Great place for sushi and hibachi. Service last night was great, sushi was fresh and delicious. Wonderful atmosphere since the renovation last year.

Great Food! I went here for my brothers birthday and had a great time. I got scallops for my Hibachi, and a Rock N’ Roll Sushi Roll, and let me tell you it WASGREAT. I am an avid eel sushi fan and the combination of eel, cream cheese and avacado and the other ingredients were superb. You often see the same names for sushi rolls but they have different ingredients. This Rock N’ Roll was my type of music! My brother had Squid and Beef Hibachi and a Spider Roll which he said he enjoyed. My friend had Filet Mignon Hibachi which she said was good too. The rice was great to, I have been to Hibachi places where the rice isn’t good, but here it amazing was for me that night! Showed up unannounced on a friday night and had a very short wait time! It looks small from the outside BUTITISHUGEINSIDE. Also it has a amazing lively and friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Very disappointing. Place was recommended by a friend. Server was rude. Sushi roll was wrapped in seaweed that was so hard u couldn’t chew it. We sent back and they still charged us for it. Unbelievable.

We did not go here to here to eat, but we did end up having some appetizers. It was a Saturday night and it was very loud, a lot of people having fun. Service was so-so. What was a positive were the drinks. If you find my attached picture, you will see when I ordered a vodka and red bull, they would give me the can of red bull and fill almost an entire glass with vodka. All three drinks arrived like this, so it wasn’t just a fluke. I got soup, salad and a tuna appitizer, all were good.

I went here with my family for my mother’s birthday. We ordered different rolls of sushi, steak hibachi and some apps. I enjoyed the sushi, it had the perfect ratio of fish to rice. I also enjoyed the pepper tuna app, it was light and quite refreshing. My brother didn’t enjoy the steak hibachi that much. To be more specific, he noticed that there isn’t as much steak as there used to be. Other than the smaller amount of meat, the rice was really good and the vegetables were a nice blend of salt and flavor. The interior looks really nice. They’ve updated it and it looks quite modern.

This was my go to spot because it is so close to my house. I have traveled up and down the east coast eating sushi, so I know what I’m talking about. I don’t know what happened to this place but I’ve been so disappointed, the food tastes old? Don’t get me wrong the interior is be beautiful but I don’t know what is it, and the service is mediocre at best. I found a new place, Yume in Farmington. If you’re looking for a good sushi place, I suggest this one. Fuji step it up.

We stopped for a quick sushi lunch and it was our first time eating sushi here. We ordered the Amazing Tuna roll, Salmon Jalapeño roll and a spicy Kani with Avocado. The rolls were excellent. Good size for 14.95 price. The other roles were a bit less. Fish was all fresh! Service was fast! This place also has excellent hibachi. Highly recommend this place. It looks unassuming from the street being located in a strip mall but don’t let that fool you. It’s excellent!

I have been going here for years and it just gets better. Great menu for any person even my picky mother found something she liked and loved it! Great Martini’s and wine menu. Service is getting much better since it first opened and love the new renovations. It’s nice to have variety in Torrington… I much rather spend money in town then in West Hartford.

Writing from bed after eating there is morning. Oh my goodness thankful for pepto. Never been sick from a sushi place and what we had was a lifeless habachi performance chicken. I wish I was smarter I told my bf we should leave after I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and I hear a flush and watch a waitress on her cell phone wave her hands under cold water for half a second and going out. Soap. Use it. He convinced me to stay as our waiter was male and very much not her. The prices are going up on a menu that had unknown splatter on it. It’s flat and you just opened the joint, it couldn’t get wiped? The wait staff hovers and good luck finding a non miserable face. Why didn’t I heed the warning signs? I guess I just wanted to spend a nice day out with my bf so bad, I got stupid. Well day cut short as we drove down the road and I asked my bf if he could go in another place and get me a water and just in case bag for the drive home. His stomach wasn’t happy with him either. Filthy, just filthy…

I would NEVER eat a fish raw so disregard this review if you want to read about sushi. Even if I were starving on a deserted island and a fish jumped out of the water and onto my plate, I’d risk my life trying to start a fire so I could cook that fish. So to those of you that say you got sick after sushi, yea,… Expect that. I’m more surprised when sushi DOESN’T make people sick. However, the hibachi and the ginger salad dressing here are good. Also try the tempura veggies. Everything tastes fresh and the staff are friendly. Of course there are communication barriers, I expect that and even welcome it. A quick liquor permit inspection does reveal Chinese surnames as many of you suspected. No wonder they gave me an odd look when I tried out my newly learned«konichiwa» on them. I have visited about a dozen times over past four years and each time the food and service were consistent. I must however admit that on one occasion there was a very long black hair in my hibachi. I know, very unappetizing, but like a true ninja warrior, I still went back after that! That’s got to say something about the food, no?

My group and I had the Hibachi. I. ordered the filet mignon. The steak wasn’t real high grade. I also asked for it medium rare and the chef overcooked it. The staff were great and the entertainment was fun. Dunno if I wanna really come back but it was an okay time.

They’ve recently updated their interior, and it is amazing. I had spicy tuna & salmon rolls, and they were delicious :)

Just realized my previous review was for a different Fuji in Bristol, but I’ve been here as well. Here to rectify my mistake, though they share a 3-star rating so it’s not going to make a difference, really. Just acceptable. That’s really all I can say. Acceptable service, acceptable food, acceptable price. I’d choose it again if I was looking for that particular type of cuisine and was in the area. No qualms about eating what is on their menu, it just didn’t grab me and make me think, «Ooh, yes, definitely need to come again!» Mediocrity all around. Would rather drive out somewhere further away for better quality.

Came to use a coupon we had. Ordered the sushi bento box. My first piece if sushi had a long hair inside it. The manager made me a new bento box but the experience was already tainted. Instead of deducting money from the bill the manager brought us a cheap store bought desert. My girlfriend’s meal was ok but I don’t think I’ll want to come back for a while. … Updating my review at 1AM the same night as I sit on my bathroom floor with what appears to be food poisoning.

The updated interior is beautiful with a modern classy look. I sat at sushi bar alone and chefs were friendly and offered me a special dish of fried salmon belly that was beautifully plated and very tasty. I ordered the tako salad which had a variety of ingredients that I have not had elsewhere and the dressing was scrumptious! I also had the miso soup, standard but good, and 2 rolls. The spicy tuna was good although I would have preferred it a bit hotter, spice wise. The eel and cucumber was good but I really enjoy the typical sauce that’s brushed over it which was a little skimpy. I appreciated the ratio of the roll filling(substantial) vs. the amount of rice surrounding it. Things I missed were a hot towel to begin and having my hot tea served from the iron pot instead of a glass mug. I am completely satisfied with my lunch and feel it is a good value for my money. Domo arigato!

I’ve been to Fuji twice. Once was about a year ago, and recently I was in the mood for sushi and remembered I didn’t love Fuji’s sushi, but couldn’t remember if it was at least ok so I went again to check it out. Blah. Yuck. Pass. No thank you. Now I remember why I don’t go. The sushi here is edible, but not good by any means. Barely edible may be more appropriate. Let’s start with the sushi bar. The staff seemed reluctant to sit us there but after we said we wanted to sit there they let us. The case didn’t look very clean, and the sushi was literally just thrown in there… now, I’ve been to sushi places where the chefs are meticulous about their cases. Everything is in order, laid out nice, and looks delicious. Fuji’s case, well, the only thing that caught my eye is that many of the fish were overlapping into the other dishes, not laid out all pretty and appetizing, and just didn’t look that great. I even contemplated leaving. The sushi chef seemed very sweet, but not engaging like at other sushi places we’ve been too. Didn’t really want to talk, and had a cough… and even though he was trying really hard to hold it back I was wondering the whole time if I was going to get sick from him touching my food! We decided to stay b/c it was getting late and we just wanted to grab a quick bite and get home. We ordered an appetizer(I got the shrimp tempura b/c after all… how can you mess that up?!) and ordered a couple of rolls. We were reluctant to order too much, and decided to just test a simple spicy salmon roll, and got a Volcano Roll to also test out one of the special rolls. The spicy salmon had more tempura flakes than it did salmon. Not impressed. And the roll was so small there was barely anything in there. Tasted ok. The volcano roll looked great, except right before they passed it over the bar the chef put some weird crap all over it. Still haven’t figured out what it is… looked like when a snake sheds it’s skin… maybe it was fish skin or something? Regardless, there was a ton of it and we quickly scooped it off. The Volcano Roll tasted fishy. Nothing more unappetizing to me than fishy sushi. If their fish was fresh fresh fresh it wouldn’t taste fishy. Needless to say, we decided even though we were still hungry not to chance ordering any more food from there and got the bill and left. Will not return back there. I’d rather drive an hour and change to get sushi down at Momo in Milford. They really take pride and love what they do over there. Check them out sometime… they deserve the business hands down.

I totally adore this place! Every time i’m in the area for dinner, this is always the place i feel the NEED to go to! Every time!!! The habachi is is just the funnest experience ever. The chefs are totally amazing and hilarious and they make amazing food right in front of you. They give out free saki all the time and just make your dining experience a blast. Their sushi is beyond incredible. They’re special rolls are so much better than most of the places i go to in New York! Shocking! Deffinately the best place for dinner in CT! I’m obsessed with Fuji.

I went for take-out lunch with 2 friends. I told the host/waiter I wanted the Sashimi Box which was a $ 10.95 lunch special on their menus. I asked to add brown rice, which they dont have. Instead, he told me that it comes with white rice, then I said I wanted to add a salad, he said what I was ordering came with it. I was confused because the menu said it only came with a california roll or egg roll. He showed me a part of the menu that had the sashimi meal that costed $ 19.95 if I hadn’t specified. I was a little put off since he was going to charge me the wrong amount. I told him that wasn’t what I was ordering. Then he was like, ‘oh ok’ I walked away not knowing what I was coming with my meal. What was worse during this whole back and forth he was snotty, disinterested and didn’t seem to know what came with what meal. The meal ended up being good but I was not okay with their attitude.

I notice that most of the people bitching about the sushi are New Yorkers. Hello, this is Torrington, chain restaurant mecca of the northwest corner of Connecticut. You will not find better sushi anywhere around here, including the chinese buffet next door.(Not to diss the Super Buffet’s sushi, because their sushi is awesome… for a chinese buffet) The Hibachi is fun for large groups, I think that for a couple it’s kinda… eh just because I think the more people you have, the more fun it is. Yes, the hibachi menu is a bit steep, ESPECIALLY at dinner, but quite honestly, you’re paying for the show too. Beware the peeing boy ;)(If you want to know what I mean, go to the hibachi and find out… it’s nothing unhygienic, I assure you.) The only difference between the lunch hibachi and the dinner one is that you don’t get a salad… oh well, worth saving about half. Lunch or dinner I recommend hibachi salmon or the steak chicken combo. I tend to waffle between the two when I have hibachi. I also highly recommend the sushi lunch special, it’s under $ 10 for two sushi rolls and miso soup, if you don’t feel like hibachi. Me and my boyfriend did this this past year for our 2 year anniversary. I have never had any problem with any hibachi chefs or service from the waitresses here. And quite honestly, they’re easier to understand than people at the chinese place next door. If you’re with someone celebrating a birthday, tell your waitress: They’ll bring the birthday person fried green tea ice cream and sing happy birthday with a gong :)
