, mine was covered in a chocolate sauce of some kind I believe. I’m not a fan. It was kind of bitter and did not compliment the bread at all. I noticed just about all of the reviews are 5 stars. That could be for several reasons, but if you’re interested in this place you should give it a shot. Maybe this was just a one off day with the food, and I should add the lady running the cash register, who i believe is the owner was very knowledgeable about the chocolate and generally very enthusiastic… which I can appreciate.

Amazing! We did a bbq pilgrimage to the heart of Texas BBQ and Tejas set the bar no one else could match. The brisket is perfectly moist with fat that melts in your mouth. The bark is crunchy, flavorful, good smoke– what dreams are made of. We’ve used this to make brisket eggrolls. Pulled pork — tender and juicy. I’m not a pork fan, but I was gobbling this up and argued that this was too delicious to be pork. Turkey– great seasoning and luscious. My mom states this is the best smoked turkey ever. This is delictable with the green sauce. If you’re hankering for a sandwich try the stackin Rama — has a sampling of the meats topped with a fried egg. Today, they introduced breakfast tacos. We tried the sausage and rib, pork and potatoes. Both have beans and eggs plus he has a condiment bar. The bar has pickled onions, pico, cilantro, green onions, and limes. The plan is to have breakfast tacos every Saturday. I suggest arriving early before they sell out. These outrank all other bbq tacos I’ve had.

Where’s the sweet tea? Came here for a Friday lunch to try out some new BBQ. It was very good. I got the Brisket & Blues Sandwich all the way, a sausage link, the Carrot Soufflé, and scratch made Potato Salad. All of it was very delicious. The Sandwich was a little skimpy for 10 bucks, but tasted fantastic. Carrot Soufflé is all that you will read about. Might even get my kids to eat it and not know they are eating a vegetable! Ended up with water to drink, :(wasn’t interested in buying a bottled ice tea. I will go back. Next time looking for a pulled pork sandwich.

Hidden, but amazing little place near the railroad tracks in Tomball. Bar-B-Q, craft beer and chocolate! Need I say more!

Dark Matter… best chocolate of all time: black lava sea salt, dark chocolate, black pepper. A nice drive up from the city to old town Tomball puts you at the only BBQ/chocolate shop I’ve ever seen. Both chocolate and BBQ are incredible, and chances are you’ll interact with chef/owner Scott, which is a worthwhile experience in and of itself… very accommodating and courteous.

The cutest place! Had an awesome brisket and blue cheese sandwich. Amazing. My sister and my friends had some great rich coffee and amazing desserts. The atmosphere is cozy and country… just the way I like it. The best part: the people that work there are kind and happy… Will definitely be going back!

This place is only a couple months old right now but seems like it’s on track to become something pretty great! The combination of artisan coffee, chocolate and barbecue is hard to beat although the bbq was the only thing operating at full power during my visit. And the bbq was very good. Nice smoke flavor with a tasty rub. I tried most of their sauces but actually ended up enjoying some sort of tomatillo sauce. I normally prefer a more traditional Kansas city style, brown sugar/molasses type. Enjoyed the sides — very good but fairly standard potato salad, the carrot soufflé was wonderful even though most of us expected not to like it. Sooooo good! Also– Bacon wrapped, brisket stuffed jalapeño was fun but the bacon under the batter was very under cooked. Seemed like it needed to be dipped into the fryer so the bacon could cook some before battering the whole thing up. Tejas uses District coffee, a local roaster apparently and they seem to know what they’re doing. But Tejas’ barista is only part time right now and I wasn’t there during her part. The staff, all very friendly and clearly wanting to please, gave it their best shot(pun intended) but readily admitted that it wasn’t their forte. The next day, I discovered a place just next door called Jane and John Dough. A great little bakery and serious coffee shop. Stumptown coffee and a top notch barista. Back to Tejas! Their chocolate operation was suffering from some scheduling issues with their confectioner. They had a good selection of their delicious bars though and a few truffles and sound committed to keeping it better stocked. All in all a great first time experience and hopefully I’ll make it back to the Houston area again to see how they’ve grown! Joe

Stumbled upon this place randomly and we were very impressed. The food was delicious. We ordered a quarter pound sausage for the kid, a brisket sandwich, a smoked turkey sandwich and several sides. The brisket was smoked to perfection, but what really stood out was the carrot soufflé. Might be on of the best things I have ever put in my mouth. Time to go wash it down with some drinking chocolate.

What a great little place! BBQ, wine, and craft beer. Only had the BBQ this time, but everything we tried was amazing. Turkey, pulled pork, and brisket had an awesome flavor and very tender. No BBQ sauce needed. The sides were great too. Especially the carrot soufflé. Kids enjoyed everything also. We will be back!

Oh man, where do I start? Location is perfect for us Tomballers… Ambience is perfect to the genre and the area, customer service on point with well educated and naturally kind employees, meat is tender juicy and expertly seasoned, and the sides; oh the sides! Carrot soufflé; don’t think about it, just eat it. Only one suggestion that don’t in any way affect the integrity of this Tomball staple… Brew some unsweetened tea for the rest of us :)

Fat boy approved! Addicting. You either like Tejas or you’re wrong. Honestly, words escape me when trying to describe just how good they really are. It’s also refreshing that the owners are so nice. We only had a small sampling of the chocolate. BBQ is too good, wasn’t room for dessert.

GETHERENOW. You’ll be glad you did, because this little place is blowing up like a Death Star. Track them on FB, or just come in during lunch hour on a Saturday. You’ll see — there isn’t a massive line just yet, but give it a few months and folks will be lining up the block just to watch what I got… …to eat last Saturday. Tejas offers some of the friendliest smoked meats I’ve ever enjoyed. It’s accessible barbecue for those who aren’t looking to be smoked out from the inside, which makes this a great spot to bring folks who are visiting from out of town. It’s a rare — nay, near-genius! — combination to have truly delectable sandwich and salad options on the menu alongside your traditional carnivorous indulgences. Add to that equation a great patio space, gourmet chocolate offerings, and an upcoming alcohol license, and you have something truly special that compliments Old Town Tomball. They work their magic on an old traditional smoker with post oak, and the clean flame keeps the smoke level subtle. As a result, you can leave your Tums at home. For me, the flavor of the ribs outshine that of the brisket — they’ve got great texture, smoke, seasoning, and tenderness. It’s worth noting, though, that the fat in the moist brisket is well-rendered and the slice has a great bounce to it. They were out of sausage by mid-day(it’s happening! What did I tell you?!), but the turkey is well-seasoned and very moist. If that word weirdly bothers you, the turkey is well-seasoned and very yums. They make all their own sauces and dressings. They’ve got this molé BBQ sauce that goes well with the pork, and the traditional sauce is not too sweet and has a healthy dose of cracked black pepper. The interior and patio/backyard deserve special mention here, too. This is a gorgeous store, much bigger than it appears from the road. You can watch them make the chocolate like some factory tour through a window near the back, and the outdoor section rivals some of Austin’s hippest hangouts. As for the chocolate portion of Tejas, this is not a sweets shop — they source, make, and sell exquisite and unique dark chocolate products for grown ups. You might be erroneously thinking, «Wai-wha? Are you serious? Surely they can’t excel at crafting fine chocolates AND true Texas ‘cue. Surely.» I am serious — and DON’T try to set me up for making a Leslie Nielsen quote.

This place hit the nail on the proverbial foodie head. Oozing with style and character this cozy off the beaten path confectionery and bbq joint is a can’t miss when in Tomball. Brisket and blue salad was on point. Wishing for a little bit more of that magical brisket and a touch more blue cheese, but excellent way to enjoy bbq without the miserable food coma after. Carrot soufflé is nothing short of amazing. I would say it’s a dessert but… it IS a vegetable after all so get it as a side and get chocolate bread pudding for dessert. Bird and bacon sandwich was really good, portion was slightly smaller than expected for the price but I’d gladly pay a little extra for the love that goes into the food. Cord bread pudding was interesting. Wouldn’t kick it out of bed. wish they had plain old ice tea, vs bottled sweet tea but… eh…you can’t have it all right.

SOGOOD!!! My mom and I just stopped by tonight after hearing about this place and boy are we glad we did. I had the pulled pork sandwich, the meat was cooked perfectly, bun was toasted, its good just as it comes out but I added their signature bbq sauce and pickles… EXCELLENT! They serve a green sauce that is delicious as well. Mom had the empanadas, the crust was perfectly flaky, meat and potatoes were seasoned just right. I was very tempted to order another round of food. I cant wait to try their other menu items. They serve specialty chocolates and coffee as well. The décor was beautiful and cozy with a rustic atmosphere. Outside patio seating with strung lights and decorated nicely. Staff was very friendly! Locally owned and operated, support local business! Cant wait to go back very soon! *Bbq is only served Wed-Sat.

What a great find! Located in old town Tomball next to the railroad tracks, this place is dishing up some of the best Barbecue I’ve ever had! My wife and I love this place so much, we’ve been back at least 3 times since it opened. The brisket and blues sandwich is absolutely out of this world! It’s by far my favorite thing on the menu right now. However, everything I’ve tried has been amazing! Bacon wrapped, brisket filled jalapeño poppers are crazy good. The pulled pork empanadas are perfect! This place also has a happy hour from 4 – 7 most days :)
