Sawelson Steven, MD

My elderly parents have been patients of Dr Sawelson for many years. They are both diabetics. First of all they see the nurse practitioner. They haven’t seen the Dr in a couple of years. They get prescriptions refilled and renewed now for over 18 months without even coming into the office to be seen! This is both negligent and unethical! Go to a Dr who cares about his patients health!

I would not recommend Dr. Sawelson. I took my 92 year old mother to see him (referral from primary doc) and we saw him twice. He made us wait at least 1.5 hours each time. When my mother needed a blood test at Labcorp, they forgot to send the labsheet to them electronically. Each time we were in his office, he was talking to nurses and typing on the laptop for another patient. I asked to move to another nephrologist, If he would do that in front of us, he might talk about my mother in front of other patients and I believe this is a HIPAA violation. I agree that he is unethical. He also took my mother off blood pressure meds without consulting her primary doctor and her primary doctor was quite upset.

My primary Doctor sent me her for consultation from one of my tests, I actually haven’t spoken with the doctor here but on my first visit met with the assistant to the doctor answer questions so they are having me do test and seeing another specialist so that they can pinpoint the cause. The assistant was thorough and really gave it to me straight on what needs to be done kind of an eye opener fr me getting old aint easy. I will be doing some changes for sure i just my results are not bad i’ll be praying really hard.

From the start a class act. First time there to have a physical— I was the worst patient… came late without paperwork filled out and couldn’t remember dates of immunizations, surgeries, etc. Front desk was polite with me when they were probably frustrated that they had mailed me the paperwork and now I was going to make them late. You would never have known of their frustration by the actions of the staff. Jane the NP was patient, jogging my memory, efficient and friendly at the same time. Suggested labs and tests for my physical – not insisting or omitting – letting me decide. I believe I received a thorough exam and was out of there in an hour. Can’t beat that. Thank you all. I promise to be on time in the future.

I came to Dr. Sawelson after a series of unfortunate events which lead me to find out that I had kidney problems at age 20. Dr. Sawelson is extremely knowledgeable and progressive in his treatment. It is now 3 years later and my kidney problems have gotten substantially better. I feel great knowing that my doctor truly cares about me and my health. He always remembers details from our last visit even if it wasn’t medically related. Definitely a superb doctor. He also has a great set of staff helping him keep everything running. Jane — his nurse practitioner is EXCELLENT. If there is any unfortunate reason why you might need to go see a doctor — definitely go to Dr. Sawelson and his gang.
