Ford’s Feathers

I came in looking for a female cockatiel, and bought one here for a very reasonable price. I had them trim her nails and clipped her wings (for free), before I took her home. They were very helpful, and knowledgeable. I would definitely come back and highly recommend them.

I have been coming to Ford’s Feathers for many years, even before it was a store :) when Jack and Betty Ford owned the business, Raquel has been there for years also always very helpful and knowledgeable. Always have the best feed and toys and anything you need for your Birds!

Been here 3 times now, because they have a good selections — and very reasonable prices. Raquel, is very nice & helpful. She has answered my questions selveral times very accurately over the phone.
However, today if took my Fiancé here for the first time (because I was raving to him about the selection & prices), but when we walked I wanted to show how all of the beautiful birds in the cages on the left, but this area was blocked off. When I asked if we could view the birds, and older lady yelled «No!» As she was mopping the floor.
I was disappointed in our visit (we live in Hermosa & drove all the way here on the holiday weekend, because I kept talking it up to my fiancé), but then I wasn’t even able to show my fiancé the beautiful birds that I wanted too, hence the long drive over.
Raquel is very sweet, but expect the service of what you pay for. We were planning on boarding our baby Parakeet here for our honeymoon, but will no longer be doing so after the other employee’s reaction today.

Had the most pleasant experience purchasing a parakeet for my 8 year old at Ford’s Feathers. At first we went to Pet Smart but the employees aren’t really specialists and could only provide general answers. Then by chance we stopped by Ford’s and the staff was super knowledgeable about everything one needs to know about these little creatures, and gave us great advice. The prices are excellent by comparison, and you know they won’t hesitate to help you out anytime. It’s hard to find places like this these days. Kudos to the management. Highly recommended.

Excellent store. I bought my birds here as well as some of my feed. If you buy birds here they offer free grooming. It is nice to go around and shop while they get their nails clipped, etc. I have two handfed cockatiels who are very sweet.

If you buy a bird here the grooming is free!
I have an African grey and a Cockatoo. They help me with any questions I have. My birds are tame because they were hand fed by the owner here. Family owned business. Can’t go wrong. Thank you Richard and Rachel.

I used to come here years ago as a child because I pestered my parents to buy me birds. I got my first birds, a pair of finches, here.
Some time later I bought my second parrot here. He was healthy and young, but first he seemed very scared of us. After a few weeks he got used to our home and was the nicest, most playful parrot I have ever known. Unfortunately, my neighbors came up to my door to complain and forced me to return my bird because they would not tolerate his screaming/​squawking. The staff were accepting of our situation, though. I miss this parrot a lot and expect that their other handfed baby birds will be just as nice.
They use nail clippers and file instead of professional Dremmel tool for bird grooming. Other than that I don’t see any problems. This place had the friendliest worker I have known in a bird store. I felt very comfortable here. I would probably come here more often if I wanted a second bird or if I lived closer. It seems a little «tucked away» for a quality pet store.

I’ve been coming to Ford’s Feathers for YEARS that the employees know me. This pet store caters specifically to the avians. I get my Solomon Island Eclectus’ ‘Pretty Bird Species Specific for Eclectus’ bird food here. The employees know me so well, they order this product for me.
They sell bird food for your little canaries, budgies, lovebirds, conures to parrots. They also have some toys, treats, medicine and bird houses if your planning to have your birds mate. The staff is knows what they are talking about and they also do bird grooming if I last recall (by appointment only). They are closed on Tuesdays and are open until 5pm.
Ford’s Feathers used to be owned by an old couple who retired and sold the place a few years ago. Although they have a different owner, the prices are cheaper than what you see at your typical pet store and they have options to what you are looking for.
I’ll always be back for purchasing my bird’s food and products here.

I go to Ford’s to buy a type of feed that my parrot really likes. They have a small yet varied selection of bird supplies at about average prices. They also sell their own parrot mix which I haven’t tried. Their parrot mix/​food variety is better and more nutritious than the «big» brands sold at the chain stores.
The staff is friendly, the place is clean and they have a variety of birds for sale. The cages are clean and the birds seem well-​adjusted.

My aunt and I had just left Birds N More, down the street, and we didn’t have high hopes for this place. It’s in a dingy little strip mall and didn’t really seem like it would be a good place to find a nice bird, but we were thankfully wrong. What a wonderful place! My aunt immediately fell in love with two of the birds there, hand raised young ones with wonderful personalities and temperments. The breeder/​owner was there, saying hi to his birds and visiting with the staff. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and seemed really fond of their feathered wards.
My aunt’s back in Montana now, and she regrets leaving one of the birds behind. I suspect that she’ll ask them to have him shipped to her — we’ll see!
