This review is not for the storefront, as that does not exist before, but of the business as a sort of traveling entity: Love. Flower clip-on(screw on, actually) earrings? Check. Rings that are giant keys? Check. Owl earrings? Check. The prices seem very reasonable to me. Service is personal and friendly. Here’s hoping they re-open somewhere in the Greater Hartford area.

Sadness — Julia has decided to close the brick and mortar store — but she plans on keeping Betties alive online :) Damn you Torrington, and your lousy foot traffic downtown killing the good places!

Per Unilocal reviews and a visit back to Mom’s house in CT, I decided to check up on Brazen Betties as it seemed to be a new hot spot in Torrington. I guess I was expecting a bit more than what I saw. The store, is small and jammed up full of all sorts of items: vintage clothing, jewelry, magnets, scarves, paintings, etc. It’s just the style of these items that was off-putting to me. Nothing quite caught my eye except for one vintage dress that I attempted to try on, however; due to being endowed in the chest area, it wouldn’t fit over the girls. My mother walked out with a painting by Ava Lovelace and she completely adored it; so much so that she brought it to the family’s house on Easter to show it off. I wasn’t impressed with it and thought it was a little weird looking. The only saving grace for this place is the owner who is super dooper friendly. She seems like a real sweetheart. She greeted everyone who walked in there like they were her best friend. Great customer service. I couldn’t see this place surviving in a big city, but in Torrington? Maybe.

Jus fell in love with this place. Style??? Funky in a groovy sort of way. Artsy fartsy and chic all wrapped up in one. Love that I can buy clothing, home art and jewelry that match MY style. The owner has a gr8 humor about her. Did I mention promotions? Yes Julia has some interesting ideas. I picked out 2 pair of earrings, a scarf and 2 pillows for my girl room… ahhhhh.

It was exactly a year ago that I stumbled into Brazen Betties, and I’m happy to report that it’s just getting better. More art, more jewelry – and now funky pillows! Still the same cheerful owner, whose idiosyncratic style and savvy business sense make BB not only cool but – dare I say it? – a bargain.(Plus, the fun deals, like«High-five me for 15% off» night and«Girls with glasses get 20% off!») So, tonight’s haul included a sculptural pendant made from a sterling fish fork(can double as a money clip); a pillow made from a retro sushi-design fabric; gifts for friends; and a tiny clutch made entirely out of zippers. New are witty T-shirts from young designers(one came with its own sharpie to customize); headbands sporting oversized feathers; and framed art ranging from the cartoony to abstract paintings. But you can also find classic beaded necklaces and ladylike vintage purses that your straightlaced mom would love.

This is the place to buy someone you really love a gift. It made me feel really important to be supporting local artists. A great place for Christmas shopping also. The art is amazing. There was really awesome kitchy framed collages of pinup girls and such. Really cool handmade magnets of pin up girls and old horror movies. You will be able to find something for everyone here to say the least. I can’t leave here empty handed.

This little shop(nestled next to the Yankee Pedlar Inn, and situated in a prime location in historic downtown Torrington) is full of unexpected and wonderful surprises at every turn. Cute & quirky, elegant & feminine… there is something for everyone. My absolute favorite hair accessories by loveycraft are sold there, and I really want to get myself one of the necklaces by White Flag Designs — made with old watch parts, and wings! To sum it up: Brazen Betties is a can’t miss shopping experience!

Great new addition to downtown Torrington. It’s a small shop, but they have a nice variety of wares by local Connecticut artists and designers, from art, to designer clothing, to jewelry and accessories. It’s one of the only outlets that Connecticut fashion designers have for exposure and exhibition in the state — so be sure to check them out and support your local flavor!
