Our Waitress Gerry went above and beyond to make our dining experience excellent. She made sure that I received something that wasn’t on the menu by making it herself in the kitchen. You don’t find that in alot of locations! We definitely will be back! Thanks RB

This place isn’t good, just went there and ordered a turkey wrap and disco fries. The disco fries were alright but when the turkey wrap came it was dry and it said it was supposed to come with bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo but it didn’t come with mayo, and the picture looks like it comes with cheese but it didn’t. So when I asked it about it she said i had to order the deluxe but when I asked the manager about the deluxe she said there wasn’t a deluxe version, and I guess the chefs don’t like putting mayo on it either so I had ask for it on the side. So anyway bad experience, bad management and service.

Save your $$ and your health and buy a can of dog food! STAY AWAY! Crystal Diner = dirty, terrible service, and DISGUSTING FOOD. If you insist on going to this diner DO NOT ORDER Coffee (it was skank) Chicken Soup (cold and salty like the wait staff) Avocado Spring Rolls (fried clumps of clay) and NEVER THE CHICKEN MARSALA (uncooked chicken which was probably still alive drowning in sewer water which they pass off as Marsala sauce. DO NOT SUBJECT YOU OR YOUR LOVED ONES TO THIS DISASTER AREA! One bright spot: if you are breaking up with your partner, this place will make it quick and easy! PLENTY OF GOOD DECENT SPOTS ON HOOPER AVE!!!

Restaurant is very nice looking both outside and inside. It is clean, including the restrooms. The food, we had lunch, was 2 stars at best! Service was prompt and courteous. Okay, so the ice tea was weak, the matzo balls were still cold and the broth was so so. The meatloaf on the sandwich appeared to be fried to warm it up. The veal parm. panini was mediocre. Some fries were good, some were mush and others were just I don’t know. The greek sandwich was good, as was the cole slaw. Overall the 2.5 rating of others fits this place well. Return? Nope!

Awful. Bad service, unprofessional. The food is not good, the vegetable selection stinks. Long wait to eat bad food.

I ordered 2 Eggs, 2 Sausage, 2 pancakes (i said I didn’t want home fries, ham, bacon etc…)
My Bill= $ 16.55. (For asking for Less food!)
I will NEVER go there again. 3^rd time they over charged me!

I ate here twice. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t good either, and I had tummy problems both times after eating there. The desserts look pretty, but they were pretty bland… The staff is friendly enough and it is clean, but just meh.

Took my daughter here the other night after her gymnastics sessions. She orders the kids pizza and I got the chicken gyro with a side of disco fries. Some of the French fries were over done, others were some what raw. The lettuce on the gyro was yellow and the chicken was dry. My daughters pizza was a bit of a mess as well. Kind of slapped together on something as simple as a pizza on pita. Our waitress was wonderful. Friendly and attentive. Food is below diner standards.

Clean, shiny and beautiful and open 24 hours even on holidays — this is probably the only reason it is stiil in business because THE FOOD IS HORRIBLE! They even have the gall to supersize meals to raise the price. But more of yucky is just yuckier.” Last time we were there was when we flew in and did not get into town until after MN. We were starving after a long flight, and yet the food was do bad, we barely touched it anyway. It amazes me how such a big operation cannot find a decent cook. Too bad.,.

First off. this place shouldn’t even be considered a Jersey diner. the only reason their still open is the location. Rt 37 right before the parkway. Big and shiny it sucks in the «tourist» going back home. Expensive. seriously crap food. I’m born here and there are so many better places. i would never even recommend this place even to a «tourist «. it’s embarrassing to have this place as a New Jersey diner. Shut up and eat is 2 minutes south. a little different but EXCELLENT diner food.
Ahh. Remember the Dover Diner… that place rocked !

My husband and I come to this diner all the time since we live right up the road and I work late alot. Typical diner experience, we don’t expect much when we go there. The staff has never been overly friendly or attentive, but we don’t normally say anything because it’s not that important to us in this type of atmosphere. The food is normally decent. We usually just get pancakes or grilled cheese. Cant really mess that up.
This time though, the service was a complete turnoff for both of us. The server we had walked up to the table, where we were clearly already an inconvenience to her, and said simply «drinks?» We ordered our drinks and when she came back with them she took our order, with some nasty remarks when we had a question about the menu. The only other time she came back was to bring the food. She slammed our plates down without a word, and then about 20 minutes later, she came over and said «done?» My husband then asked if he could have a refill on his soda and she pulled the cup away so angrily and stormed away without a word.
I don’t know what this girls problem was with us, but it was just flat out rude behavior. If she had checked back, my husband could have asked for his refill sooner. She had only one other table she was waiting on. I don’t understand why we were such an inconvenience to her.
When we mentioned it to the hostess while paying the check, she didn’t seem to care much at all. She just said «sorry»
We will be taking a break from this place for a while. This experience was just that bad.

Called to find out soups of the day and to place order for pick up since it was late. Was treated like a nuisance, hostess rushed the whole three item list then immediately hung up. Looks like we won’t be back even when we would dine in. No soup for you — NEXT!

I have eaten here several times in the past, for lunch and dinner, which fairly average results. Went there for breakfast for the first time this weekend. There were no kid’s menu options– which forced us to purchase large portions at full price that no child could ever eat. The service was very slow. Food was overpriced (a $ 9 omelet?!) which maybe would have been okay if it tasted amazing but unfortunately is was bland and overcooked. Definitely no intention to go back anytime soon. There are definitely much better «diners» out there.

Once in awhile me and the mrs go out to the diner. So it was one of those nights and i will say i wont be back anytime soon. Service was ok but the food to me wasn’t good. Started with loaded skins. Very bland. I had the ham and cheese omlet the mrs went with the open face roast beef sandwich. There was some turkey in the roast beef and the omlet wasnt good by any stretch. So next time ill hit micky d’s before i come here.

This place a local told us about got in late and the guy said its open 24 hours. Very glad we came food was real good they for sure give you plenty very very clean. The lil waitress we had was real nice. I’d come back for sure

I stopped in here yesterday for the first time in a while since I moved a few years ago. I used to enjoy the list of reasonably priced homestyle diner type meals to select from on the menu. To my surprise other than the same location and setting the food is mediocre at best, small portions, and very over priced.
The diner was not very crowded but after being seated it took about 10 minutes to get served. The waitress wasn’t very friendly perhaps is new. After being served we were left until 15 minutes after finishing our meals. I am glad we were not in a hurry. The waitress then asked if we wanted coffee and desert but by this time the dining experience for lack of a better term was ruined.
Never to return for me I have to say.

I don’t know why my family always insists on eating here when they are in the area, but I have found myself here a number of times. Every visit is generally the same story, slow service and mediocre, if not distinctly horrible, food.
My most recent visit, today, is what encouraged me to finally review it. We regularly get the same server here, who is very slow and not capable of friendly service, he seems out of touch and is always missing for some reason. Additionally, more times than not he has brought our food out lukewarm, at best. In the past I have mentioned this to the managers. One such visit, they took my food back and brought it back 13 minutes later and it was just as cold, but the plate was very hot.
This visit, our food came out lukewarm and we were too hungry to challenge it. Additionally, we had to ask for silverware and napkins as none were initially provided.
Now, that being said, I have had mediocre/​okay service and food here on 2 occasions. But even those two times are hard to relish and appreciate as this establishment certainly charges too much for what they offer.
This was the last time I will be visiting this diner. I cannot stress how unhappy it makes me.

Came to the Crystal Diner with my dad for dinner recently. Again, nice looking place, friendly staff. Table was covered in sticky syrup or something from the previous diners, and both my dad and I ended up getting it on our hands and sleeves. Waitress made a halfhearted apology, and brought out wet napkins for us to clean it up ourselves. Only 10 minutes after we had done so, a busboy stopped by with a rag. Strike 1.
We ordered our food. Takes forever to get out to us, and diner is not that busy! Strike 2.
We got our food, and again, «underwhelmed» is the word. I got a cheesesteak and onion rings — cheesesteak was getting cold and falling apart, but I ate it because I was starving. One bite of the onion rings — drenched in oil and SOGGY. Left them there for the waitress to get, and I asked her to take them off our bill, which she did. Strike 3.
And you’re out, Crystal Diner. Will absolutely not be here again, ever, regardless of who is paying. When you fire your entire kitchen staff and start from scratch, let me know. Maybe we will talk.

Went here with a coworker. They changed the menu. They jacked up the prices. It cost me $ 20+ for a subpar chicken panini, a glass of water, and a cup of hot tea.
Nope. Never again.
