I am so glad we found this restaurant since there are so few restaurants in Topeka that are not chains and that have something unique to offer. It’s also a great restaurant to get familiarized with Indian food. Both their regular menu and their lunch buffet are awesome! They seem to switch out some of the items in their buffet seasonally, and their food is anything but bland(referring to another review). We have always had great service, whether we had the buffet or we were ordering off the menu. Also, the dinner entrees come with a TON of food, so you definitely get your money’s worth.

Great place for a modern authentic Indian Cuisine experience! Really enjoyed the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan combination. Really looking forward to the new place on college hill!

I have visited this restaurant on multiple occasions. Unfortunately, I have yet to receive decent service as the staff always seems kind of confused and we seem to have had alternating waiters(on accident, like they weren’t communicating, which was really awkward) more than once. The food is not bad by any means but aside from the kesari spinach kofta, nothing has stood out and seemed much less creamy than the globe’s dishes. I will say the atmosphere is totally awesome though. It’s a beautiful restaurant with lots of great artwork, but I would rather patronize the other Indian restaurant in town without fancy fixtures due to better food and service.

The food is authentic but bland. The décor is good, though the lighting is weird. The service did not measure up to the expectation the setting created. There are really better options in town, with better flavour and service. We were really just left to our own devices the whole time, very little interaction with staff. Waited a long time for our one water refill. It was just rather disappointing, and put me off wanting to return. Clean, yes. I’m not looking for some supper or amazing experience or anything, but this was in one word generally, «unremarkable.»

This place is tricky to locate as it is on the side of a Chipotle but it is well worth the search! I asked for a great indian restaurant and this is certainly the place to go in Topeka. I highly recommend it and there wasn’t a dish I had that I didn’t enjoy(and I really ate a lot that night). Adding this to a stop for the next time business has me travel to Topeka!

Food was excellent and perfect for the price! Service was the only thing that kept it from getting a perfect rating. Great spot for a quick, tasty lunch.

What a great surprise it was to find a good Indian restaurant in Topeka. We had the lunch buffet and thoroughly enjoyed everything they served. To top things off, they have outstanding rice pudding that looks and tastes homemade. We’ll definitely be back on our next trip to Topeka.

Best restaurant in Topeka. BEST! This is Topeka and I even didn’t think it was possible to have great food here.

I have visited Topeka more than a few times on our way through Kansas. Amid the fast food and chain restaurants, this is the best food, by far, that we’ve had in the area. I have only ordered take out, so I cannot comment on the dining experience. The service was friendly and efficient. Prices may seem high, but that is because of the generous portions. Highlights include the garlic naan and chicken korma.

Difficult location for parking. Too many tables in a small dinning area, weak cocktail and servers bored and hovering. The table was so small our dishes, silverware and drinks barely fit. But the food was amazing. Had the onion naan, lamb tikka masala, mutter paneer, and for dessert the kulfi mango and ras malai. We ordered the entrees with a medium spice level and it was the perfect amount of heat — both came with rice. Think we’ll order To Go next time.

My new favorite lunch spot! The buffet is fantastic. I sampled a bit of everything and all dishes were great, the staff was attentive and polite, and the dining area was clean. Looking forward to coming again.

The lunch buffet is a small and adequate array of goodies. I especially enjoyed the potato and broccoli aloo. The tandoori chicken was tender and mild. I was looking for a goat dish, but no dice. Service is super nice here.

I am traveling in Kansas and the hotel staff said this was a great local spot. I previousbelieve the best Indian food I’ve ever had is a spot in Daytona Beach where I live. I WASWRONG! This place is AMAZING! The spices were DELISH and so fresh. The garlic naan was the best I’ve EVER had. Definitely recommend for locals and anyone traveling in this area. I would drive hours for this place!

Indian food in Topeka! My daughter, son in law, husband and I found this place in TOPEKAKANSAS! Visiting from out of state so we wanted something easy that staff was very knowledgeable and very friendly. It’s small but packs a punch. Naan was good, wish we had started earlier in the day so we would have had more time to try more items. But we each ordered something different and shared everything was pretty good. If you are in Topeka stop by I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I would definitely go back here, but I wish the prices for the lunch buffet were a bit lower. Buffet, drink, and tip was near $ 20 – which was a bit more expensive for lunch than I would like. However, the food was very good! The buffet had several good options. The naan was out on the buffet line so a waiter came by our table offering fresh baked naan. Service was excellent as well. All and all, a good dining experience. Can’t wait to go back and try the dinner options.

Went to Monsoon Indian Grill for the lunch buffet. I had previously been to this restaurant for dinner, and wanted to try the buffet offerings. There is a nice selection of entrees on the lunch buffet. Two choices for rice — white or jasmine. Naan(Yum!). A small, but adequate salad bar and dessert. I appreciate that each selection is labeled. The servers were very helpful with explaining the ingredients and flavors of the entrée selections. Very consistent about checking on our needs during lunch. Even though this is a buffet, the servers were very attentive and interested in our experience at the restaurant. This fairly new-for-Topeka restaurant is nicely decorated. Tables are close together, but not so close that you feel that strangers are seated at your table. It was not so noisy that I couldn’t hear my lunch companion. This restaurant is a little bit out of the way and takes a little work to find. It is located on the north side of 21st street near Wanamaker, next to Chipotle. You have to turn into the shopping center on Wanamaker. Look for the Michaels store. This restaurant is south of the Michaels Store and the T-Mobile Store, turn left, around the corner. There is parking right in front of the restaurant. I definitely will return to this restaurant for both the lunch buffet and dinner.

In an area being quickly dominated by fast casual restaurants — Noodles and Company, Jimmy Johns, Chipotle — it’s good to remember that Topeka can, occasionally, have really exciting new places that aren’t just more chains. Monsoon is one of those places. I’ve been to several Indian restaurants both expensive and cheap in my day, and have enjoyed a lot of good curry and naan as well, and I must say this is some of the best I’ve ever had. On my first visit I had the lamb vindaloo, spicy but not too spicy, and sampled some of the tikka masala as well. Since I went with my family, I was very happy to see that the menu explained everything very simply without too many exotic words, and the servers, although they’re all very young, seem used to lots of questions and ready to go ask the cook in the back if they can’t satisfy your curiosity. Although their menu isn’t gigantic they do have an equally large veggie meal section as they do a curry section, so they might not have your lamb korma(that I know of) but you can certainly find something new. The dishes are both clean and fancy, the spices are perfect and the naan, if you order it, which you should, is fresh and delicious. Although it is a pricey place for dinner, their food seems worth it. Definitely not disappointed.
