This place is a rare find. Small, local, good service, personable staff, and delicious, quality food. I had the pulled pork and one of a kind potato salad. He even threw in a small bowl of coleslaw since l kept debating. Everything was excellent. It is a reason to head to Trafalgar.

Great BBQ. Being from the South, I am rather particular about my BBQ and especially my sauces. The dry rub they use is very good. The meat tender & moist. We stopped in on a whim near their closing time. We were warmly greeted with a smile & willingness to answer numerous questions prior to ordering. Located right on SR135 very convenient drive from Indianapolis on the way to or from Brown County. Or just make the drive for this alone. Prices are in line with other BBQ places. The only negative was a few fatty pieces in our order, but that only enhanced the flavor and would NOT deter us from returning. I do want to warn that the menu offers a Bourbon Barrel Jalapeño Hot sauce. It tasted more like Habanero, but we like heat & asked for more! Although we did not order any dessert, the homemade ones they offered looked YUMMY! Would definitely return or have them cater an event!

I pass this place all the time as I am being dragged to Nashville(Brown County). So we stopped in Sunday on the way home. Wish I would have kept on going. Flat soda, or was it straight from a 2 liter could not tell. I saw turkey rib on the menu, I had to try this as I go for the weird and different on any menu. Holy bad fowl, Batman. What I was brought out, looked like the left over parts. My wife uses for stock after Turkey day. Now I do admit, I eat that stuff on Turkey day, as I love to pick at any left over meat. But to be brought out as a menu item is a big NO-GO. The dryness was over taken by being over smoked. The sauces must be a person preference of owner/chef. The flavor seems to be overwhelmed by, what I would guess is vinegar. Now to the side’s, or as I would call them super market delis sides. Not sure they are made at this place. I would suspect they are dumped out of cans and cartons. Now to the best part… service or lack of. Poor kid who was working has no knowledge of the menu, has no idea what he is doing at all. I almost felt sorry for him.

What a great spot! First time eating here but not the last. We both had the pulled pork and it was the best we’ve had! They do catering too.

Visited last week and got 3 pulled pork sandwiches with different sides on all. Sandwich was pretty good and so was the coleslaw. All in all, was a good experience and we will be going back again!

This is an alright BBQ joint. The food: I ordered the baby back ribs with two sides mac n cheese and green beans. My wife ordered the pulled pork with a side of green beans. She enjoyed her meal. The ribs were just ok, but I’ve had much better. They weren’t that tender and definitely did not fall off the bone. They were also kind of dry and they didn’t have that much of a flavor. The mac n cheese and green beans were pretty tasty though. The service: My family and I didn’t have to wait very long for the food to come out to us. That was probably the best part of the service. That being said, the waitress seemed very inexperienced. She wasn’t very talkative. She didn’t explain things. At one point she walked over to our table and just stood there with an awkward silence, so we assumed that she wanted to take our orders. She didn’t ask if we needed lids or straws for our drinks. She never even came around to ask us for refills until after we were finished with our meals. The restaurant was clean but kind of small. They only have a one person restroom which was out of paper towel and toilet paper. I give this place 3 stars because the food was average. I might give it another try, but not really sure.

Went here with the family this past Sunday for lunch, wasn’t that thrilled. Don’t get me wrong, good food and the bbq sauce on the tables are great because they are Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce, they have a small selection of their own bbq sauce, I tried the original, DIDNOTLIKEIT… taste like you were taking a shot of Jack, to me they just lack flavor. Service… what service!!! Just kidding, nice lady but doesn’t check up much and kinda forgetful. One restroom with no toilet paper or paper towel so bring your wet naps people! Long story short, nice little place but one visit was all for me.

Had never been in to check this place out, thought I would swing in on a Sunday afternoon and try it. You can tell they have put a lot of effort and care into everything they do here. The food was delicious and the service was great. I will be back soon and often.

While driving the back roads of Indiana, I happened upon a little gem of a restaurant in Trafalgar. Off to the side of SR135 sits what could best be described as an upscale BBQ counter. The menu is simple and straight to the point. You select your meats, i.e. pulled pork, beef brisket, half-chicken, or baby back ribs. All meat is thankfully gluten free, as they cook it with a dry rub only. The sauces, located at the counter, were self serve and offered a nice variety. While I chose not to add any additional sauces, some of the choices you had included a Golden Carolina, Sweet Blackberry, or a Appropriate Habanero sauce. They also served a traditional sauce in a squeeze bottle on the table. As for the sides, you could chose from the typical traditional offerings one might associated with BBQ including coleslaw, mac & cheese, green beans, baked beans, etc, although sadly most were not GF, including the green beans as they were cooked in chicken broth. If desserts are your thing, they had home made pies, which vary. They happened to have a sweet cornmeal or buttermilk when I was there. And if you like what you tasted, you could order a whole pie or even their BBQ sauces in a bottle for $ 6.50 to take with you. The Pig’s Tail does have a drive through if you don’t care to step out of your vehicle to get your food. The inside however has a handful of tables to chose from. One of the best selling features of dining inside was the number of outlets that they had, especially in the upper sitting area. If you needed, to you could charge your phone while you dined. The service was extremely friendly and helpful in their recommendations. I opted for the beef brisket, sans bun. It was very moist and tender and reasonably priced for the amount of meat you were given. It also had the right amount of fat on the meat to give it the extra flavor. If you ever happen to find yourself in Trafalgar, IN and are looking for a local place to grab a bite to eat, The Pig’s Tail is a great option.

First time visit and outstanding first impression. Came for lunch on a Saturday and we had the pulled pork. Thought it was about the best I’ve had this year. Moist, tender and delicious. Lots of sauce options to please everyone. If you were in this building when it was a coffee shop, you’ll be surprised by the spaciousness. The new owner has created a very clean and modern dining area that can easily accommodate a couple dozen diners in this small building. Will return soon to sample the brisket, ribs and sides.

Great food! Loved the brisket the most. Several great sauces to choose from, although I don’t recommend any on the brisket, it was awesome plain. Coleslaw was good too! We will be going back for sure. Love that they were open on Sunday, great halftime chow run!

We just ate here for lunch, on a whim today, Monday. First visit. We did not know what to expect, and we were quite pleasantly surprised. The pulled pork was very tender, no overcooked or charred bits, and no off or rancid odors to the meat at all. Very nice! This small and unassuming building used to be a local coffee shop before the new business took over.

I just ate at the Pig’s Tail. Wow. The baby back ribs are fantastic. Fall off the bone, melt in your mouth. There are plenty of barbeque sauces to choose from. I liked their one on the table that had a hint of spice. The bonus is when I told them I was gluten free they knew what I was talking about. All of their smoke house meats are gluten free… just tell them and they will leave the bread off. I am really looking forward to going back for the brisket. By the way I live in San Francisco where we have great restaurants and this one is a contender!!!
