Pretty solid Mexican fare, plus an extremely extensive menu. Also free queso! I had the Enchiladas Rancheras! Cheese enchiladas, topped with pork cooked with tomatoes & peppers, with a side of rice & guacamole salad. Yum! Salsa is alright and hot salsa is hot. The restaurant is a little cramped, but clean. Service is wonderful! My brother-in-law says the margaritas are wonderful! I plan on trying again very soon!

Their food is the typical Tex-Mex you’ll find anywhere. There’s not really anything unique about the menu at all. However, the food is tasty. The salsa, queso, and all menu items I’ve tried have been good. Unfortunately, the service at this location is greatly lacking, visit after visit after visit. Drinks, salsa, and chips stay empty for way too long, and you’ll likely not see your server after they bring drinks & take your order until the food comes out. Frequently, when the restaurant isn’t very busy, you’ll see most of the staff off in an empty corner watching a game or something on TV, or just sitting there talking and goofing off. The food often comes out cold, or if you’re lucky and it’s hot, the food is all dried out from sitting under a heat lamp. The best way to eat the food is to get it to-go, and you’ll get hot, fresh food. I truly love having a Tex-Mex restaurant so close to home, and their food is something I’ll frequently crave. Hopefully, the service will get better so the place will stay open. With a new Mexican restaurant in Basehor 5 minutes away(which is amazing & packed every night– Rodeo Mexican Restaurant, try it & you won’t be disappointed!) Jalapeños won’t stay open much longer if they don’t get their service up to par.

Extensive menu, good food and great service. We were served complimentary chips, salsa and queso. The Jalapeños fajitas especial were delicious.

In a town with limited option, this is a great choice. That said, it is all-purpose tex-mex. I wish I could give it that elusive 3.5 star rating we’d all prefer to give to a restaurant that is tasty but doesn’t knock your socks off. I would certainly come here before I drove in to KC or Lawrence to fix a hankering for Mexican food, but I wouldn’t drive out here from KC or Lawrence just to get Mexican food. Between the group I went with, I think we covered tacos, burritos, and nachos. No margaritas on this stop. Everything was good, but nothing floored me. Service was friendly but a little slow as the restaurant filled up. Prices were pretty good. And anyone who remembers the old Chuck’s location(and everything else it has been in the last 20 years since I left) knows that the parking lot won’t support a full restaurant, so it can get creative sometimes. Classic 3 – 3.5 star A-OK.
