Stopped in to this place yesterday on the recommendation of a friend, and while it doesn’t look like much, the food completely delivered. We ordered a torta with thinly-sliced, breaded steak, which was cooked with chorizo. It was DELICIOUS — the bread crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, the meat tender and flavorful. We also ordered the flautas, which were perfectly crispy, and served coated with a nice layer of crème fraîche and cojita cheese, with slices of avocado on top. Also served with salsa verde. Cooked to order and so, so good. Try it. You’ll like it. And, should there be a little bit of a wait, it’s worth it. Our food took about 20 minutes to come out but it was all made completely fresh, and very good.

Torteria la Esquina(I believe roughly meaning the corner sandwich-er) is a hispanic sandwich shop. The price for a meal is around $ 6.50 — $ 8.00 depending on its size and complexity. The menu choices are slim but thankfully the hot sauces come on the side by default so the sandwich is only as hot as you want it. The decorations and accoutrements are poor but the food is wonderful! In authentic mexican style you’re really only paying for your meal(of which there are enormous servings for the price) and not paying markup for some pointless atmosphere. The hostess speaks English fairly well, but had a little difficulty explaining some of the menu options to us. I fully intend to eat hear again the next time I’m in town on business.
