My boss was retiring and I decided to get him a lei for his going away party, so I saw this add at Bob’s Hawaiian restaurant indicating that they make leis. Not being Hawaiian, I was expecting a flower lei, but instead, a green tea leave style lei was made. I guess it was not that bad, but the presentation was not what I expected. It came in a zip lock bag and was wet with moisture for me to dry off before giving my boss the lei. I guess more planning on my part would have resolved any questions in my mind of what type of lei would be made. With only one day’s notice, I should have checked the place out a little better.

I noticed the store was cluttered and dark making it really unappealing to me. I will never buy one single item from this place. It really looks like a thrift shop inside. The loud music playing outside made this shopping experience impossible and definitely didn’t help. I felt bad for the poor people seating outside in the outdoor dining area who had to put up with the annoying music. I might come back to this shopping mall on a day when that music is not being played. For example, if I knew that this store is sponsoring a traditional Hawaiian band with dancers instead. But I guess that’s too much to ask. Whoever thought of that loud band for marketing purposes please reconsider and think of Hawaiian music instead. Keep it authentic and pleasant, please!

I have been coming for years. When ever I’m in need of something I always go to Styles of Hawaii. Greatest purchase was my coconut bra years ago. The owner help my friend and I find the largest pair she had. Lol Since then I randomly stop by and pick up some flowers for my hair. My coffee tumbler that I adore. Beautiful photo album where I can put dance photos. Etc. I love this place. Everyone is so friendly here.

I remember shopping at this shop with my mother in the 1960’s I think the name was HALEHAWAII back then, but the stuff they carry now is the same as back then. Great Staff as always.

Anything Hawaiian/Polynesian you may need … They will have it here. I come for the flowers I put in my hair every summer and they all fit my big head perfectly. :)

If ever you are looking for a ukulele or hawaiian clothing(or other hawaiian merchandise), here is a place to go. The little shop has a pretty good selection of both. The owner is very nice and very willing to help you get what you want.

Ukuleles are not really an easy thing to shop for. They don’t have them very many places, and when they do, they’re usually just the toy kind. But having taken an Intro to Ukulele class at El Camino, I felt that I was ready for a quality instrument. My teacher said, «Go to Styles of Hawaii, they will hook you up.» Indeed they did. Shopping for the ukulele was so much fun. They had so many different ones to choose from, all well-made instruments. Mahalo to these people for their patience… I was an annoying customer. After mulling it over for a while, I went with the Spruce Lanikai Tenor Ukulele. It sounds beautiful and I’m so happy I bought it. They also sell strings, cases, books, etc., and prices are reasonable. Support this independent business! I had such a great experience. Make sure you check the hours before you go – they’re closed Sundays and Mondays. They don’t take Amex.
