Overall great stay! Great food, wine, and scenery. Perfect place to stay while visiting the park.

Richmont Inn, in a word, is quirky. My wife and I enjoyed a two-night stay there in May, 2015. Some things to be aware of: 1. Be patient with Innkeeper Mr. Hind. He is a very nice man, but he is not especially quick with reservations or check-out software. Don’t be in a hurry. We had to help him figure out which bill was ours and that we had paid a deposit. 2. Do not expect a door that you can lock from the outside. The rooms have crafty wooden locks, but we had trouble getting ours to latch closed when we went out, and they can’t be locked when you leave. 3. No credit cards accepted. Our room specifically(the Lucy Morgan room) had a faint but distinct odor that reminded us of pet urine. We suspected the rug. The bathroom lacks a counter or shelf. Our room was without shampoo on the first morning(which explained Mr. Hind’s comment on check-in about a new housekeeper) but we had complete service the next day. The evening meal was served in a separate building behind the inn, a nice location but lacking restrooms. This building would not be accessible by disabled persons… the walkway has uneven and sloping steps. The balcony to our room was very small but the view was beautiful. The location of the Inn is its best feature, near the mountains, near the Foothills Parkway, and it was quiet and peaceful. All of this being said, while we enjoyed our stay, we’re unlikely to return.

My experience at The Richmont Inn was wonderful! My boyfriend and I stayed on our way down south from Chicago and couldn’t have had a better time. The room was quaint and historic, with a tall, canopied king bed, wood burning fireplace, whirlpool, and balcony. The room was pristinely clean, and had the perfect level of rustic charm, with wooden doors and locking mechanisms, and framed historic documents on the walls. Jim was great, as well! When delivering evening desert(this is complimentary), he saw we had champagne in the fridge and took it upon himself to set up a tray with cake, champagne glasses, and a vase/rose. It was a wonderful surprise after a delicious steak dinner down the road, recommended by Jim. Overall, I highly recommend The Richmont Inn. The room was spectacular, the view was breathtaking, breakfast was delicious, and the local lore we got to hear from Jim was the cherry on top!

This is a hidden gem in The Smokies! The rooms are absolutely beautiful, the food is wonderful and the nightly dessert out of this world. The owners take pride in their establishment and run a truly first class accommodation. We will definitely stay here any time we head to the NC mountains!
