Simply love this place for some good Mexican food, always get the chicken enchiladas, really good

Worst Mexican food I’ve ever ordered. I got the steak tacos and the meat was so disgusting I couldn’t even eat it. It tasted like boiled steak. My friends got burritos, which were just pork in a tortilla with no rice or beans or anything. They came on the side. The only good thing was the guacamole.

Not very impressed. Food was sub-​par, service not much better. I ordered the chicken mole, no flavor at all. Basically a boiled half chicken breast with a tasteless mole sauce. Food took a while to come out and there were only 2 tables eating. Definetely not going back.

Can’t go wrong here, great food and atmosphere, BYOB and very reasonably priced for the amount they give you.

Their vegetables are clearly frozen or out of the can. Sauces are good. Just wish they used fresher ingredients. Chips and salsa is really good. Wait staff is always inexperienced and awkward.

I love this place, I really do. The food is absolutely amazing and the chips and salsa are phenomenal. I have been going there for years and I absolutely love everything about it… Until recently.
A new waitress started working there. She is seemingly in her 40s or 50s and of medium build with blondish hair. I have never had trouble with the service until she started. Not only is she extremely loud and obnoxious, but she talks very badly about the customers in Spanish, like its some secret language that no one understands except her and her coworkers. I can tell the other people that work with her get annoyed by her as well because when she is ranting about customers cheapness and other things they just give her odd looks and smile and nod and disregard her. I really wish this place would get rid of her so it can go back to the nice quiet restaurant that I love. I know that owners read reviews of restaurants and I truly hope they read this one because it has become a big problem in my favorite restaurant and, if not for the amazing food, I would not go there until she was no longer employed there. I have countless stories about how rude and fake and bipolar she was towards me every time I’ve had her. If you aren’t good with people then fine, that’s okay, just don’t work in the service industry. Please, Cinco de Mayo ownership, get rid of her for the sake of your business.

Dynamite Value, not too busy. Fresh food, and nice friendly service. Lenny does a nice job running this private restaurant. They have great desserts too!

Two words: Verde Sauce. Cinco de Mayo is all about basics; tacos, burritos, enchilidas. Get them all smothered with their delicious verde sauce and you won’t go wrong. There isn’t much ambiance and the service can be a little sketchy, so don’t go there to judge… just eat up!

This. Place. Is. Awesome.
The staff is adorable and friendly. The food is so so so so so so so good. Like, unbelievably good. We order unsweetened iced tea wherever we go and we love that it’s home made here. It’s a small restaurant but very charming. I need to make it clear how good the sopapilla dessert is. Do not go without trying it!

came to cinco de mayo hoping for an authentic Mexican meal and left extremely disappointed. for my entrée I ordered crispy beef tacos. the taco shells looked and tasted store bought and the ground beef was more like taco bell ‘beef’ .yuck! both the rice & beans were also served cold. awfully pricey for such poor quality food. sadly we won’t be returning!

They aren’t lying when they say the burrito Tijuana is big. It’s the biggest damn burrito I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s also damn good. It has become the burrito I hold other burritos to. I don’t know that I’ll ever order it without a partner to share it with again though, because I’ve been left eating the leftovers for a week.

Pretty solid Mexican food. More authentic than most restaurants in the area. Be forewarned– most places use a very mild chipotle sauce, CdM’s is quite spicy.

Great place to eat at or get take out. Been going to this place for 4 years love the food and the people.

Food is awesome here!!! I got the Lobster and Scallop quesadilla and it was very very good! you also get free chips and salsa which is also a plus… will definitely be back here!

The food is pretty good at Cinco de Mayo. I thought the salsa was really good! There aren’t many good mexican places around… I will definitely be going back to Cinco de Mayo!

Won’t be going back here. Watery shredded chicken. Not much flavor. Didn’t seem very fresh. And no alcohol = no bueno. I’ve had much better. So sad that El Chico’s closed in the Ocean County Mall. After living in CA for 5 years, it was the best authentic Mexican I could find in Ocean County.

I brought my office out to lunch there one day about 2 years ago. The woman owner was so unbelievably rude I will never go there again. I was paying so I was asking questions about the menu and she was annoyed. I can put up with bad service but rude? The food was not so great, bland and mushy. I do not recommend this place. I can’t imagine they’ll be in business much longer.
