Another year, another wonderful donation of delicious desserts from Bindi for our non-profit event! This year they gave us 240 individually packaged chocolate mousse desserts, which were frozen and survived transportation from NJ to the UWS, sitting in an apartment all afternoon, and then transportation down to Washington Square Park. These mousses were fluffy, smooth, and rich. Thank you Bindi!

…i’m a fan of their products, but have not walked in on their«retail store». I called them today — looks like the retail store is closed. According to the rep you can place an order from Monday to Thursday and pick up the order in their Kearney, NJ office on Friday. The wife is a big fan of their gelato. Price wise, it’s $ 4, but this is better than prices at the stores which can range from $ 6.5 and higher. So at the end of the day if you’re planning a big weekend get together, it may be worthwhile to put an order in and pick it up on Friday. If and when I do that — I’ll update the review. Oh — they said cash only

I’ve generally made a practice of not reviewing former clients, but because Bindi is such a hidden gem, I’ll bend the rules just once. In 1999 I worked with these folks to design their business software solutions for both manufacturing and distribution; they’re nice people who are blessed with old world sensibilities and strong quality commitments. Bindi is often the anonymous source of the high-end Italian desserts enjoyed in better restaurants, and those products are well represented here. The retail store has never had staffing, employees leave their normal responsibilities to tend to the store; patience may be required. Whether imported or made in their Belleville factory, an item-by-item difference, the Bindi product is of ultra-premium quality. Prices reflect this fact. Note that this is an outlet; not a discount spot but a place to buy wholesale product at the retail level. The selection varies daily, but the basics of their product line; the cheesecakes, tarts, gelatti and pastries, are usually well represented. Bindi’s tiramisu and profiterole are definitely worth the trip here. Because their product is generally sold for restaurant distribution(rather than gifting), single-serving and pre-sliced options are common. Depending upon the weather, it might be a good idea to pack a cooler with dry ice if you’re traveling a distance. The store is a part of their warehouse which is located just to the right of the poorly-marked Rt. 46 westbound exit for Minnisink Road.

Bindi is an Italian based dessert company, mainly wholesale, with an outlet store attached for retail trade in Totowa. Some very nice product, especially the gelato. Expensive. Service can be non-existent if the employees are in back packing a wholesale order. Most items are not labelled as to price, so be prepared to ask. Might be a good idea to call ahead.
