I I dined here for the first time yesterday. I had to crabcake. And the Cesar salad. The salad was just OK little bit too overdressed soggy but the freshest tasting part of the meal. The crabcakes were underwhelming they tasted like a store bought premade microwaved to warm and covered in a very heavy sauce to hide it. I was very disappointed in the quality and the flavor for the price you would think that The restaurant would provide quality. My husband had a chicken breast that was pounded so thin that it was completely dry like it had been run over by a car and left in the road. And again covered in a very heavy dense fix sauce. The vegetables on his plate including broccoli were obviously frozen and then cooked too soggy mushy consistency. This restaurant there’s a lot of room for improvement in the valley where the produce is top-quality the least they could do for the diners is provide fresh or at least that’s what my expectation is of a fine dining. The service was OK the atmosphere was a little bit loud for a cozy dinner and the seating was cramped it is a very small restaurant.

Nice atmosphere. Good service. Good food. Pork chops were excellent. 2 inches thick. Tender. Pineapple chunks topped off the flavor. Mustard chicken was great with the sauce. .4 chicken breasts with roasted potatoes and veggies. best atmosphere and food in tracy.

Never been disappointed bringing friends/relatives/co-workers to eat lunch or dinner at white table-clothed Magellan’s. They offer many seafood entries, plus pastas, chicken, pork, beef, and veal. My favorite is the fresh, flavorful Linguini Pescatore.(Since I don’t like mussels, they accommodated with more clams, scallops, and fish). Pleasant, attentive waiter. One of the nicest restaurants in Tracy. Dark façade during the day gives impression it’s not open. Just enter door on right into lobby/bar –restaurant through opening on left.

Fabulous! Food is delicious, atmosphere is very romantic. Owner waited on us and gave us a remarkable fine dining experience. You can tell the owner loves what he does. Food came out promptly and wine glasses were always full. Definitely our new favorite restaurant in our home town! Can’t wait for another excuses to go back.

This is truly fine dining in Tracy. I had been here only once before, and had a fine meal. So, I took my wife there to check it out. Really top quality here. Really a 4.5, but not an option. Have zero complaints. We called on a Sat at 5 ish, looking to come in at 6, no problem. Seated and greeted right away. Guillermo was our server, and did a fine job. Very attentive. I had the Ceasar, and wife had the Organic mixed greens salads. Both were very good. She had the prawns with fetttuccini, I had the mahi mahi in cream sauce. We both enjoyed our dishes. The deserts our incredible. Overall, we really enjoyed the meal here on Sat night, and will make a return visit soon enough. Highly recommend.

Pretty expensive for the quality of food and nothing spectacular. I don’t know if the high ratings are because it’s considered ‘fine dining’ and there are such limited choices in Tracy. I guess if you’ve not eaten outside of Tracy this place would be acceptable, but it was just OK for me. I’d say save your money and drive over the hill to Livermore or Pleasanton.

Perfect. Absolutely the best restaurant in town. Good choices from the bar. Even the filet has plenty of flavor at Magellans, but for a real treat try the rib eye, and start with a caesars salad.

Good crab cakes. I had over done mustard chicken. But because of the the atmosphere, this is probably a better restaurant in the Tracy area.

Now, if I was rating this restaurant on food it would be a 4 probably. But their service is what got me. My girlfriend and I went here on our anniversary after spending the day in Monterey. We had reservations for a very nice restaurant there but the somehow lost them. So driving home we found this place online and we had to eat somewhere. We walked passed the place 2 times looking for a door which is kinda tricky to spot and the server came out and welcomed us in. I seriously feel awful for not remember his name but he was excellent. Service was great and he was enjoyable to talk to. Totally turned around our moods. I would definitely go back.

WAYTOOEXPENSIVE for what you get/the atmosphere. You’re better off going to Town & Country on 10th street. Service was SLOW! 45-Hour to get a calamari & a filet. Had to ask where our soup was. Oh and their bathroom says it all! I had High hopes… DISAPPOINTING.

WOW we had our annual recognition lunch here today and Thomas opened the restaurant just for our team. We have been here several times over the years but today was extra special. We had a group of 19 people and everyone raved about all of the food. We started with some calamari that was fried perfectly. We also had a Tomato and Mozzarella apps. The Caesar salad was very tasty. The bread was hot and both soft and crunchy. I could have made a meal with that and the butter but I held back. The Steaks were perfect, the Salmon was the best many said they have ever had and the Bolognese was also great. Just when you think it can not get better the desert menu arrives and all choices look decadent. When they arrived they were sexier than they were described on the menu. They are so large and totally worth the price he charges for them. I would say anyone of them would be big enough to split. Thomas is a great host and made serving all of us at the same time look easy.

Wow, what a find! This small restaurant is tucked in between a bunch of other stores, down from a neighborhood pub. While it’s easily overlooked, the service, wine, and especially food were truly incredible for a little town like Tracy. I had their filet mignon, which was one of the best steaks I’ve had in years(and I’ve eaten at virtually every major steak chain). Way better than any expensive steakhouse, and about ½ the price. The texture and slightly smokey flavor was balanced excellently with the not overpowering peppercorn sauce. Truly a must-try delight! Aside from that, the house-made apple pie was excellent. For a special treat, we splurged on a glass of 40-year old port wine with desert. It’s rare to find such an old, tawny port, and the price was incredible. Rich, nutty, smooth, and«caramelly,» this port was really a special treat. If you’re looking for a great special meal in Tracy, don’t overlook this place!

We were greeted by the owner, who is Portuguese, and he entertained us throughout the night. He is funny and friendly and full of advice but is careful not to pick out any favorites. We ordered a few appetizers– smoked salmon and caprese– both of which were pretty good. For my entrée, I had a fish off the menu, but I felt it wasn’t seasoned very well and I found it a bit disappointing. However, I will say that everyone else at our table were very happy with what they ordered so it seems like I just didn’t make the best choice. The restaurant itself is a bit older– almost has that musky smell– and it’s a bit dark but for a cooler night in the winter it makes for a great dining option. From what I understand, good restaurants are hard to come by in Tracy and this one is a good option for a nicer dinner with a wide array of selection.

Best restaurant in Tracy, hands down! Now that may not be saying much because, let’s be honest, Tracy’s dining experience can best be described as mediocre, but Magellan’s really could hold it’s own in a bigger metropolitan area up against the good restaurants. As a Tracy-ite I’ve been coming here for years and have yet to be disappointed. My favorites: the carbonara(Warning, it doesn’t have the word«carb» in it for nothing. Recommendation: run 10 miles before consuming), the duck, and the ahi tuna. It’s all good though and anyone who says otherwise probably is better off checking out the chain restaurants by the mall.
