Excellent food and service. Our waitress was sassy and quick-witted; we liked her immediately because she dished out equal amounts of teasing to my husband’s. So glad we decided to venture to a non-fast-food place off I-81. It’s not that far off the interstate and well worth the short detour. The ample bowl of homemade chicken & rice soup was great. The BLT was killer, with local tomatoes and flavorful Kunzler’s bacon.(I asked.) The dessert was homemade so I ordered a piece of coconut meringue pie. It was great, too. Definitely would come back on our next trip through Pennsylvania.

Behm’s has been around forever but like many restaurants under numerous management. We stopped there after my husband remarked how much he loved their hamburger steaks and Cole slaw although he was talking about 20 years ago. The place is small and clean — hint, there was one man at the counter drinking coffee. Other wise the place was empty. My husband ordered his hamburger steak, mashed potatoes and Cole slaw — I chose the honey dipped chicken, FF and tossed salad. My husband’s Cole slaw was very sour, too much vinegar, definitely not his memory. My salad was brought to me in a tiny bowl with the dressing already coating everything… Hmmmmmm…can’t really screw up a bag of greens, just open and throw in a dish. I wasn’t happy about my salad dressing drenching my greens though. She brought out our entrees and I gasped… my husband’s hamburger steak and mashed potatoes had this«black as oil» gravy all over. How in God’s name did they get the gravy as black as oil??? So NOT appetizing!!! I had 3 «pigeon» pieces of chicken and generic frozen fries. My husband ate a small portion and said the taste of the gravy was unappealing — my chicken was laden with a thick gummy breading. We asked for the check and left. Unless things really change in a dramatic way we won’t be returning anytime soon.
