Burgers taste like the crap you get in a hospital vending machine or elementary school. And way overpriced for the quality. 5 guys or backstage is way better. Shakes are unique and pretty good, service is not bad either.

I mean. It was«okay» I can’t say that I’ll be back. The burgers were nothing more special that you could get in a drive thru but more expensive. The menu looks delish, but the burgers come out looking frumpy and thrown together. The onion rings were super greasy and more batter than onion. The atmosphere was okay, looked clean and newish. I was just disappointed in the burgers, I was hoping it was a bit girthier and not something we could have put together at home. Especially since the restaurant specializes in burgers. It was definitely not impressive. I have found that 99 or Applebee’s has way better burgers.

I’d give it five stars if it weren’t for the price. I can spend $ 11 – 12 just for myself with no drink. But the hamburgers are delicious and fresh. It’s not a McDonalds or Burger King. They are juicy and Perfectly cooked! The only disappointment besides their prices is that they don’t have cheddar cheese. That would be a great option not just for taste but for the lactose intolerant people(cheddar has no lactose in it). Taste is 5 stars! Sounds crazy for just a burger place– but they really are THAT good! And they serve beer and wine here and have a patio outside!

Food is good but don’t come here is you want healthy. Long lines and staff don’t seem to have a system to take orders quickly. Waited in line almost 15 minutes to order a sandwich.

A far cry from McDonald’s, and a nice alternative. The Cheesey Burger was delicious, full of cheese as promised, although very greasy and juicy. I finally settled for holding a napkin under the burger as I ate to protect my shirt. My two dining companions each had an order of fries, one complained they were too cold and the other too soggy. They also seemed pretty unseasoned, which I liked because you can customize your salt intake. The building was clean with a discount retro-vibe, and even though people kept coming in and out no one seemed to be waiting long.

This is a good, but not a gourmet/upscale burger. I was disappointed in the mayonnaise used. It is definitely not of Hellmann’s quality. It has an off taste. the meat has some gristle or bone chips in it. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. I like fresh cooked burgers so the wait is appropriate. The bun was fresh but absorbs too much of the grease and condiments.

We were back at Wayback sunday evening. We really like to food when its good but its was a miss this time. They were out of onion rings and comp’d us w a large order of fries. But the burgers came out first and they were kinda dry… mediocre at best. I was so hungry that i could have easily finished my burger before the fries arrived. And it wasnt very busy. Really no excuse. You guys can do better. Please, Torrington needs a good burger place!

This place did me dirty. I bought the wife and myself a burger, and drink, price wasn’t too bad. I asked the lady at the counter if I could just buy 2 patties for my dog. That’s it no bun no condiments etc. Well I paid the 24 plus dollar bill, not paying attention and she charged me 599 for the 2 patties. I should have asked the price but I figured they wouldn’t beat me up too bad. If I had known they were going to stiff me for the whole thing I would have had them make a complete burger bun and all and thrown the bun and extra stuff out. I felt ripped off when I got home and realized what she did. I wont be going back anytime soon! Five guys here I come!!!

Food was fine, front cashier was very nice. When the gentleman who brought out our food was told they had made a mistake with my child’s burger, he commented maybe there was another customer with my name. He then extended the receipt to show me how he was right and I was wrong. I explained that maybe he should show it to woman who took the order because that was where the error was. He then just stared at me. I finally said could you at least bring us the pickles? He was also loud and rude to other customers while we were eating. They need training in customer service and a new person to bring out the food.

Finally got to try a Jakes. Nice dining area and a decent outdoor area. Staff was friendly and chatty. Shakes came out a couple minutes later and we were asked to grab a table and they’d deliver the meals. Burgers were tasty and side dishes were very well done. The Irish Nachos were out of this world and the plate was bottomless! Very worth another visit and just off the exit ramp from CT-8.

Nope. Never again. Dead store, took forever to take and make our order. And I’m not talking the«they’re fresh, it takes a bit» type of time. I mean FOREVER. We ordered milkshakes, and they all tasted like bleach cleaner. Dumped them when we got home. Should have gone back and demanded money back but we were starving and figured the rest of our orders would be okay. Yeah, no. The burgers were boring, tasteless and an absolute mess. Never in a million years will I go back to Jake’s. Would have been more satisfied with Burger King, and paid WAY less.

Double Jake Burger was a little to soggy, especially the patty. Shakes were on spot tho. Fries also were pretty nice. Everything is on DLT(offer running for next 10 minutes)

Cheap, easy, clean, and custom. What is the problem? Three people three burgers, shakes, onion rings, fries, and Chips… under $ 35. Oh yeah and good tap beer for four bucks. Not sure why others complain. No it is not gourmet, it is $ 5! Great place to stop in for quick custom bite. I am a junior w extra pickles, lettuce, tomato & onion rings on top. Yum & done.

I like this place better than other equivalent burger joints. I had the turkey burger with LT and a Wayback cheeseburger with LT raw onions. Both juicy and hot. The server was patient and attentive despite the manager that was being a pain in the ass… just let the guy do his job. Totally recommend this place.

Visited on a Saturday around 5 P.M. The place was busy but not crowded, just as expected. The young employee taking my order was lacking basic English communication skills but at least got my change and food order right. The cook staff behind the counter was running around in a frenzy, bumping into each other and such, but it still took 20 minutes for my order to be «called» which is not acceptable for burgers and fries. English-is-not-my-first-language employee who took my order forgot to provide cups so I could have at least have had a self-administered drink while waiting for my burger to be led in from the pasture, slaughtered, butchered, cooked, and assembled. Instead I watched the Golf Channel on mute while trying to ignore the screaming children and others sitting nearby. If you do go, use a unique name when placing your order like Mitt, Barack, Meat Popsicle, or *#347, otherwise some other similarly-named person may get your order and you will have to battle them for it. I had this problem and the server didn’t seem to care. «Fight it out amongst yourselves you meat-eating savages, I only make $ 8.25 an hour». I had hoped for more but was disappointed. Stick with local, non-chain /franchise places. Not worth the time or money. Jake needs to go farther back to a time when service was quicker. Way, way, back. Meh indeed.

Food– 3 stars Service –2 stars Stopped by for a Sunday lunch today– popped in 12:30 or so. Walked right up to the counter to order. The lady on the register didn’t really have a strong command of the English language. I ordered a soft drink and an entrée sized salad(issue one– there are 2 salad sizes, and that concept seemed perplexing to her) with a turkey burger patty($ 6.58)(perplexing issue #2). My wife ordered a Turkey Burger($ 4.59) which also seemed to throw our friend at the register. Most of the tables were taken, we found one small table for 2 which suited our needs. You sit down first, without the food, them the servers call your name and bring it to your table. It took a while for the food to come out. The first item served to us was a small banana shake($ 2.89) but«served» isn’t really the right word — it was just sort of plopped down on the table with a «thwack» sound by a very unpleasant young lady. Most of the help there seemed miserable, except a very nice young man(probably the manager) who seemed on the ball. The burger was fine, the salad was good. The overall experience? so-so. The meal cost us $ 17 — just didn’t seem to be a very good value.

Now that Jake’s has been open nearly a year and I’ve been here tons of times, it’s time to revise my review. The wait is still usually annoying, but the burgers are fresh cooked. Order on the website if you’re in a hurry, then laugh at suckers in line. Burgers of the month are hit or miss, Philly Cheesesteak was my favorite. Skip the plain fries… chilli cheese fries are good, but the plain are crap. Get house made chips or onion rings instead. Phenomenal. The onion rings are HUGE. If the BoM doesn’t impress me, I get Jake Burger w/Cheese and bacon. Do not come in here expecting Five Guys. Just expect an awesome fresh cooked burger that curbstomps fast food. I’ve still yet to have a milkshake. A recent addition is beer on tap: Bud and Bud Light(meh) and CT’s own brew with Hooker beer. Beer is reasonably priced: 2.50 domestic, 3.50 craft.
