On the Evening of May 6th, my father and I went to the Longhorn Steakhouse to celebrate and have a nice steak dinner. Upon arriving, we were asked for our names and waited for 5 minutes for our table. An attendant guided us to our table, and we were given our menus. The waiter arrived, and we each got a Sprite and ordered our steaks and salads. He ordered a normal salad with Thousand Island dressing, a 12-ounce prime rib steak, and a fully loaded baked potato. I ordered a Strawberry and Pecan salad, a 6-ounce«Flo’s Filet», and a Sweet Potato with Cinnamon Sugar & Butter. Both steaks were ordered to medium doneness. The first problem of the evening occurred when a waiter brought over two steaks, meant for the table behind us. The next problem was when the steaks were brought over, and our waiter asked us to cut into them to make sure the steaks were cooked, and I am thankful that he asked. We hypothesized that the grill cooking the steaks was too hot, as the outside was cooked, but the inside was still rare. When the steaks were taken away to be finished, my dad commented that his steak had«at least half as gristle.» When the steaks were brought back out by the manager, he apologized for the mistake. He asked for us to cut the steaks again to check, and they were still towards medium-rare, rather than medium. We ate them anyways, and towards the end of the meal, the manager came back and apologized for the steaks, saying that the entire meal would be comped, including drinks. My dad proceeded to say to the manager that he would never eat at the restaurant again, telling him that it was unacceptable for a restaurant to serve such a poor cut of meat, along with the fact that the steaks were undercooked. My only complaint about my steak was that because it was cooked for such a long period, the flavors of the seasonings for the filet started to caramelize. While my dad says that he’ll never eat at Longhorn Steakhouse again, I’m willing to give it another chance.

The staff was great as always. The kitchen doesn’t know how to make French Onion Soup correctly. Only small particles of onion and mushy croutons in a delicious beef broth. There was large amounts of chewy melted cheese in the broth. It would have been better if it had been done correctly. Will not order it again.

I’ve been there a couple times before, wasn’t impressed, but kid sister gave us a $ 50 longhorn gift card for Christmas so we gave it another shot. There was a 30 minute wait on a Wednesday, which boggles my mind for a restaurant this bad, but not something I’d complain about at a good restaurant. We ordered the bacon cheddar dip for an appetizer and it was really good. We then ordered a porterhouse to split and our waiter, JoJo(who was absolutely perfect, and I don’t say that lightly) made sure it came out on two plates so there was no hassle for us. The problem is it came out absolutely rare and we ordered medium rare, and my plate had a big black hair on it. After a relatively short wait my wife’s half came back out cooked properly(mostly, about 1⁄3 of it was still rare), then 5 mins or so later a full porterhouse was brought out for me. Sadly mine was still completely rare, but at that point I was tired of waiting and just ate it. Now I wish I hadn’t. In addition to being grossly undercooked(both times), it was really greasy and gristle-y. We then gave them one last shot by ordering the chocolate lava cake(which JoJo comped for us) and it was a perfectly mediocre chocolate cake. The drinks were good(hard to screw up Free State Copperhead on tap, but the tea was remarkably good, and that’s something many places get very wrong) and the service was fantastic but the food was just disgusting. If we get a $ 50 longhorn gift card again we’ll be happy to trade it for $ 15 at a crappy fast food burger joint, and I’m not exaggerating. That’s saying something, as we very rarely eat fast food. Also, while the tea was good, we each had 1 tea and then 1 refill and got charged $ 2.79×3, so basically $ 9. That’s a lot of money for tea. If you’re looking for a good steak in Topeka, go to Texas Roadhouse. The food is great, while Longhorn is terrible. And Longhorn is more expensive, for bad food. Crazy.

Not a fan of this place. Service was long and drawn out and food portion and quality to cost of the food was not worth the visit. Very commercialized.

We went in for an early lunch with a group of eight(OK, we were there when they opened the doors). We were seated quickly and waited on by two waiters who quickly got us drinks, took our orders, and brought us that great fresh bread. We had a couple of little sirloin steaks off their special menu. They were cooked just as we requested; mine medium and hers well. There was a little gristle, but not too bad. It was just sirloin fer cryin’ out loud. We got plenty of vegetables(You remember vegetables. You should eat more of them.) We were able to talk with each other without yelling because there was no music blaring at 150 db. Very pleasant. One waiter dropped off, but by this time we had few requirements. A couple of more drinks, to-go boxes, and the bills. One couple had a coupon and it was handled with no problem. What a very pleasant lunch. I’ve had the T-Bone before and it melted in my mouth, but can’t afford this every time; it was a special occasion. This is my favorite steakhouse here in town.

Last night we had a party of 18 as we celebrated my brother’s wedding today. The food was excellent and the service was top notch. We arrived at 4:30 and asked for a table for 18 at 5PM. The manager was very accommodating even though we showed up in dribs and drabs and I couldn’t get everyone there until 5:30. As I said before, the food was good and the service was exceptional. The price was also very very reasonable. I would recommend the place for it’s food, service, and flexibility, as it was a very nice time.

Good food with a reasonable price but the service is too slow… don’t even dare to try this place when you are in rush. Chicken tortilla soup was too good with avocado drizzle tasted so good when it is hot… sandwich was okay… sweet corn fritters has a taste of Indian snack and at last but not the least was my all time favorite ice creams tasted too good… hope I had more of it…

I’d say longhorn is the nicest of all the steakhouses I’ve been to in Topeka or Lawrence and I don’t see a big difference in the prices. Everything was top notch!

Longhorn was within walking distance of hotel. We didn’t want peanuts on the restaurant floor nor Italian food. Upon entering Longhorn, entry/reception/bar areas were littered. Husband and I politely informed we were there for dinner. Ungracious and cool hostess informed us 10 minute wait. WE asked if ok to sit at the bar. Hostess said yes. WE thanked her, while she abruptly turned away.(Restaurant was not busy at all.). We waited at bar for 7 minutes but no staff in sight to accept drink order. Husband and I simultaneously decided another restaurant would be more appreciative of our business. We returned(unnecessary) pager and departed.(I had just enrolled in Longhorn’s Rewards Program, but now have their future emails going to Junk folder.). FYI — I usually take time to only write positive feedback. Good mgmt. and friendly employees will make or break your bottom line. Unfortunate for Longhorn…

Very tasty steaks, maybe with a bit too much pepper. Free fresh bread, Coke Products. Service was good.

Have had lunch here twice, and dinner 3 times. At dinner the first time, Flo’s Filet was recommended to me and I loved it. The subsequent 2 times, I recommended it to friends(and had it again myself) and they loved it too. Always consistent — fresh, cooked perfectly, spiced, tender. Service is great. I wish I could rate more local non-chain restaurants — but for the most part, in Topeka, the mid-upper chains have it right — the training on the food, fresh, consistent, well-trained, friendly, courteous staff. They always try to up-sell, but you can stop that easily. Would be happy to eat here again anytime.

I met with a friend for lunch today at this location, without high expectations. I’m giving Longhorn Steakhouse three stars because our waitress was extremely helpful and attentive. The friend that I went with is notoriously picky and will complain about A-N-Y-THING… So I was pretty shocked when the only complaint that she had today was that the lemon wedges tasted like lemon soap(not necessarily an exaggeration, as I tasted myself). We both ordered from their lunch menu a half salad and soup. I ordered the 7-Pepper Salad and it came out pretty dang good. I wish I hadn’t of gotten blue cheese dressing, as theirs tastes not so great. Initially I ordered the shrimp and lobster chowder, excited to try something new… And quickly my excitement was stifled as I took my first taste and realized it was nothing more than probably a bagged item that Longhorn receives on a daily truck. The waitress noticed that I had hardly touched my chowder and offered to bring me a different soup that I may like better. I opted for the broccoli cheddar soup and was way more pleased with that choice. I really appreciated her attention and offer to make sure I was satisfied with my meal! Overall, if you’re wanting a meal that is like a «home-cooked» steakhouse or something of the like… This is NOT the place to go. Everything has an extremely high sodium content and I would highly doubt that anything is actually MADE here.

You might think… National chain… Same ol same ol. I’m here to tell you this one does it right! Everything about this location was top notch. From the exterior to the interior… Very nice western look. The wait staff was perfect. The food… Oh the food. One of the best Steaks I’ve had at any location. Perfectly cooked to medium rare just the way I like mine done. My son had the cheese burger… He gave it Thumbs up as well. My advice… If you want a great steak at a very reasonable price… in Topeka, This is your place.

I’ve been to this LongHorn twice. The results were mixed. After my experiences I highly suggest you plan on going during the weekday if you can. During my first meal here it was a Tuesday night and it was basically empty. The woman who was our server did an excellent job. She was very attentive, answered all our questions and was all-around a great waitress. I ordered a petite filet and it was cooked exactly right: medium rare was medium rare. The actual steak was juicy and my mashed potatoes were creamy. The salad wasn’t half bad either. Great relaxing delicious evening. My second meal was on a Friday night. That was our first big mistake. It is, actually not surprisingly, PACKED on Saturdays. We got reservations because we were celebrating my mom’s job change. There were 7 of us and they cramped us into this booth/table that was clearly meant for 5 at most. We’re not gigantic people or anything and I know everybody felt claustrophobic, unfortunately. I was sitting on the outside in one of the chairs and I kept worrying that the wait staff was going to bump into me or spill food on me. Ugh. The service was very confused and confusing. I know because they’re so busy they have to have(generally) different runners to deliver the actual food but they should really keep the tickets right because all parties were confused about where whose food was suppose to go and they got 2 orders wrong. I don’t think we ever actually saw our waiter again after the orders were taken which was strange for tipping purposes. Anyway, we still had fun and my steak was ok(the others didn’t seem impressed). That said, we won’t be going back on a Friday or Saturday.

Went to Longhorn(not my favorite place-just because) BUT, Alex Kaberline was our waiter and I have to say he was probably the best I have ever had. He was polite, genuine, took good care of all the tables around us. Was friendly, never interrupted our conversation, came to the table and told us the our food is being plated and will be out a couple minutes. Very good job!

Had a salad and grilled shrimp; it was not bad. Service was good. Place was not crowded so agreed to wait the quick 5 minutes for a table… which turned into 20 minutes.

I’ve been living in a hotel across the parking lot Longhorns for the past couple of months, and thought it was time to give them a try. I arrived here around 7pm, the place was not too busy, and I was seated right away. The atmosphere was fairly casual, brightly lit, and they had country music playing in the background. I started off with a Caesar salad that I was very disappointed with. It consisted of a bowl of romaine lettuce and a bunch of creamy(store bought) piled on top of it. There was way too much dressing and it killed the taste of the salad. For my main course I order the 12 oz sirloin cooked well done. I do not like to have my cow still mooing when it is served to me. The quality of the steak was great, cooked to my liking, and perfectly seasoned. I left about 10% of the steak of what was fat and other slimy stuff. For a low-end steak place, Longhorns was very good. The staff was very attentive, the service was quick, and the atmosphere was friendly.
