To appreciate Harold’s you have to understand the traditional Michigan up north experience. Harold’s delivers on this… small log cabins, knotty pine, rustic grounds. Nice that there are plenty of rowboats so one is always available. Bring a small motor for more mobility as they are not well set up for rowing long distances. We also used the stand up paddle boards, extra charge but well worth it. Cabins are rough on the outside but clean and comfortable(although dated) inside. Big porch had an excellent hot tub. Spider lake is beautiful and does not feel overdeveloped. We will be back.

Harold’s Resort is wonderful. I’ve been back with my family for years. Kathy and Rolph(hope I’m not misspelling his name) are great hosts. They are very receptive to your needs and they give you a lot of privacy which is great. I was sad to see their only review was so negative. They are renting cabins that are older and that’s what I expect. I never found the buildings run down or poorly maintained. Again, I am expecting a clean cabin with woods and water when I rent there and that is exactly what I get. My expectation isn’t a day spa. The cabins are clean and cute. As far as woods and water goes, Harold’s Resort is lovely. Spider Lake is beautiful and Harold’s has one of the nicest sand beaches on the lake. The woods are very nice. Tall pines all around your cabin on a quiet sandy peninsula.
