Last weekend we stayed at Bayley House Suite and would definitely recommend ! I would agree with the review above — our experience was similar except the hot tub was open. The suite was plenty spacious for two, and all of the«little details» made it great. It’s completely updated and modern yet maintains that historic look and feel. Robin thought of everything — from providing books and movies to a little light on the keyring to a stocked refeidgerator to wine in the suite. During our stay we also visited Starved Rock, August Hill Winery, and had dinner at the starved rock Lodge. We’re looking forward to a return trip !

My husband and I just had a lovely stay at Bayley House B&B. Robin greeted us when we arrived, gave us some tips on the area, and then was the silent angel leaving us fresh baked goods and cleaning up after us every morning.(Breakfast offerings — included in the rental — were cereal, baked goods, yogurt, fruit, coffee, etc). The house is about a ten-minute drive to Starved Rock and Mathiessen Parks. It’s cute and comfortable — has unit AC, wonderful enclosed porch, cable(we never used), wi-fi(cut out once), etc. The view into cornfields and cow pastures was unobtrusive, due to curtains and the angle of the house. It was unusual to see another person on our street, even with a neighbor close by. My only issues were that I wished the hot tub was available in the summer and that — given how much my husband and I sprawl in our sleep — a slightly bigger bed. The microwave and fridge were in the big bathroom, but since other B&Bs I’ve experienced are just one big room with tiny bathroom, we were fine with that. So I would highly recommend this spot for anyone visiting the Starved Rock area. It was wonderfully comfortable, fairly affordable(~$ 400 for three nights), and I preferred the«light touch» of the owner(not in your face, but available by phone if needed). We are going to try to return in the winter or spring.
