Had breakfast midweek. Spinach and feta omelette. Food was awesome. Reasonably priced. Service was great too! Will definitely go back for breakfast. Worth the scenic drive to Trempealeau

I have been camping at Perrot State Park for the past 5 nights. Today I had my second meal away from camp. It rained most of the night last night an while I stayed dry, I wanted some«comfort» food for breakfast. I thought I would try the River Café and boy am I glad I did. The waitress Kelly was prompt, helpful and got my order to me as soon as it was ready. The owner Randy is the cook and he handles the entire kitchen which you can see from the dining area. He is a master short order cook. I ordered Coffee a Denver Omelet, American Fried Potatoes and Rye Toast. The coffee is better than your typical small town café. The omelet was filled with fresh ingredients and cooked just right. The potatoes are made with thinly sliced red potatoes with just the right amount of browning for flavor and texture. The toast was made from one o about 4 varieties of bread available and still crisp when it arrived at the table. I am so glad I made the trip down here from the park. The next time here will include a slice of one of the home made pies or baked goods. I can’t wait. I did return for some pie and coffee later. The coffee was commented on previously. The pie was a variety I had never had before; Sour Cream Apple. It was fantastic. Crisp crust, great flavor and not as sweet as many sour cream pies I have had at other places.

Homemade. Friendly. Clean. Fast. We stopped here while biking the great river trail from Onalaska. Special: bangers in a mushroom onion gravy with boiled red potatoes and sugared carrots for $ 7. Dessert was chocolate cream pie, totally homemade.

A –4° day outside but warm and accommodating inside The River Café! If you are making your way down Great River Road(Hwy 35) into Trempealeau a must stop would have to be this restaurant. I am one of the pickiest eaters known to man and a servers nightmare. I ordered a 3 egg Denver Omelet and asked for«No Rabbit» food. Not only did they keep the«Green Stuff» out, but the cook added extra meat to fill the dish. The entire staff was friendly and the service was fast. What else could you ask for in a small town establishment? Do yourself a favor and stop in and you will understand why I will be a regular from now on.
