Do not eat here! The waitress was very rude. There is a lack of customer service at this restaurant. The waitress was very disrespectful. Food was decent, but that doesn’t make up for the poor customer service.

Tried Mongol King for the first time today. Normally we go to Big Wok in MB for our mongolian BBQ fix. We came during lunch, not busy at all. Decided to order the AYCE for the $ 2 upcharge since it came with soup, rice, wonton, springroll, sesame bread and soft serve vanilla ice cream. The only good part of those items was the ice cream. The soup was SO beyond salty. The wontons were hard as rocks and the springroll mostly just fried dough with very little veg filling. The bread was not as flavorful and chewy as I like it. So not really worth the 2 bucks, except I will say the soft serve was pretty dang delicious. Onto the BBQ… standard offering of meats, noodles and veg. Didn’t love that the meats in the bins were starting to defrost, so half the meat wasn’t frozen, seems a little unsanitary. Normal offerings of sauces(regular, spicy, ginger water, lemon water, garlic water etc) plus BBQ oil. I added about 5 scoops what I normally do elsewhere. There is only one«Wok» cook top, I can imagine how long the wait would be if it was crowded. We noticed that the man cooking didn’t add any water after adding the noodles to the cooktop like Big Wok does. When I dipped into my first bite, I found everything without flavor and dry. Hmmmm. Does this mean the water helps to hydrate the noodles? Are their sauces just bland? I added garlic powder and sesame seeds, they didn’t help much. Lunch price was 11.99 per adult for the AYCE. They were going to charge me the one plate price of 9.99 for my 5 year old but they were really nice when I explained that literally all he would eat is noodles and pineapple, so they charged me $ 4 bucks for him. The staff was nice, they explained that the dinner buffet also offered a selection of salads and brownies in addition to what was offered at lunch. We were told that the One plate price you can only stuff items into one bowl, but if you don’t finish you can take it home. It takes a very talented person to stuff everything into one bowl. This is how all the veg and sauce ends up all over the place as it is just falling off through the line. So, in ending, We are sticking with Big Wok. Same price and better flavor and quality of meat. Plus more tables, 2 cooktops to keep the line going, and also a senior discount for my folks.

Cane here for the first time and it was delicious… The staff here was fantastic, they helped us put our plates together and gave us tips on how to improve the flavor… The food turned out flavorful and fresh… We did the all you can eat but honestly, how can people eat more than one plate? Lol Most definitely will be coming back

Food was okay… Their appetizer selection(«you can pick two») was a selection of two — a wonton and an eggroll. The soup was watery and salty. The décor hadn’t been changed since the 70’s when they obviously opened their doors. The mongolian barbeque was good, but I think that’s the nature of mongolian barbeque. Its good because you put in it what you like. I’d go here again because of convenience… but it’s not a fine dining experience by any stretch of the imagination.

Have been coming here for years and I still love it. Great food and nice atmosphere. The staff has always been friendly and professional. Sometimes the place is empty and sometimes it is packed; especially during peak lunch and dinner times. The food is cooked teppanyaki style and sometimes the line gets long but it always moves and is worth the wait! They serve beer and wine as well. Always fun with a group or just out with your honey.

AYCE Mongolian BBQ. Probably not as commercial as Big Wok or Genghis Khan, but it’s also not located inside a mall with lines curling around the goddam food court. When you are seated, you get a mushroom soup containing a couple slices of white mushroom and fried wonton chips(for texture?). The soup was good but only because of the copious amounts of MSG used. The mongolian bbq selection was pretty much standard. They have a bevy of sauces which I liked mixing and matching. I like that they had some kimchi at the buffet bar along with eggrolls, wontons, salad, etc. I like that they had a soft serve machine, great for dessert. located in between the salad and the meat, strange but hey, not my restaurant. You can put the ice cream machine where ever you want. Be sure to let them know ahead of time if you want to eat ONCE and NOTAYCE. Tip for the girls, only then can you ask for a to go box.

Lunch at Mongol King on Friday Aug 7, Single-Plate or AYCE. Food was fresh and very tasty! Mongol Chef’s were thorough in cooking food to perfection. Like a salad bar you choose a bowl and pile your preferred meats(optional); Beef, Pork, Turkey, Chicken or Lamb. Then, choose all the veggies/fruit you want to go with it and your pasta. They have a variety of tasty sauces from mild to spicy to top it all off. From there, you deliver your bowl(s) to the chef at the Mongol grill where it gets stir-fried as you wait. The waitress was excellent in service, I believe she was the only waitress there handling the place single-handed. She was very friendly and offered rice and bread with my meal. She also showed me around on how things worked when I walked in, since I was a first time customer. I think I’ll visit again soon. Great food. But, maybe I’ll eat outside next time. There was only one negative in my experience. The restaurant was very hot inside, seemed like there was no air conditioning at all, and the grill is piping hot, so it makes the place steamy a bit like a sauna. Since they had self serve ice cream, that helped a little!

First time. Got there right when they opened at 4:30. Only a few people there. Food was good. Reminded me of the Mongolian food at the mall. I liked their sauce selection, especially garlic and ginger. I had my food to go. I didn’t know they added rice and bread for your meal. Nice addition but I didn’t want white rice. That will be the only change I make when I go back, no rice to go. Friendly staff. Would definitely go back.

Mongol King is simply delicious. The staff is awesome and friendly. It’s not fancy by any means, but it’s a great place for a casual dinner. Other reviews have complained about the mess around the ingredients. To that I say, it would be really hard to keep up with the mess in my opinion. Maybe people should be more careful and not let the ingredients fall everywhere when putting in their bowl.

It’s definitely good but there ARE rules you must learn. I’m here to tell you them: Rule 1: There is All you can eat OR one time around. The former is costlier. Rule 2: All you can eat comes with bread AND rice, egg rolls and soup, one timer does not. Rule 3: You CAN get a to go box for the one timer but NOT for All you can eat.(This makes NO sense to me since you’re paying more and if you have food left over, why waste it? Now, I know what the owner is thinking, «Hey they’ll just eat and eat, then make a giant to go plate when they leave. Well, so what? This happens with the one timers and they’re paying less but I digress…) Rule 4: You MUST only use one bowl at a time. There is a review here from 2013 where you could use two bowls but no more. The signs are posted saying so. Rule 5: In order to get your fill of the one timer route, you must overfill your bowl. It seems there’s an art to this but that’s what you must do. They make some weird rules and then to get your money’s worth, you have to act a little greedy or YOU lose in the end. This is a mind trip for people who aren’t used to acting ravenous around food. Eventually, you get used to it. Rule 6: Use the garlic sauce, it really helps with flavor! Same with BBQ oil and lemon water. Do your own research too for combos for sauces. Rule 7: Take your time here. There don’t rush you(at least during lunch) so eat and enjoy.

I have always loved the mall food court version of Mongolian BBQ, genghis khan. This place is a little different. I got a single serve bowl and began to fill it with meat and veggies, not leaving room for noodles as at other places they add those during cooking. My bad! They also don’t add the sauce for you and I found myself attempting to ladle the appropriate amount on. I did much more than the server suggested and thought it was pretty good. They also bring white rice, bread, a cup of soup, and the appetizer and dessert bar is included. I couldn’t make a dent! If you are the type of person who loves large portions this is the place for you!!! Overall the place was good and our server was very helpful and friendly. The place did seem a little run down and the meat to make your bowl was a mix of frozen and defrosted meat, which has got to be a health violation lol.

So my family and I tried this place today. It was descent. The place is small and the ventilation in the restaurant was terrible. It felt very humid and muggy the entire time we were eating. The food wasn’t terrible. It satisfied our craving for Mongolian style noodles but, I don’t think we will be returning. It’s unfortunate to since it’s so close to our place. Looks like we will continue to go to our normal spot in Manhattan beach.

What a huge disappointment! We went at lunch-way overpriced on both the 1 plate and all you can eat options, compared to what you can get at most restaurants for the same price point. The quality of meat was sub-standard; meat was way too tough, considering how thinly cut the it is. There was no menu presented so you had to grill the waiter to get the breakdown on pricing. I am so glad I only requested the single plate option. Someone in our party who ordered the unlimited plate wound up with a overly salty cup of soup that was hardly touched, 1 greasy egg roll &2 wontons. And with the meat so tough, there was little incentive to do more than 1 plate. Lunch for 3 people was $ 30…For the poor quality of food and lack of ambience, there were way better options to go to for lunch with more polished food. I’ll never go back.

Just moved to the area. Been wanting to try it after driving by so often. Finally ate here with the crew. Definitely lacking in décor, ambiance, and mood lighting. Actually it’s relatively small. Looks like a step above a hole in the wall. In it’s defense it was packed for a Friday night. Long wait in line for the greasy«ring» pit. Poor guys in the middle cooking the delights looked miserable. Good news, it was very tasty, sans the soup which tasted like dish water. Hate to see food all over the floor and greasy counter tops. Yet, the final moment of truth once i got back to my teeny tiny table was pleasant. Noodles were good, sauces were tasty and meat was not too shabby. Can’t say i’d rush back but i will certainly give it a try Mon– thur when the prices are better for 1 plate as opposed to all u can eat. Besides, who wants round two in that line ?? Not bad, not great, but worth the trip. I’ve had better, I’ve had worse, i just wish the place had a bit more charm…

Mongol King is great! I have tried many Mongolian bbq around this area(camel mongolian, big wok etc.) and I have to say this is the best in the area. The meat is always good! Love the flavors that they provide(to customize). Service is friendly and great! Never had any issues with anything(water, missing items etc.) Best of all, the prices are incredible for what you get!

Came here almost weekly as a kid. I didn’t know or care about the prices because I was with my family each time and the youngest child never buys dinner… Stuffing as much meat into the bowl became an art-form to me and I got pretty darn good at if you ask me! I guess I like this place for the nostalgic aspect as much as any other reason! Good food, always quick service(you get up and serve yourself) and the«knives» they use on the huge flattop grill were more like SWORDS. Those were very cool
