I guess if you want mediocre bar food, then this place is for you. We all had a burger which is advertised as ½ pounds and I bet it barely weighed in at 1⁄3 pounds. The onion rings were probably purchased at Dillion’s and their cheap version, and then their fries, oh boy, what a pile of bits and pieces. The burgers were all cooked way over done which we didn’t order that way. Maybe their version of medium is burnt to a crisp. We would of asked for a redo but we were on a time schedule and we did not want to be late getting to it. All I can say is, for their prices, Wendy’s has a better burger and fries. GOTHEREINSTEADOF Weller’s, you will get more for your money.

Wife and I went for the Friday prime rib to celebrate an anniversary. The waitress was friendly and attentive, but the food failed to provide any ‘wow’ factor. Still looking for a great prime rib in Topeka, we heard the one at Weller’s was above average. It was cooked properly, hers medium-rare and mine medium. It was the flavor that was lacking. Au jus and horseradish sauce were both necessary to supplement what was lacking in the cut of meat. Good, but not great.

Second time in 5 years that I ordered a Ribeye. Had a burnt taste, even though it was still rare inside, and tough the 8oz must have been barely ½ inch thick. Would be better to be thicker. Even though smaller. Won’t ever order a steak there again

I had the appetizer wings and fries. Again the food was ok. The service however is not so good. Improve your customer service.

Me and a group of co-workers were in Topeka for work, and we had NOIDEA where to go in Topeka KS. I mean, its Topeka KS. The closest bar to us at the time was Wellers, and we had no idea what it was like. We drove to the bar, and after the initial scope out, we drove away(as it looked a little rough). Before we left the parking lot, we decided to at least go in and look at it. We ultimately decided to give it a shot, and I am very glad we did. We had a great waitress, and even though we had a large crowd, we never went wanting anything. The beers are HUGE and crazy cheap. Needless to say, we were all feeling great before the evening was over(which was much needed due to the fact we were in Topeka, KS for work). The next night, we drove to a recommended restaurant and sat down. We decided it was too pretentious for what we were wanting, which made us miss the relaxed, feel good atmosphere of good ol’ Wellers. We went back. Second night was spot on again. We had great food, HUGE beers, and another good time. Give this place a shot, and have a few beers. :)

The good, the bad, the ugly! My wife and I moved to Topeka a little over a year ago and enjoy a nice watering hole. We have frequented several local establishments and overall Topeka has some very nice locally owned places to enjoy good food and adult beverages. A couple of weeks ago I decided to stop in and check out Wellers on my way home from work. Their beer selection was very good, and I do enjoy a good craft beer. About a week later my wife and I decided to give the food a try. Service was very good, but the food was not. I am not a picky person, but I could not eat their chicken fried steak. Most chicken fried steak is very tender and can usually be cut with a fork. This was so tough and full of gristle a knife was needed followed by much chewing. So ok, ya cant have it all, right. So my thoughts were at least it seems like a nice place to stop in every now and then and get a nice cold brew. Well I decided to do this on 9-10-2014 on my way home from work. I walk through the door, locate a couple of empty bar stools, and sit down in one of them. When the bartender approached me he asked me to move to a seat at the other end of the bar. «The seats were taken.» I thought oh ok, the people sitting here must be in the bathroom or something, cool no problem. Even though there was nothing on the bar such as a drink or any personal belongings. I moved and found a seat at the other end of the bar as instructed. I sat there and completely drank a very large mug of draft beer and the seat I was ask to move from, was never sat in. When I paid for my beer I informed the bar tender that it was a little upsetting that I was asked to move from a seat I was sitting in, because it was supposedly taken, and the seat had not been occupied the entire time I was there. The entire matter could have ended right then, but the bartender came across very smirk and arrogant. He informed me the seats were being used by a couple who had taken their drinks to the outside sitting area. Really, you save seats ATTHEBAR for customers who take their beverages outside to consume them? So if everyone who was sitting at the bar decided to go outside to drink their beverages know body can sit at the bar? Even then, when the bar tender became aware the couple was not returning to their seats, a simple sorry bud I guess I moved you for nothing, would have been acceptable. He seemed to be preoccupied by a blonde at the end of the bar(probably an employee who was not working at the time) and playing with his cell phone, to communicate this to his customer. I spoke with the Manager and he said everything a manager should, right from the Managers 101 text book. What is missed here is if I get to a point where I complain to a manager, I am done with your establishment. I will never under the current management of this establishment return. What I am doing is addressing concerns and giving you as the manager an opportunity to fix the problems. I am sure my concerns were not received in any constructive manner that will make any difference at Wellers. I will continue to support other locally owned establishments in Topeka who HONESTLY appreciate their patrons.

Wellers is a great place to go for lunch or dinner. The food is pretty good except for the overabundant use of black pepper on everything. The mashed potatoes were inedible. The burgers are great! My biggest issue is with their take out service. I go there a lot for take out on Fridays. about 75% of the time the order is wrong or the steak is overcooked or too much black pepper. Last time I was there, last Friday, they were already aware that they had screwed up the last couple of times and the bartender bought me a beer and said not to worry, they were going to do it right this time… wrong. My bag came out missing the salad and with cheese all over the broccoli I ordered without cheese. I’m not sure why they continue to mess up but my advice is to always check your bags before you leave but better yet I would just dine in at Wellers. It’s a good neighborhood bar with a good atmosphere and that is what we needed in North Topeka. They just aren’t careful with take out. Maybe the cook needs a refresher course too.

I’ve gone to Weller’s a few times and have never been impressed. The prices are a little high and the food is not great. Last time I went, I ordered nachos. I was disappointed to find that the cheese used was nothing more than Velveeta with rotel. Some people may like that taste but I thought it was a pretty lazy way to run a kitchen. As someone who lives North of Topeka, I find it unfortunate that I have to drive all the way out to Wanamaker for a decent beer and dinner because Weller’s lacks so much.

Living on the north side of Topeka I want a successful bar and grill to frequent. Reeds has grown tired and there is not many other options. That being said, this place is not the answer. Starting with what worked, the place is cleaner than most bars, the service is passable and the décor slightly better than that of a truck stop bathroom. During my most recent visit, a non drinking lunch stop, I got the special for the day; a taco salad. This thing was terrible. It was unwashed bagged lettuce that tasted terrible, Old El Paso taco seasoning on low grade burnt meat. To round out this delicacy they tossed in Pace salsa and some sour cream. I would have said something, but they took forever cooking it and I was already pushing being late to work. The fact I spent nearly $ 9 to have an upset stomach all day is tragic. This is not my first experience either. My first visit was with a snarky owner telling me how great of a cook he is and how awesome of a person he is from being a young business owner. Shortly after this conversation a very intoxicated, un-attractive woman climbed on the bar and started knocking over drinks while pretending to be in Coyote Ugly… Extra helping on the ugly. I believe they were friends of the owner because he did nothing. My fiancé was not impressed with this lady hitting on me. At least we know the bar is well supported.

Stopped in for lunch. Just wanted a baked potato. They had it and it was great! Fast service, with a smile, even though I was just ordering a $ 2.50 menu item.

I recently moved from Seattle to Topeka, I’ve been trying to find a restaurant that was worth going too more than once. The pickin’s in Topeka are slim but this is by far the best beer and burger place in Topeka. Prices are reasonable and the staff is fantastic, and the food and beer are great.
