I’ve been getting my hair done here on and off in the last 20 years. For a while I went somewhere else downtown due to work, but now I’m back. Can’t say enough about their service. Karina(owner) and staff, currently Kayoko, do things with great care. I’ve been coloring my hair for decades due to premature greying. Recently they suggested the«hair manicure» method rather than traditional coloring, which is a much more gentle way to color my hair(no strong chemicals). My hair is finally soft and shiny again! It’s a much more tedious and delicate process on their part, which is also why most other salons won’t offer this. Their pricing is much better than what I had paid elsewhere! Give them a try.

Ask Kayoko !!! She has been doing my hair almost 3 years and she is the BEST !!! She is a good learner. It is hard to get the exactly same hair styles/colors you expected because everyone has different hair conditions. The first time I got my hair done by her, the hair color was not what I was thinking, even though I still liked the color. Next time, Kayoko got different kinds of hair coloring to make my dream color !! It turned out very well. She learned from the last experience, took a note, and applied it. Her hair cut skill is also super. I also recommend the special hair treatment. If you are having a hard time to find the favorite hair stylist, I highly recommend Kayoko. She is worth trying.

This place is a prime example of why we shouldn’t make assumptions. If you drove past this place, you’d probably assume it was«just another strip mall hair salon.» Maybe on some level it’d register somewhere in your subconscious as a blur in your peripheral, maybe not. If a friend hadn’t strongly recommended Kayoko, one of the extremely talented hair stylists here, I never ever ever would have thought to stop here. But I’m so glad I did. The moment I walked through the front door I was met with a warm greeting from the staff. They were busy of course but they stopped for a moment to acknowledge me as a customer. This is something few places do but most should, in my opinion. I was offered tea while I waited which was delicious and entirely unexpected. It wasn’t just me though, all customers are treated this well! When it was my turn, Kayoko took the time to ask me about the style I wanted. I told her«shorter here, and keep this long here,» and so on. She made some recommendations and was patient throughout the whole process which was great! Some stylists, esp. at Flloyd’s 99 just want to rush through the cut and get you out so they can move onto the next person. Kayoko took the time(really just a moment) to understand what I wanted and how I liked to style my hair. She carefully washed my hair, dried it, then proceed to cut my hair as we made chit chat. I can hardly explain how good she is but I’ll try. Unlike 99% of every other haircut I’ve gotten, she didn’t rely on those clipper hairstylists like to use to save time. She relied on 3 – 4 different kinds of scissors yet, she was so fast, it was impressive. She used techniques I haven’t seen before but when I got home I noticed she cut my hair in such a way, it looks more voluminous and full. It practically styles itself! After the cut, she washed my hair again, blowdried it and then styled it. She made some last minute adjustments here and there, then, used the clippers on my neck. After the whole thing was said and done, my hair looked amazing and my shirt wasn’t itchy at all. Okay, bare with me here, one of my pet peeves is after you get a haircut, there are tiny hairs that fall down your shirt and make it necessary to go straight home and shower. Kayoko wrapped the«curtain» around me in the beginning in such a way where no hairs got anywhere on me. WOW! I feel like a fool for wasting so much time and money on other stylists at those trendy places like Flloyds and other joints. I wish I’d been coming here for years! The cut is $ 35 which is slightly more than Flloyd’s but trust me, the end result is as clear as day. Plus that price includes 2 washes, a head massage, and styling. I get this place might be out of some people’s price range when it comes to haircuts and I’m not so vain that I must spend more than the average person for the«perfect prememium cut,» no, Kayoko cut my hair so well, styling it in the morning takes less time, overall it looks a lot better and I was treated very well here by all the staff and left happy and satisfied. If you need a quality cut whether you’re a guy or girl, whether you want something trendy or classic, this place is amazing! No flash! No loud rock music! No tats, no ray bans, crazy piercings here. Just pure talent and excellent customer service!

I only let Kayo cut my hair! She does it perrrrfect! I don’t even have to tell her what I want. I tell her to do her thing, and I love it every time! I’m not too picky with my hair, so I just let her do whatever and however she pleases, and she never heard a complaint from me! I love it when she does my nail also. She so gentle and thorough with everything! So detail oriented! The owner of the shop is great also! They both are just so friendly and it’s a pleasant atmosphere to be in!

I’ve been getting my haircut here for a while now. Service is just outstanding, and I love the atmosphere. Japanese owner with Japanese service is a must try. I was recommended to try the«head-spa» and wow that was a great experience. Highly recommended!

This place is a total gem. Japanese ownership and staff. I’ve been getting my hurr did by Ana for almost a year now, and she’s a masterful craftsman with sheers in her hand. The staff here are very accommodating and very punctual. Only con would be the random oversized vegetation they have in the shop that hinders your view of the back of your hair or head. Tough to find a good barber in Palos Verdes? Look no further.

Been coming here for 15 years. I have had strangers rave and give me compliments! My Asian hair is not easy to cut nicely, and even harder to cut now that its turning grey(white) and bristly. Karina had no problems doing a great job. Japanese salons include iced tea and a mini neck massage. When I transferred to the Boston field office, I would come back for cuts whenever travel brought me back to the HQ office. Highly recommended!
