This is one of my all time favorite restaurants. I’ve been told they are reopening down the street in September of 2016. We miss you!

Great restaurant. Been going there for the past 20 years. In my opinion they have the best sushi. They may not have some fancy shmancy named sushi but they do have freshest and highest quality fish in them. The only thing that I don’t like about this place is lack of parking. Many years ago there was a lot down the street where people would park, however local towing company had lookouts who would call in and have cars towed away. Really hope Orient reopens soon in a new location with available parking.

Chicken with broccoli is delicious. Best wonton soup I’ve ever had«on my mother». I’m weird and love crispy noodles and theirs don’t even need duck or soy sauce.

Good food, large portions; but dining area needs renovation. Best hot and sour soup I’ve ever had, but badly in need of interior cleaning or painting. Restroom and interior doors are rusted and corroded through their paint, and areas around their door knobs are black with grime. I can’t imagine how bad the kitchen looks when the dining area is this poor. Restroom is just one step above a gas station’s.

I am giving two stars because the nigiri looked fresh. The rest of the sushi looked old and the pork dumplings were bad. I was afraid to eat the nigiri after tasting the dumplings and based on the aged look of the rolls. Raw fish is not something I mess with so I will not be eating sushi from here ever again. I have not had their Chinese dishes and they seem to have good reviews so maybe that’s what you stick to if eating here.

Avoid this«restaurant». I ordered Chicken Chow Mien and it came really fast, but it was just chicken and onion soaking in a clear, lukewarm sauce. After about five minutes I got the attention of a busser who didn’t speak English. He shook his head and walked away. After a few more minutes, I get the attention of another, but he speaks Spanish. Fortunately I’m from San Diego and remember a little Spanish from college, so I communicate to him I was to talk to my waiter about getting some noodles the dish heated. The waitress finally comes over and brings deep fried crispy chips. I tell her no thank you I would just like some noodles. She claims they are noodles and smiles. I disagree, she points again and says they are noodles. I try to politely show her a picture of noodles on Google. She smiles and points and claims that’s what she is giving. At this point the lukewarm sauce has hardened and I cut my losses and tip a dollar because the Hispanic kid who didn’t speak English was the most helpful person in the joint. Btw, this is Christmas Day, if they aren’t pleasant and accommodating on Christmas, I hate to imagine this place on a normal day. Maybe they are just anti-Christmas. Lastly, on a completely different note I think it’s odd, and slightly segregating that if you want Chinese food you eat on one side of the restaurant and if you want Japanese you must sit on the other side.

Favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. You can’t beat the lunch specials considering the portion, taste, and quality of the food. I typically order the chicken lo mein which tastes fresher and less greasy than other restaurants I’ve tried. Their spring rolls are really good, just cabbage with shrimp so simple yet tasty. And the lunch special comes with pretty simple but yummy fried rice. If you order delivery, they also give you a free can of soda! Which is warm but it’s the thought that counts. The staff is also nice and it’s a very comfortable place to sit in. They’re always extremely attentive especially keeping your cup full of water.

The only place I will order Chinese food. This place cannot be beat in terms of price, convenience, and flavor. My husband always gets General Tso’s chicken. The chicken is real chicken — not nuggets of breading and undiscernable meat products. It’s so delicious that I usually end up snagging a piece for myself. I tend to be more on the adventurous side, so my orders are always changing. One of my favorites is the shrimp and scallop dinner. If you order for pick up(which we always do), your dinner comes with a free soda. Every time I go in to pick up my order, the place has maybe one or two couples dining in the restaurant. I know they have been talking about moving their location, and I think it would be wise for them to choose a place with less in-restaurant dining space since most customers take out. The best Chinese in Towson!

I felt a bit cheated when my order of a quart of pork fried rice and an egg roll had an extra egg roll and a can of Coke added and I was then charged for everything: the order I gave them on the phone wouldn’t have cost the $ 13.20 I paid. I didn’t want to argue as I just wanted to get in my car and eat. Thankfully it was all really delicious.

This place is a repeat date spot for my boyfriend and I. We typically order off of the Chinese menu(chef combo that comes with soup, egg roll, rice and entrée) and always leave happy and full. The staff is friendly and do remember us. They make pretty good mixed drinks, but my suggestion is be aware of what you order because my boyfriend ordered a drink for himself when it really was meant two people. Now, I have eaten their sushi before and it’s very well made and tastes great. Amazing miso and the egg drop soup has got to be my favorite.

I came in here on a whim, I was across the street at subway with my boyfriend while he was getting something to eat from there. I noticed It across the street and called just to make sure it was open(they had signs that said space for rent), they were. I went it it was really spacious but empty as far as patrons, the host was really nice and patient. I settled on the General Tsos(extra spicy) chicken lunch special and upgraded to a shrimp egg roll instead of a spring roll. The wait was about 10 mins and a guy brought my food out from the back. As soon as I opened it i knew I wouldn’t like it, rice was bland, chicken pieces were huge, the sauce was thin and didn’t taste spicy but more sweet? The shrimp egg roll was weird… And my can of sprite was warm ! They must leave their sodas out. Definitely not what I’m used to. I wouldn’t buy their Chinese food again but might give their sushi a try.

I have been coming here for at least ten years. The staff has literally seen me grow up from being a kid to a college graduate. But anyways, the food is always consistently great. I have eaten sushi from many places and I always compare it back to The Orient. Guess what? The Orient always wins. Hands down, this is the best sushi in my opinion not only in taste and freshness, but also in value. The Sushi Lunch special is an amazing value. 4 pieces of raw fish, 1 order of California roll, soup, and spring roll for like $ 8.50. This simply can’t be beat. The Chinese food is also delicious. The meats are always tender and the sauces are perfect. Nothing here is overly greasy like at some other Chinese restaurants which is an added plus. This place is a gem. PS, ask for Judy to be your server.

Got delivery from here using GrubHub. Very quick and efficient. Food was also pretty good too. Miso soup was nice and hot, sesame chicken was quite good and had a nice kick to it. The egg rolls I got were good, but they were huge! They were like twice the size of a normal egg roll. This isn’t a bad thing if you’re into big portions, and it’s not a bad deal to get two huge egg rolls for $ 3. Delivery guy seemed nice and they put a Coke in my bag even though I didn’t order one. Will order from them and will also go to the actual restaurant sometime.

You better like shrimp if you get the shrimp, onions and sweet and sour sauce. There are tons in it and a lot of onions. I only have been there for lunch. Always quick to seat us and service is prompt.

The Orient Restaurant offers cheap Chinese food and sushi(I’ve never had the sushi though). The food here is okay, at best. It’s hit or miss with the dishes that you order. Sometimes, it can be drenched in oil. Sometimes, it can be rather tasty and satisfy your Chinese cuisine craving. This place is also quite spacious and has a more modern décor. It definitely beats out other Chinese places, which generally look a little run down. The staff is generally friendly as well. The best part about The Orient Restaurant is the speed of its take out. They can get them ready for you in like 10 – 15 minutes and they’ll give you a free can of soda for each dish you order for take out.

I’ve only come here for lunch but I have to say, the lunch special here is not bad. There a good variety of(Americanized) Chinese food(with soup and egg roll). Or if you prefer sushi, you can get that as well. The General Tso’s chicken is your average run-of-the-mill General Tso’s chicken: sweet sauce covering crunchy, deep-fried chicken pieces. However, the chicken pieces are on the bigger size. It’s not bad. The hot and sour soup is variable. Sometimes, it’s good… but I’ve had it be inedibly salty before too. In terms of the sushi, it’s decent. Not bad, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get it. They used to be amenable to switching out sushi(for instance, if you don’t like tuna, you can ask for salmon)… but they’ve seem to discourage doing that now.

Just had a terrific dinner here tonight. I’m a big fan of Chinese food so we make our pilgrimage all over MD&DC in quest of new Chinese restaurants. Tonight I ordered the dinner special which came with wonton soup and an egg roll. My egg roll was perfect! To too heavy or greasy. The wonton soup had a lovely broth as well. For an entrée I had the general Tsao’s chicken. Big crispy fried chunks of chicken swirled in a sweet fiery hot pepper sauce. Great meal for 12.00. And I have left overs for lunch. I’m going to try their sushi next time.

I recently tried the Peking Duck… Amazing! You get a nice crispy whole duck that has already been properly dissected into bite size pieces. As with all Peking duck, you get shaved scallion, hoison sauce, and pancakes. The duck was not very greasy at all and was cooked to perfection — crispy and juicy. Relative to other Chinese restaurants offering Peking duck, The Orient has theirs modestly priced at $ 22 and it can easily be shared by 3 people.
