Seldom is there such a stark difference between two visits to the same restaurant, but when it happens with a negative slide it is all the more noticeable. I read from another local Unilocaler that ownership had changed hands, and if that is so, the new peeps don’t really know what they are doing. Seven months after having good cause to believe 4 Stars were appropriate, after lunch today, it is hard to generate enthusiasm past 2 estrellas. I ordered Chicken Pad Thai, which came with choice of soup and tea. I opted for Hot & Sour given the Artic blast we were enjoying since the first of 2016. One spoonful and I was done. It was so salty(not sour) that it made my gasp. I pushed it aside and noticed the thick sheen on the surface, normally indicative of MSG overdosing. It was inedible. The standard Thai Noodle dish was not as «punch in the nose» bad as the soup, but it clearly lacked the verve to what I had been served on the previous visit. The energy of the platter was visible in the coloration of the pile of tangled noodles and poorly sliced chicken. Even the photo looked pale. The taste was palatable, but the meat was thin and in long stringy pieces due to poor knife craft. The noodles were hard to pull out of the nest, even with the metal fork twisting and lifting them to separate them from the mass. Overall, a disappointment. The house looked the same as before, and my server was very conscientious, even replacing my good barley tea when it cooled. Perhaps, the fact that I was the only customer should have given me a hint that all was not as it should be at Elements Asia.

Been going here for Sushi takeout for years. Missed them when they closed. Friendly, excellent, accurate service(except once). I do not care for the luncheon menu Sushi. Was completely different from Supper, and not as good quality. Dinner Sushi is totally to my liking. As for the closure, I am glad that Hamilton watches such things, and I am confident that now that such a penalty was exacted, that everything is clean and fine. Parenthetically, I can walk into 99% of US kitchens, private or restaurant, and flunk them all on health code violations. I kid you not. Crumbs inside a toaster or dirt six-inches down inside a sink drain is enough to flunk. Detection for bacteria is done with swabs and chemical analysis. No restaurant is going to be perfectly clean, and the allowable parameter range is not going to satisfy the totally squeamish. I suspect that, just like in apartment buildings, roaches ride into the place, or into neighboring stores, in cardboard box crevices. They love the cardboard, the glue and darkness. Then, when one attached neighboring store hires an exterminator, all the roaches run to the attached next door unit. They all should get the exterminator on the same day, then about twenty to twenty one days later to get the hatchlings from the dead roaches’ eggs laid earlier. I went thru all this on my Navy ship. Once I learned the foregoing, they were gone.

Used to be my go to sushi spot. In the past two years service is not good, drinks have always been watered down, and after some of the violations I will not be returning even if they have a new name. A new name doesn’t get rid of cockroaches. NASTY!
