Been my favorite local pizzeria for many years, and I keep trying as many as possible to see if there’s anyone that contend. I seriously doubt I’ll find better pizza anywhere though

Pizza is gross and there pasta is okay. There are a lot of better options then this place don’t waste your time. I ordered a penne vodka with chicken(a dish I order all the time) and received dry pasta with cut up pieces of chicken with no sauce.

I’ve tried every pizzeria around this area, Geno Ds is by far the best, next best would be to take a trip over to Denino’s on manatoloking road but thinner and more expensive just not as much bang for your buck.

Great pizza. Loved it since I was a kid. Mainly a take out place only. Buffalo chicken pizza is great. Good prices.

I went for lunch yesterday 2 slices and a coke for under 4 bucks a super great deal I have been a fan of Geno since the Lenny’s days when I lived in point pleasant when he moved to toms river I would go there when I visited my grandmother but haven’t been in a couple of years Glad to say it was as good as I remember the price us right and in a day with all the gourmet brick oven expensive pizza the original great slice wins

The pizza was just blah. Better choices are in the area for the money. The cheesesteak was pretty bad(when I eventually got it). They made a mistake with our order. The guy’s reaction was that his daughter doesn’t make any mistakes taking order’s over the phone. He said no one orders a «cheesesteak», so if you say«cheese» as the first word, it’s assumed you’re ordering a cheese pie. OK buddy.

Been going here since I was younger. One of the better pizza places in the area, and their subs are pretty good too.

Geno D’s makes a good pie! This hole in the wall in a tiny NJ strip mall kitty corner from Rite Aid in Toms River makes pizza that I absolutely crave. We have it for dinner and save the leftovers for another day. Warmed up it just as good. This place is not an eat here place. It’s a pick up and carry out to your house, a park, a friend’s…wherever or have delivered. There are plenty of pies to choose from or make your own. My favorites are the cheese, the cheesesteak, and the super special. The pizza is thin and oily like New Jersey pizza is. Blot it or just eat it. Fold it in half and you are good to go. They have subs, belly busters and other italian food but I never get past wanting the pizza though myself so I haven’t tried them yet. Geno D’s…yes please!

When I was a teenager, I had a close friend who worked at Geno D’s; he would regale us with stories of gypsies who lived nearby and who would order their pizzas with extra oil, or how they’d dredge a sandwich steak in the toilet bowl before cooking it if their opinion of a particular customer was low. Based on that last bit, I never ate there. Twenty years of driving by it, twenty years of people telling me how great it is, I managed to withstand it all until this past Friday. I ordered a cheesesteak with lettuce, tomato, onions and mayo, and I had a plain slice while I waited for it. The pizza was very thin, very oily(I can’t imagine anyone feeling the need to ask for extra oil), and the sauce tasted like hot, unadulterated tomato purée. It would have been very good if anything had been done to season the sauce. The cheesesteak was made with either a very mild provolone or mozzarella, which I don’t like at all, because neither has any real flavor of its own; why even bother putting it on? I should have asked first, but I didn’t, so my bad. They use red onion, which is also not normally my preference, but it was applied a bit sparingly so as not to be overwhelming. The bread was fantastic — a little crusty, soft on the inside — some of the best I’ve tasted around here. I think if I were to ask for yellow American in the future, it would be a very good sandwich, on par with Dusal’s in Freehold, which is praiseworthy. And before anyone should have a laugh about American cheese improving a thing, let’s keep some perspective on what we’re talking about here: this isn’t haute cuisine. All in all, this was a very solid performance that could be tweaked to make it exactly what I would want. The aforementioned friend of mine used to put every dry seasoning available on his pizza, and I can see how he came to that; a pile of garlic, salt, pepper, Parmesan, oregano, and crushed red pepper would amp up a slice like the one from Geno D’s. I’d say I had a 3 star experience, but I’m rounding up lest someone there should read this and get any ideas about how to marinate my food.

just ordered a pizza here tonight. what a lousy experince. told me it would take 20 – 25 minutes. after i paid for it when i walked in i waited and waited. there was no one else in the place. all the help were talking to each other about buying a car or something else after 40 minutes i asked the kid where was my pizza. pizza guy said it was still in the oven. i said it dont take that long to make a pizza. kid finally looks on top of the oven and there it was. i hope the owner looks at this and shakes up his people there. i would not recomend this place to anyone.

It was so good to have real pizza again. I had a pizza with tomato, basil, and garlic(which they consider one topping), and it was fantastic. Just a classic pizza with a great crust and good sauce. Having lived away from the area for a while, it’s the crust I miss the most. I don’t know why places around the country have a hard time with this; maybe they just never had a good pizza. I’d suggest this place to other pizza makers as a place to learn from. The delivery was faster than estimated, which is always nice. It took about a half hour to get to me. The only negative to me is pretty trivial. I like to get wings with my pizza, and they weren’t great. The chicken was pretty dry. But the pizza more than made up for it, and since this isn’t a wings place, I still feel good giving it five stars.

In town for business and found Geno’s here on Unilocal and chose to give them a shot because they had the best reviews. I was extremely impressed with their pizza, ill go so far as to say their pizza is in the top 3 best pizzas i have ever had! Hands down amazing you have to try it. Now if only a pizza shop like this would open up where i live then i would be the happiest guy in the world. The owner was really friendly, told me they have been in business for over 20 years in the same location. The had countless slice pies available and what looked like awesome subs which i just might try for lunch tomorrow before i head to the airport. Also… not only was the pizza the best… the price for their large(16″ i think) was around $ 12 including tax. You cant beat that!

Been a fan of Geno’s for years. Not a chain, which to me all the better. I rather Mom and Pops, family owned. I have tried others, not even worth a mention. Gino’s delivers, and has your name on caller ID now and knows where to go. The food is always hot, and promptly delivers. Have special requests, not a problem. My husband loves his antipasto, and he special orders, no onions or tomatoes, extra meat and dressing. I have the Neapolitan, for those who don’t know. It’s a pizza with no cheese, but all the good stuff that comes with it, tomatoes, garlic, spices, and wonderful sauce. I order a small, because I’m usually the only one in my family who loves it this way, and it’s gone in 2 days.

We Jersey people, we’re a loyal bunch. We stick together. We take care of our own. Especially when it comes to our pizza. From the time I could say pizza, this is the only place my family would order our pies and garlic knots from. Okay, so this one time we tried that new Angelo’s place and quickly went back to Geno’s. Angelo’s no longer exists. Geno’s is still run by the same family, in the same building, for over 20 years. Nothing-fancy, straight-up dirty jerz pizza. Pick it up yourself or have it delivered by a neighborhood kid, hot and fresh, in almost no time. In the off chance that you end up with leftovers, this is the kind of pie that’s even better cold the next day!
