Twas a Sunday afternoon in Trenton, when all through the city Not a restaurant was open, whether it was good or shitty; Our stomachs were grumbling with nary a care, In hopes that edible grub could be found whether it be here or there; The adults were fine with walking some more as logic filled their heads; While visions of anything danced in the children’s heads; With mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap, We hoped whatever we found would not suck or be total crap, When out on North Broad Street there arose such a clatter, I sprang from behind my shades to see what was the matter, Away to the crosswalk I flew like a flash, Tore open the front door and nearly tripped on a cat, The sun on the breast of the recently-fallen snow, Gave a lustre of midday to open sign below, When what to my wondering eyes did appear, But a real open restaurant and yes it was near, With a little old man behind the counter so lively and quick, I knew in a moment this place would stick, More rapid than eagles the food it came, And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name: «Now, burger! now, fries! now potato wedge and fried chicken! On, soda! on, apple juice! on, napkin and for dessert a cheese blintzen! Alright, enough of this. The premise is simple that if you’re in downtown Trenton on a Sunday you’re pretty much screwed for food as zero including my old reliable Subway is open. This place keeps limited hours and if you’re in the mood for low brow-greasy-but large quantity items, this stop is for you. They I guess specialize in fried chicken but what they had was sitting under a heat lamp for who knows how long plus this place also has nowhere to sit or stand inside so all things considered the logistics of that made hand held things like burgers seem far more logical than some old/greasy pieces of chicken. Everything was a deserted except for a few sketchy locals hanging around outside so everything was prepared super fast and shockingly it didn’t suck. The fries were very much on the greasy side but the burgers were large and prepared well although one downside on me would be that I asked for a side of mac & cheese that I probably paid for that never hit the bags. Boo/Hiss! All things considered for where we were, things could have been a whole lot worse(although I don’t know how) but this Crown location worked out all right. (Aside of the aforementioned burgers and fried chicken they also offer everything from fish sandwiches to falafel wraps to gyros and a very large selection of sides & desserts.)
