I started my contract when it was maximus I never really had a problem with them until they became Genises. Eric was a great manager who always worked w me and looked to actually care atleast a little bit about ppl. I was unable to go for months due to no time because the only time I could was during my lunch break or after work but the kids club is only available till 730 pm and I worked till 530 and needed to get my boy fed and spend some time w him before tossing him from one day care to another. I couldn’t go during my lunch for a while because I was dealing w custody and oftentimes had to use my break for court or prepping for court or paying bills running errands etc. I didn’t cancel even though my contract was over because I was supposed to be honored the price I was given when maximus and didn’t want to have to join more expensive later since became genises. Aftr about 5 months of paying without going I tried to start going again and they told me my son wasn’t included in my membership. I talked to 3 or 4 different ppl and they all pissed me off. After 2 and a half years of being a good customer and paying although not going even though i no longer had a contract they couldn’t fix their error and chose to lose a customer instead. On top of that then they said i still have to pay 2 months cause I have to give a 60 day notice. They dont give a shit about ppl since they became genises. The least they could have done is said i could take my son atleast for the last 2 months but not even that. So merry christmas, here’s my money. Congratulations for taking away from a single mom and making things harder for her. Hope your proud.

I recently had a very bad customer experience at your Topeka Southwest club. Maybe that is common across. I could clearly see how money minded they are and how little they care for customer’s opinions. I went ahead to cancel my membership yesterday at the Southwest Topeka branch. The first thing that their fitness advisors are trained to do is to show the contract and point out that we are liable to pay for the next month as well. They keep saying the same thing 100 times, even though I try to explain my situation that I cannot continue that many days. I really do not understand why does it take more than 25 days to cancel my membership in their system, making sure that my money is not withdrawn on 3÷1÷16. Do they have such an archaic systems in place? I don’t think so. The contract says that I have to give them a 30 day notice period. Agree that I missed that deadline by ONEDAY. They don’t even have the courtesy to let it go and not charge for the next month. All they do is to stand by your contract. That’s how they make profits right? I understand. Exploit customers and make money. Per our contract, I gave them a notice yesterday. So, the 30 day notice ends on 3÷1÷16. They have the right to charge for one extra day in march, I do not understand why do they want to charge for an additional entire month? I mean, atleast that’s how other contracts work, like apartment rentals for example. Based on their exploits, I have a worst feeling about their gyms. I have never seen such a bad service anywhere in the USA. I’ve stayed in CA, MA, NJ.

The Woodvalley branch of this gym is an absolute abomination. For about eight reasons which I will now list. 1. It’s hot in here. Think; The Everglades, if it were on the equator, of Mercury. 2. The humidity, also comparable to the Everglades. The HVAC system is egregiously out-matched for the body count. Don’t kid yourself, its like this in the cooler months too. 3. Labyrinth-like. The building basically started out as a raquetball court then they steadily added 200 sq foot rooms until it became the monstrosity you see today. 4. The water fountains are insulting. Yet another equipment purchase from craigslist. The fountain in the main area puts out a 85 degree stream of water about the diameter of a toothpick that tastes like it came from a river. 5. Equipment quality. This basically looks like a swap meet for WWII era gym equipment that Goodwill wouldn’t even take, and it is maintained as such. 6. Over-zealous staff. I got three calls during my first month of sign up begging me to come in for my complimentary personal training sessions. On my cell phone. During work hours. 7. Its a zoo. Everyone in Topeka comes here for some reason, its always crazy. 8. Contract is written in blood. Unless you die you’re not getting out of it. Must miss.
