Ellicott Creek Park

We just got back from here and are impressed with the park! Even on a chilly winters day it is beautiful and surrounded by water (it is an island after all). It’s great that all the dog owners that choose to bring their dogs in off leash have been mostly well behaved. It’s pretty big for a dedicated off leash dog park, better than some dog runs out there.
There are also kid play structures and picnic tables, so dog friendly people can have their dogs off while they enjoy the day, so nice.
The entry in and out of the park is also cool, a kind of airlock with double gates. Ensuring that other dogs won’t accidentally hit the street on their own.

Nice little secluded park in the midst of a busy road. I came here before to get away and take a walk with nature. Beautiful scenery. I like how it feels «down and under» Not a lot of people are in the park when I go. It’s a cool little spot when you want to go on a quick hiatus. Has lots of play areas, and is pet friendly. You get your own personal space to just chill out when you come here. I think this will be my low-​spot this coming summer to lay out on my hammock.

I visit this park regularly for a weekend run. The running/​biking path is well paved and follows the creek.
There’s plenty of parking, lots of pavilions, public restrooms, playgrounds scattered throughout, a dog island, frisbee golf, tennis courts, etc.

This park has (almost) everything.
I was fortunate to grow up playing here. It is a beautiful, sprawling park equipped with many play areas for the little ones, numerous pavilions and charcoal grills, a «casino» that can be rented for parties that has a kitchen and I believe a wood fireplace but I have not been in it in years so don’t quote me :) Also there is a tennis court, softball/​baseball field, soccer field.
The park is very clean and a great place to spend time, take a walk or bike, walk your dog etc. It is beautiful in the fall as there are many old trees and it is not too crowded. Even at it’s most crowded, the layout of the park allows you much personal space.
The play areas for kids are numerous and make me wish I was a kid again. Public restrooms at the park are kept pretty clean. There are several little spots to lock up your bike as well.
I definitely recommend checking this park out for gatherings, letting kids expend their energy or just to relax alone. The only addition I would love to see is a wading pool or splash pad. Other than that or even without it, perfection.

The Ellicott Creek Park is awesome! There is a LOT of space and most owners are genuine and bring their dog if it likes other dogs/​enjoys other dogs company. (In my experience)
There is quite a nice walk for scenery for both dog and owner and its essentially an island so your dog can swim! DOG ISLAND!
A tip for Unilocalers… BE PREPARED TO BATHE YOUR DOG AFTER IF IT LIKES WATER. They will get muddy and perhaps a bit stinky! :)

This place can be like a prison yard at times. There are people in there that are not as intelligent as there dog! BEWARE, NOBODY IS LIABLE IN THERE! There has been some bad attacks where, people have left crying with whats left of there dog. These deadbeats take off and you stuck with the vet bills and the pain and suffering. If this happens to you, make a police report and contact the Erie County Parks Commissioner, Troy Schinzel.

This is THE BEST dog park in the whole area (I only know of three, though, but this one by far the most awesomest one). This used to be a regular park but since last year it has been made into an official dog park. There are a bunch of pavilions, picnic tables, bathrooms and a playground for the humans. For the dogs there is a lot, a whole lot of space to run, multiple water entrances and did a mention a ton of space to run?
The park is an island and if u don’t like your dog wet and muddy you may want to try to keep him/​her from the water. Good luck with that. The water is probably the best aspect of this park.
I will definitely start bringing my dog here often.

Poochie Pooch and I are so lucky to have this exist so close to our home. We live about a mile or so away from the park and we’ve gone here several times this summer to have a bit of fun at the dog park.
The dog park is located on an island. It’s right next to Tim Horton’s and a bank. There’s a nice little parking lot to the side of both of those buildings with a stoplight and easy access to get there. There are many parking spots so unless there’s a special doggie event, you’ll always find a spot, although not always close to the bridge.
No matter, it’s your dog’s time anyway. As soon as my Golden hops out of the car, he’s pulling me in every direction to sniff every single thing. To access the island, you cross a small bridge and end up at a gated area. There’s a Lost and Found mailbox there so if you lose something there, check it out. They also have waste bags for you to clean up after your dog.
The gated area is a transitional area where you unleash your dog. Just make sure both gates are closed as you do so! We don’t want any loose doggies running toward the Boulevard.
As soon as the gate is open, my dog is off, like a horse out of the gate. He likes to sprint from one side of the park to the other with me galloping after him. We both get our fair share of exercise here. The island is perfect though because it’s a pretty huge expanse of land with nowhere for your dog to go, so he can run run run all day if his heart desires.
A previous reviewer mentioned the bad quality of the water causing illness. All I’d recommend is that you have your dog enter at his own risk. The water is kind of gross, however there are several other dogs that are diving inside the water as well. I feel like if this park was extremely harmful to dogs that puts your dog at-​risk for disease, it wouldn’t be open. Then again, I’ve seen towns not really care either so I guess it’s really up to you.
The owners and dogs that come to this park are absolutely lovely. I have yet to encounter a nasty owner or an aggressive dog. Everyone seems to be on the same page with treating other people respectfully and keeping their dogs out of trouble.
Be careful if you have a small dog though. This park doesn’t have a separate area for small dogs so I’ve seen many dogs trampled by a stampede of large dogs playing with each other. Just be mindful of what your dog can and cannot handle. Dogs aren’t usually aggressive, but they will jump and snoop around any dog when it wants to play; that’s a dog’s nature.
Definitely come here if you have a dog. Your puppy will thank you and then you can thank me after that :)

LA Cot Creek is a creek in Los Angeles where you throw away your old baby beds, and then others go there and find used, thrown out baby beds for their little ones. It’s awesome.
This park, on the other hand, is one of Buffalo’s prettiest and most underrated parks.
It’s listed on Unilocal as a Dog Park but it’s also a Park Proper and it’s wonderful. Some of the reviews here are just for the Dog Park, but I’ve never brought Starlight here (I will soon!) so I’m reviewing the actual Park part of it.
I was last here about a year ago for a soccer game. Before that I cycled here from the trails by UB and the Amherst Bike Path about 5 times during the summer of 2014. And before that I played many soccer games here and went for many walks here, as I lived 3 minutes drive north of here for many years. I love this park.
Ellicott Creek is full of ducks and geese and they are so damn adorable. This area is beautiful and unspoiled, and despite the sound of the Boulevard close by, it’s still one of my fave places to go in the Amherst area. It’s absolutely lovely, especially in the summer.
If you haven’t spent any time in this adorable little park, come on down and give it a try. You may find a new favourite spot. Just don’t leave any broken glass here. After all, Californian tourists sometimes come here, and you wouldn’t want one of them to get an LA Cut.

This park is great for a lot of things, like most Buffalo Parks: Picnics, playgrounds, running around areas, dog walking, but it also has something that I’m a huge fan of: Disc Golf!
Ellicott Creek Park is a great place for disc golf. It has the distance for drivers, enough trees for descent obstacles, and water hazards. The pads are good and the course is well marked and easy to navigate. Plus there’s lots of parking and the park itself is always maintained, much like Como Park in Cheektowaga.
The only downside is that people tend to wander onto the disc course and not realize they’ve done it. You either have to wait while they meander out of your way, let them know you’re about to throw a disc at them, or just throw and call out «Fore!» and hope they dive out of the way. There’s always the risk of some well meaning young child picking up a frisbee to return it to you, or even more stressful, someone was letting their retriever run off the leash and it was super excited to chase a frisbee. And finally, don’t go the day after it rans. Since it’s right near the creek, the park gets incredibly marshy after a rain. It’s best to save this one for a few days to allow the earth to dry up and stabilize a bit, otherwise you might lose your footing on a distance driver throw. But that little bit is to use at your own discretion :)
So, you know, what out for that. It’s really the only reason this gets a 4 star instead of 5. You can’t just play through a game, you have to watch out for bystanders more so than on actual disc courses. Other than that, it’s a great course for a decent game; good for beginners, amateurs, and pros alike!

This is the place to bring your dog!!! Beautiful, well kept park that is ran by a board of wonderful and very passionate people who take time out of their daily life to do things to improve the park. Very spacious and natural with tons of trees and greenery. There is a doggy drink station, a bathroom, a playground, pavilions, and water access. There is a huge amount of regulars and we always look forward to seeing the same people and pups. They have a Facebook page for updates and provide plenty of bags

This park is beautiful, and if you have a dog you need to come here ASAP. There’s an off leash dog park here that’s really awesome. I brought my dogs and they had an amazing time. There’s plenty of space for them to run around, the whole thing is gated and there’s even fresh water always available for the dogs.
Even if you don’t have a dog, it’s the perfect park to walk around (and the whole thing isn’t part of the dog park). The park also offers covered pavilions you can rent with grills that are great for cook outs.

Not sure if this page is for the dog park or the actual Ellicott Creek Park. So I’ll mash both reviews in one…
Ellicott Creek Park:
This park is beautiful! I love jogging around it. I also love seeing so many picnic pavillions and people all over the place.
In the summer, my book club meets here. It’s such a calming environment.
Not sure what else to write… But I definitely look forward to coming here a lot this summer!
Dog Park:
I live vicariously as a dog owner through my friend Teddy who has a puppy and an older dog.
I’m usually quite shaky around dogs I don’t know. I get quite nervous. I was nervous for about 2 minutes at the dog park until I realized all the dogs (and owners) are so friendly!
I think it’s great that dogs can just walk around and play with one another. I was also impressed that there are no poops in sight!
**Pro-​tip: bring a bag of Teds to the dog park. You’ll be the most popular human there! ;-)

If there is anything you get from my reviews, it’s that I love to do things with the kids and my dog! This is literally one of my favorite places to go! Not joking we spent a couple hours there on mothers day! There is a board of proactive wonderful people who make this park possible. It is well groomed, with bathrooms and doggie drinking stations. There are bags supplied in case you forgot your own! Nice pavilions to sit in as well as picnic tables throughout. There is a small playground for the kids. Beautiful views of the creek with water access for the pups. Huge park for dogs to run off leash and burn some energy. You see a lot of the same people and dogs and there is a sense of family among everyone there

I am a huge fan of the park but please for your dogs safety do not let them swim in the water on the Island. I made that mistake in June until the first week of July and have spent a ton of money at the Vet on a bacterial infection my dog now has. She has been on antibiotics all week and is not doing very well.

Ellicott Island is now officially a dog park. Fence across access bridge keeps dogs from leaving. Leashing is optional.

There are plenty trees, and canoes and kayaks are welcome in the stream. The island is also a dog park. The leash rule is pretty much non-​existent, so the dogs get plenty of exercise. There are playgrounds, picnic shelters. The island is walking distance to Tim Horton’s.
