I’ve lived in many different towns in NJ over the years, and have had a library card for each place. I always wonder why some municipalities/library boards opt out of their county system — are they saving money? Are the services as good? Those are just questions — I don’t know the answers. From a patron standpoint, county library systems(Burlington County’s library system is great, but then again, so is Ocean County’s, and Camden County’s) have it together better — more books, media, options, services — than independent municipal ones, but Hamilton is well-stocked for sure. One odd observation: I’ve heard some bizarre, very personal conversations among the staff at the Hamilton Library, though. The employees talk openly about their relationships and ophthalmic conditions. And that’s all fine, as long as they can process patrons well, and know where things belong in the building, I guess! There’s always a book sale going on at this library, run very efficiently. Good quality stuff, too. I’m currently on a waiting list for an ebook I’d like to read — patrons can borrow books for their Kindle. I’m new to that technology so I’m going to give it a shot and will report back. I love the idea, though. There are a lot of programs for kids, and my son enjoys the children’s room. Overall, a very decent library. Not the best I’ve seen, but I have no complaints at all.

Good selection of fiction, you can even find some recently published works. However some important authors are overlooked. Use the online search tool to avoid unnecessary trips. The librarians are friendly and helpful. Yes ebook readers, paper books still exist, and are still cool.
