Duffin Michael, MD

He has been handling my knee pain for year. He is very pleasant, caring and knowledgeable and also does a very good job keeping the pain level on the knee injections to a minimum. I highly recommend him.

I love Dr. Duffin! I’ve been going to him for over a decade and I have to say that I wish all the doctors at HCP were like him. He was the first doctor to actually LISTEN and take my concerns seriously. Over the years he’s been able to diagnose and successfully help me to manage, and in a couple of cases, cure my pain.
Rheumatologists deal with people who live with severe pain. No matter how busy he is, Dr. Duffin always makes me feel much better physically and mentally because he takes the time to explain my condition as well as provide me with information and resources. What impresses me is that he makes it a point to review my medical record to see what else I’m being treated for so that he prescribes the right medicines that won’t exacerbate other conditions I may have. One example was he noticed that I was being treated for depression and recommended an antidepressant that actually works on reducing pain. He really does his homework and keeps up with the latest technology and pharmaceuticals. He recently called me in to take an EKG because one of the medications he prescribed MIGHT affect the heart! My EKG was perfect, but he’d rather be safe than take unnecessary risks. None of my other doctors have done this… and they should.
Mostly, Dr. Duffin is very kind and understands that a patient’s mental attitude can affect their ability to improve. Occasionally, he has gotten behind on his schedule because he will NEVER cut you off and «dismiss» you because your 15 minutes are up. So, I don’t mind waiting a bit longer because it’s worth it.
Lastly, there are not too many doctors that I have as much confidence in. I trust that Dr. Duffin is taking good care of me.

During a routine blood exam my doctor saw something of concern. She advised me to make an appointment with a rheumotologist and recommended Dr. Duffin. I have a PPO because I like selecting my doctors so I was weary of going to see a doctor I hadn’t researched or selected. Since I feel I get amazing care with my current medical provider I decided to take her recommendation.
I didn’t know what to expect from my appointment with Dr. Duffin. I have a very limited understanding of what rheumotologists do. Dr, Duffin took the time to pull up my medical records on some medical record sharing software system. He went through about 5 years of my medical history asking me questions and reading over lab reports, doctor’s notes and my MRI.
Dr. Duffin was able to tell me what was wrong with me, what I should expect and how I can treat it. He took the time to show me things online, explain to me what he was showing me and he printed up some materials for me to take home and read. He was very patient in answering all my questions. He ordered a few more blood tests and called me on a Sunday to report the results when I called his office with a question he called me back on a weeknight at 10pm. I’m not sure if the Sunday and 10pm calls are for everyone, but I didn’t mind.
If you’re in the market for a rheumotologist, I highly recommend Dr. Duffin!
